The problem with AH and the people he keeps company with, is they don't realise how insulated their echo chamber is.

All involved in that article and publicly defending him genuinely don't have sight of how the wider population would view their stance.

Lovelyricepudding · 29/11/2021 14:01

Has our friendly Robin deleted their tweet yet?

BreadInCaptivity · 29/11/2021 14:02

Ok so looking like suspension.

Anyone want nail their flag to the mast re: how long?

I'm going for 12 months. Simply because of the Vice article. Otherwise I'd have gone for 6.

The GMC have backed off erasure so I'm guessing they'll want the maximum suspension and the Panel were pretty scathing on his level of reflection - so I feel they'll want to see this evolve over a significant period of time.

ditalini · 29/11/2021 14:04

Is his defence still arguing that "yes it looks bad but if you knew why he was so horrible to those biatches you'd understand" - or am I misunderstanding the "context" they're saying wasn't investigated?

murasaki · 29/11/2021 14:05

Out of interest, would it be a paid or unpaid suspension?

Nope you're not misunderstanding.

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/11/2021 14:05

@Motorina will they announce the sanction decision now or is it likely to come after further in camera deliberation?

Unpaid.

@BoreOfWhabylon further deliberation and writing up of reasons. Tomorrow maybe?

(Sorry - out with dogs hence terse!)

I was just about to write similar. I genuinely feel hopeful that Harrop will seek counsel from somebody outside his bubble. He might not respect them but in order to make reparations he will have to demonstrate growth.

He'll never be a TERF. But if he can at least, in a thought experiment, stand on the other side of the line and view his own actions from another perspective this tribunal will have merit.

On this topic he may be able to one day see more depth. I fail to understand how doctors can consider the enormous case rises of gender dysphorai and trickle of abusers of those systems - and still remain steadfast to only affirming gender etc.

Nasturs · 29/11/2021 14:07

I think the chances of him keeping his gob shut for 12 months is minimal.

Lovelyricepudding · 29/11/2021 14:07

How long can you be suspended for until that time itself becomes an issue? Would you need to undertake refresher training?

Motorina · 29/11/2021 14:08

@murasaki not just unpaid but unable to refer to himself as a medical dr, GP, etc, thus limiting media opportunities

JackieWeaversZoomAc · 29/11/2021 14:08

"Suspension doesn't remediate but leaves him in the cold"
on a super frosty day too!

FindTheTruth · 29/11/2021 14:08

Adrian Harrop’s barrister is MrGiles Powell(GP) saying "his actions haven't been that serious to warrant a suspension. There is no patient safety issue as this is only about SM events in 2018-19 (one event in 2020)"

Doubletoilandtrouble · 29/11/2021 14:09

So Posie could call him Mr Harrop and he would not be allowed to correct her?

murasaki · 29/11/2021 14:10

Thanks, I did think it should be that, but was unsure. And yes, if he can't call himself a doctor during that period, that is going to hurt him in the ego department. Good.

However if he then can tweet as a private individual, which I guess he has every right to do, will he stop? I'm not sure his insight is enough to realise that that will harm his comeback from suspension.

He's just a bit thick, really, isn't he.

Datun · 29/11/2021 14:10

Me too. He might not be on Twitter, but it's on Instagram.
Terfydactyl · 29/11/2021 14:10

@UncleTonyinahotpinkbrandbeanie

I cannot remember - could he be ordered to have a psychiatric evaluation?

I think his interest in medicine is about personal status and control of others rather than a genuine desire to heal. The fascination with the dead makes me think he’d be better suited to pathology or in a research role rather than something directly patient facing.

Was it harrop who visited JonBenet Ramsays grave? Bloody weird thing to do. I'm not sure he should be anywhere near medicine at all, in any capacity.
Good news though, was reading the farms thread on him.
murasaki · 29/11/2021 14:11

@Doubletoilandtrouble - haha, that would be very funny indeed.

FindTheTruth · 29/11/2021 14:11

'only' about bullying, doxxing and threatening women. !!

AIBU to think that the panel have already made up their minds regardless of what is said today?

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 29/11/2021 14:11

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine

"The tribunal considered that Dr Harrop was good at articulating insight, but when the opportunity had arisen to demonstrate this - specifically in relation to the interview with VICE Global - he had failed to do so."

Ouch...

I've rarely seen something so well couched.
