Beardy bros having a meltdown saying LGBT rights are being rolled back, all the while ignoring LGBT ppl disagreeing. BBB's blinkered beardy bros

FindTheTruth · 10/11/2021 15:36

well said flying. that explains where BBB's got the lie from

Diva66 · 10/11/2021 15:37

About time too.

GreenUp · 10/11/2021 15:43

According to the Pink News article on this..... The BBC Director General Tim Davie "announced that the BBC will now work with INvolve UK on LGBT+ inclusion in the workplace going forward. INvolve UK is a diversity and inclusion consultancy group set up by Suki Sandhu."

This seems to be the website www.involvepeople.org/about/

Not sure if they will be any better or not.

Datun · 10/11/2021 15:44

Good. They couldn't in all conscience remain connected to them, after that Nolan podcast. Bloody well done to Nolan and Thompson.

As for that self-serving load of manipulative drivel that stonewall put out. For fuck's sake. Don't they get it yet? Everyone knows that they don't even know what an L, G or B person is. And they include cross dressers and transvestites under the T.

Gone are the days where they can hide behind homosexual rights.

At Stonewall, we stand for LGBTQ+ people everywhere. We imagine a world where all of us are free to be ourselves and can live our lives to the full. We face rising intolerance degrading our hard-won rights. But we won't be silenced. Not until all of us are free to be proud, free to be loved, free to be together, free to be who we are.

Course you do, Malcolm.

@MrsJamin

This is brilliant. Only just this morning I was checking which trans affirming charities Children In Need supports and found this - they're not getting any of my money this year as "5 projects to the value of £400,000 are focused specifically on gender identity". Gendered Intelligence being one of them with funding of £135,576 to provide children as young as 4 with lessons which encourage them to explore their 'gender identities'. I hope that CIN quickly regain their independence from Stonewall's clutches and severs links with all 5 of these projects.
I will make £zero BBC Children In Need donation this year. I do not wish to fund harm to children. Thanks for the info.

At least Involve champion women in industry.

Aaaand - meltdown by the usual suspects in 5, 4, 3...

JoodyBlue · 10/11/2021 15:54

Stonewall's statement is so non-reflective. For what it is worth, of the 3 bullet points made about discrimination, perhaps we might substitute middle aged woman for the sector under discussion. And perhaps we might also consider that life would be much easier for all of us, if we all stopped taking offence so easily and consider individuals on their merits.

-- Almost one in five women over age 45 have been the target of negative comments or conduct from work colleagues because they're middle aged.

-- More than a third of middle aged women have hidden or disguised that they are middle aged at work because they were afraid of discrimination.

-- Almost one in five middle aged women who were looking for work said they were discriminated against because of their age and sex while trying to get a job.

As others have said, well done Nolan and Thompson.

On the money from the DofE, DD's school is a Stonewall Champion. Which I assume means they have to pay them something, and yet more money gone from an education budget, but I can't find Stonewall's price list or going rates anywhere.

peppersauce1984 · 10/11/2021 16:00

Well done Stephen Nolan on investigating this issue with stonewall.

Nolan raised and debated (yesterday on his morning show) the new proposed legislation in NI about ending period poverty (fab!) but no mention of women, girls, females and apparently men can have periods too. The SDLP (NI's equivalent to Labour) will lose a lot of votes over this ridiculous proposal.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 10/11/2021 16:04

This is very good news, but very overdue.

The BBC is meant to be independent, and in the past it has been proud of criticising the government. Yet it handed over a chunk of editorial control to a very controversial and divisive lobby group: unbelievable.

For years, it allowed Stonewall to dictate the tone and content of BBC reporting on issues in which Stonewall was deeply involved. If no one in BBC management realised this issue affected women's rights and children's safety, they must have been deliberately keeping their eyes shut. They have done huge damage to the BBC's worldwide reputation.

endofagain · 10/11/2021 16:08

I never donate to CIN. I am appalled at some of the people they give viewers hard earned cash to. I choose my charities very carefully, do my research and donate directly. I wish everyone would do that.

endofagain · 10/11/2021 16:10

Sorry. Spelling, grammar and punctuation have deserted me today.

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/11/2021 16:12

@CruellaDeVilla

And unintentional irony here:

“Our work continues until the world we imagine is the world we live in”

This phrase is chilling.

Thank god the BBC is out. It’s time!

Hard to tell. The website is chock full of vacuous phrases and very light on detail.

The only specifics about what and who they even mean by “diversity and inclusion” I could find was references to micro-aggressions, white privilege and white fragility”.

I am not yet convinced this organisation has a very nuanced understanding of any of the 9 PCs of the EA, or how to eradicate discrimination.

@TravisFountain

Well done Stephen Nolan, David Thompson and - tbf - Tim Davie.

About bloody time. That Stonewalled staff networks were permitted to successfully make demands on and influence editorial policy will always remain a disgraceful episode in the BBC's history.

Absolutely

Nearly all the people I see complaining about this are men. Some men have never liked having their privilege challenged and hate women having any influence or voice.

Same as it ever was 🙄

Phobiaphobic · 10/11/2021 16:24

About bloody time.

Gumbomambo · 10/11/2021 16:28

Fantastic news.

ArabellaScott · 10/11/2021 16:30

Media watchdog Ofcom, the Equality Human Rights Commission and the government's Equalities Office and Ministry of Justice are among the other bodies to have pulled out.

That is a pretty impressive group of heavy hitters, there, who have withdrawn from the scheme. And increasingly, citing issues to do with impartiality and dubious legal advice, rather than the first few orgs to leave, who muttered something about cost savings.
