The police are involved and all three have locked their accounts.

I hope their agents will take note.

That's not what I'm saying, it's possible to both applaud JKR for standing up for women And feel that the way she has done it regarding this specific tweet has brought attention to something that she requested be kept private (her address) - the Streisand Effect.

I understand what you are saying, but the original tweet only needs to be seen by a few people for there to be a risk of harm. From her tweet thread her aim is to highlight the harm caused by this deliberate intimidation - to all women who have been targeted - and to make it clear that she will take action.

I think she made the right call.

SolasAnla · 23/11/2021 17:13

@Journeyofthedragons

I agree with what you're saying *@HoardingSamphireSaurus*, I don't understand why she asked for people who reposted the picture showing her address to remove it when it was inevitable that her tweet would give her address more exposure.
Here is an idea

Doxxing is against Twitter's T&C. The report function allows users to report tweets which dox. Doxxing tweets are not limited to a version of the original one so can be a picture screenshot or text

Decent users can tweet at an account asking for them to remove the tweet themselves. If the account does it saves Twitter the bother of having to remove it.

Decent users can include @Twitter plus JKR's @ or similar # to help her legal team monitor how effectively Twitter is in removing the data.

PS any chance you can explain risk, the 3 activists and your mass shooter theory?

AssassinatedBeauty · 23/11/2021 17:14

I'm quite sure that JKR factored any additional attention into her decision making process and decided that the action she took was appropriate. More people may know her address now, or how to find it out, but they also now know that she won't take these nasty little stunts lying down and just put up and shut up as her critics (and apparently her "big fans") want. There will be appropriate reactions directed to Twitter et al, as well as to the police where necessary.

@Rightsraptor

Though 'Peaked by Pie' conjures images of a lemon meringue pie with clouds of fluffiness atop. Hmmmm ...
The truth is a lemon meringue, after all.
CompleteGinasaur · 23/11/2021 17:24

Strangely, though, this one seems to leave a very nasty taste in your mouth...

ItsRainingProstateOwners · 23/11/2021 17:43

Haven’t RTFT but Nadhim Zahawi has tweeted in support of JKR.

@SolasAnla “Can you reorganise that thought flow into something that reads like full sentence?
Thanks”

Well, I mean, if you’re in a grammatical glass house, maybe don’t throw stones?

I’ve noticed that you seem to be pursuing some sort of Poirot-esque forensic questioning in this thread. “I ask again” etc.

Do you think that those three clowns posting an intimidating photo and message outside JKR’s house is in any way acceptable?

334bu · 23/11/2021 17:46

As they might say up here Complete
It's bowffin!!! 🤧

SolasAnla · 23/11/2021 17:55

@FindTheTruth

Twitter's algorithm is showing TRA replies and hiding the supporter replies.
That's may be a bit of an own goal because a lot of the early accounts who were defending the actions were account which put the ick in ick factor.
RepentMotherfucker · 23/11/2021 18:01

@TinselAngel

Well thank goodness for 2 drag acts and a Casualty extra being there to save her from being forgotten about altogether.

Particularly since the demise of The Bill, all actors have been in Casualty. It'll probably be my turn to be in Casualty eventually and I'm not even an actor.

This is a very very good point. Can't get through a theatre programme without 25 references to Casualty.

I don't suppose even Holby City will want them now though. TIE? It is where actors go to fade away...

You've just made me think of the anti smoking campaign in the 90's with the blue planet and the lassie saying 'that's bogging!'. It was all you heard at my school for months!

They might even be forced to appear in " Shieldinch" , but that might be a step too far.

334bu · 23/11/2021 18:07

Sorry River City.Shieldinch is where it is set.

334bu · 23/11/2021 18:10

I was once offered a taste of someone's home economics " risotto" with the irresistible " do you want some, it's bogging?"

Kendodd · 23/11/2021 18:20

Do trans women routinely get death and rape threats from women on the internet?

Waitwhat23 · 23/11/2021 18:22

I swear, every person I know who has the vaguest interest in acting has been on River City.

Kendodd · 23/11/2021 18:25

TRA remind me a little bit of ISIS. Anyone remember when the Pope said Islam was violent (or words to that effect) and some Islamic extremists in Africa murdered that poor nun because they were so angry at such a suggestion.

Grin I bet you were so tempted!

Found the bogging advert -

And the brilliant -

Public Health Scotland used to do great campaigns.

MichelleScarn · 23/11/2021 18:38

Ah @Waitwhat23! Loved that, total flashback there, a mix of Atomic Kitten, All Saints and who else?

@MidsomerMurmurs

*) If you are going to critique my sentence construction please be helpful and provide an alternative.

*) I joined the thread around 14:00 you can do a word search for
"creating a file Nutjob#### to risk asses" (😳 assess)
and you can track why I am asking that question

*) read from my first post onward and you can judge for yourself.
(I am happy to clarify any sentence or thought flow which you have questions on👍)

I understand too where journey is coming from and feel that the accusations of victim blaming etc are a little unfair.

The people that shared the tweet, even if in support, should have acted more responsibly though. I also think overall JKR made the right call.

I always got a Sugababes vibe from it - one of the singers is the absolute spit of Siobhan(?) from the original line up. I think I googled it once to check if it actually was her!
beastlyslumber · 23/11/2021 19:03

I'm sure JK is in the best situation to decide what the right course of action is for herself, her family, and for the women she is trying to protect.

She is clearly not a rash or impulsive person. She will have thought through every step carefully and with consideration to all the various issues.

I find it a bit distasteful that people are discussing what they would have done or claiming that she made the wrong call. You aren't in her situation; no one is, except for her. She's the one who has to make the decision and deal with the fall out.

All we can do is give her our support and encouragement.

TinselAngel · 23/11/2021 19:04

I bet a lot of them have also been in Doctors by now.

It's been a while since I bought a theatre programme though.

Helleofabore · 23/11/2021 19:34

Most feminists I saw on twitter RT tweets that were screenshots and had the address covered. Many people were aware from previous incidents how to raise awareness of the incident without perpetuating the disclosure of the address.
