Our work continues until the world we imagine is the world we live in.

What about the worlds other people imagine, Stonewall? Where lesbians are free to state they don't want penises? Where homosexuals don't feel pressured to consider other 'genders'? And where organisations will fight for people who are same-sex attracted without absolutely everything having to be all about trans people?

TabithaTiger · 10/11/2021 14:18

That's so interesting. People are starting to find their voice and speak up at my organisation. It feel like the tide may well be starting to turn.

MrsJamin · 10/11/2021 14:19

This is brilliant. Only just this morning I was checking which trans affirming charities Children In Need supports and found this - they're not getting any of my money this year as "5 projects to the value of £400,000 are focused specifically on gender identity". Gendered Intelligence being one of them with funding of £135,576 to provide children as young as 4 with lessons which encourage them to explore their 'gender identities'. I hope that CIN quickly regain their independence from Stonewall's clutches and severs links with all 5 of these projects.

@ahagwearsapointybonnet

Fantastic news! Well done to Nolan and Thompson, and everyone in the BBC and other media who's spoken out! And to everyone who has written/emailed/complained to the BBC about the relationship, however small-scale GrinStarGlitterball
We should all be writing thanks again for this.

I don’t think the bbc will doubt they are right, but it still helps for them to hear how much support there is for them doing this from the general public.

It’ll be on my list for tomorrow.

“Our work continues until the world we imagine is the world we live in”

Chilling from Stonewall. We don’t want your imagined world thank you very much!

CatChant · 10/11/2021 14:20

Hallelujah!

Looks like the witch-hunters overreached themselves.

Clymene · 10/11/2021 14:20

Well this is excellent news. I think the fact they have left both schemes speaks volumes.

I also hope the publicity this gets will lead to HR and PR departments of other big corporates having a hard think about whether membership of stonewall is helping or hindering their public image.

LizzieSiddal · 10/11/2021 14:20

Fantastic news about the BBC. Thanks to all those who have stuck their neck out, including MNHQ.

I’m sure someone can post info/links better than I can, but I’m sure there are some very serious ethical issues with CIN anyways.
This one hurts them. Here's their response. They haven't commented on any other incidents of organisations pulling out. Self inflicted

www.stonewall.org.uk/about-us/news/stonewall-statement-bbc-leaving-diversity-champions-programme
I note that their statement with all its claims that one-in-five LGBTQ+ people are discriminated against at work cites no source for its allegations, certainly no footnotes indicating how many LGBTQ+ job-seekers were polled and how rigorously their answers were checked.

Just last week Stonewall advocates were gunning for the BBC for citing Angela Wild's social media poll about male-sexed people claiming to be lesbians because it wasn't rigorously carried out. Hmmm.

Hoardasurass · 10/11/2021 14:24

🥳

ChattyLion · 10/11/2021 14:30

Very good point made about future project funding from Children in Need.

JoyousAsOtters · 10/11/2021 14:33

Will they be immediately reviewing their children's programming I wonder?

lazylinguist · 10/11/2021 14:33

Brilliant news!

MrsJamin · 10/11/2021 14:35

@BloodinGutters I'm sure you're right.

DumplingsAndStew · 10/11/2021 14:36

What a shame. The stonewall statement was trying so hard at pretending they weren't just about trans people 😂 They seem to have missed out the bit here where they change 'trans' to 'LGBTQ+'

The BBC announces it is leaving Stonewall
doublemonkey · 10/11/2021 14:38

Wow, just WOW!!

WAGMI!

bellinisurge · 10/11/2021 14:39

I love how binning the No Debate nonsense constitutes hate.

It's a great scam, to be fair, blocking all discussion of the implications for women and girls and then, when someone dares to have that discussion, call it "increasing transphobia in the media" which makes transgender people feel "unsafe".

The "moral panic " the TRAs blather on about is actually a panic they have created. They are panicking trans people into believing that discussion of anything to do with women's rights puts them at an existential risk.

Embroidery · 10/11/2021 14:44

Yes!
Brilliant news

andyoldlabour · 10/11/2021 14:45

I know it is early but to Stephen and all the reasonable people at the beeb and to everyone on here who has contacted them to leave comments Wine

NewBeginning39 · 10/11/2021 14:48

Fan-fucking-tastic news 🥳
Take note DoE!

MidsomerMurmurs · 10/11/2021 14:51

Hurrah!

Sophoclesthefox · 10/11/2021 14:52

@MrsOvertonsWindow

So pleased the BBC said: has led some to question whether the BBC can be impartial

That's the question every government department, organisation and school should be asking. Following the demands of those enforcing queer theory is not impartial.

Hell, yeah.

Pleased about this, because it improves the prospect of the Beeb recommitting to impartiality- a very important value for an institution that effectively, we have no choice about funding.
