I'm sure there are many medics who'd like to see him removed from their ranks.

Me for one. He is an absolute disgrace to the profession. Sadly there will be some within the profession who think he’s right and I have already seen comments minimising his behaviour.
On the plus side that just makes me, and many others, want to advocate all the more for the healthcare rights of our female patients.

SirSamuelVimes · 01/12/2021 11:17

Hurrah! Angry, bullying, misogynistic toad.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 01/12/2021 11:22

@Abhannmor

A risibly short suspension.
A N Other poster explained yesterday that it is actually quite a strngent penalty. A suspension is the second highest penalty that can be applied and any time suspended is the minimum he will be off register - there will be hoops and additional undertakings before he can work again.

And he will never be able to hide the fact that he was susended. The wording in the suspension is quite damning too. As is the fact that he continued posting on Twitter after having been told to stop by his mentor and disciplinary. His having given an interview with Vice is alos included.

Speaking of which, there may also be further investigation into his conduct as it seems that some unredacted witness statements are being shared across social media... if any of those witnesses make a complaint (and I believe 2 already have, including screenshots) then AH will be back in front of The Beak quicker than Twitter can delete the offending accounts.

His stupidity and arrogance apparently know no bounds... nor the value of good friends, it seems!

RepentMotherfucker · 01/12/2021 11:46

In any profession a suspension is very serious and potentially career limiting.

I assume he will have to declare it when applying for jobs? Why would anyone employ someone with a suspension on their record if they could employ someone without one? So your opportunities become limited to jobs no-one wants and it kills your career.

I could almost feel.sorty for him if it hadn't been the case that there were so many opportunities for him to stop intimidating people and throwing his weight around and he ignored all of those chances.

During his tribunal he was out and about with a 'TERF REPELLANT' badge.

I mean, during the actual tribunal??? He isn't just ignoring it he is blatantly just carrying on.

allmywhat · 01/12/2021 12:11

During his tribunal he was out and about with a 'TERF REPELLANT' badge.

Thoughtful of him to label himself, though I'd describe him more as a TERF emetic.

I'm disappointed to see the "he'll be cleared of all charges" posters haven't come along to tell us they were wrong their opinion on the outcome.

JellySaurus · 01/12/2021 12:24

There is apparently no correct way for a woman to respond to being bullied. If she maintains a dignified silence, then obviously she wasn't upset, so it's not really bullying. If she responds angrily, or appears to be hurt, then obviously she is just as bad as the person bullying her.

And yet a hate crime is defined as

Any criminal offence which is perceived by the victim or any other person, to be motivated by hostility or prejudice

Unfortunately the one protected characteristic that is deliberately left out of this definition is sex. So, while his appalling misogyny-driven behaviour should be prosecuted as hate crime regardless of the target's response, it cannot be.

KaycePollard · 01/12/2021 12:35

Unfortunately the one protected characteristic that is deliberately left out of this definition is sex.

It was omitted from hate crime legislation because I think even the police responded that if sex were included ,they would spend all their time following up serious sexist/misogynist hate crimes.

That is how normalised hating women is.

I'm not clear on why Joss hasn't yet revealed the secret that is going to exonerate AH immediately. I mean, seriously Joss, time is running out!

You do need to declare suspensions when applying for jobs and as part of annual appraisal although I don’t know if you only declare for appraisal if it’s occurred in that year. This would then be reviewed every 5 years as part of revalidation.
As for employing someone who has been suspended…it would be a massive red flag but General Practice is on its knees in so many areas that even a misogynist twat would be better than no doctor at all for some. And of course, there will be some in the media who won’t see it as a bar to him becoming a ‘celebrity’ doctor at all. Just look at Dr Jessen!

PronounssheRa · 01/12/2021 13:16

Unfortunately the one protected characteristic that is deliberately left out of this definition is sex.

That's is true but some of Harrops victims are covered by other strands of hate crime legislation. Including religion, disability, sexual orientation and race. Its entirely possible to report his actions to the police as hate incidents.

DdraigGoch · 01/12/2021 13:37

I was originally of the opinion that no one should lose their job for their views, and that a suspension (and permanent mark on his record) would be punishment enough. Then I read the Glinner blog.

Frankly the man is dangerous, he needs locking up!

RepentMotherfucker · 01/12/2021 13:49

Thanks that's helpful. I think the point is that you end up only really having a hope of getting jobs that are less popular and you can't pick and choose. Any job with a number of applicants will screen out obvious red flags like this in the first round.

And I think the media career is sunk unless it's with some absolute extremist outfit which would see this as a positive, Prick News maybe? Jessen too!

inawe · 01/12/2021 14:22

If there is a next time he probably faces being struck off.
I would hazard a guess that there WILL be a next time as he shows no real comprehension that he has done anything wrong. His arrogance will probably be his downfall.

Nice to see he's keeping out of the press. He's learnt nothing.

Ghostsintheshelf · 01/12/2021 15:02

I adore this photo from that Vice article. It paints such a grim, depressing picture of his life, and it's the image of every bullied anti-hero in fiction before they break bad.

They call him 'the doctor' an awful awful lot in that article.

Presumably he's not 'The Doctor'?

BreadInCaptivity · 01/12/2021 16:04

The 34-year-old said: “Having my personal life, actions, professionalism, and personality debated on a public stage has been horrendous. It’s been humiliating and embarrassing, but I am coming out of this stronger and more determined.”

I see it's all me, me, me.

No reflection whatsoever about his patients and victims of his bullying.

Jeeeez · 01/12/2021 16:11

I see it's all me, me, me

Absolutely.
Well if he's back in front of the mpts again it'll be the archives!

KaycePollard · 01/12/2021 16:15

“Having my personal life, actions, professionalism, and personality debated on a public stage has been horrendous. It’s been humiliating and embarrassing, but I am coming out of this stronger and more determined.”

The lack of self-knowledge or insight in this is jaw-dropping. What did he think he was doing to Ms Farrow or Dr Moody?

The bully's been bit.

‘And I think the media career is sunk unless it's with some absolute extremist outfit which would see this as a positive, Prick News maybe? Jessen too!‘

Tbh I don’t think the media career was ever going to happen as he doesn’t come across on tv with enough warmth or charisma.
If it was a possibility it will have been sunk by the Posie interview in which he comes across as a petty vindictive frother with no self possession and not very bright to boot.

An interesting analysis.

Maybe we should see that clip again. Just in the interests of objectivity like Smile
