Just seen this on twitter.

Thank you, finding this really interesting reading at the moment in general. I haven’t ever really taken the time to educate myself about the trans community and the issues that arise for women surrounding.

What has triggered all of this towards her? Her book? I haven’t read it, I’m assuming it’s not easy to give a quick translation of what she has said in her book?

I know she doesn’t want the term women to be redefined, which is fair enough.
But what has triggered such disgusting behaviour?

tbh, I didn't because of KS's treatment of the transwidows that she interviewed.

However, this brouhaha and her resignation means that I now have as a gesture of support and a move towards shifting a fairly academic text towards a reprint.

She and Helen Joyce would make a formidable interview team.

I don't understand why this interview isn't mentioned/publicised in the content details for today's WH on BBC Sounds. Perhaps (giving BBC the benefit of the doubt) it was a last-minute arrangement?

Don't be too confident that the BBC has changed it's spots. I had the 3rd reply to my complaint about their Laurel Hubbard puff piece a few days back - saying yes they were fine to use female as a descriptor, that 'she was assigned male at birth' etc.

I missed it, but saw the clip on Twitter. Jesus the poor woman looks utterly shellshocked.

Most of us would be. Very few people can take that kind of negative attention without it shaking them to their core.

Quite apart from the personal anxiety, it would shake your view of yourself, and humanity.

She talks about 100 people pointing. This isn't just a few zealous twits from the student union.

I hope she reads these sorts of comments and understands that despite it looking overwhelming, most people utterly disagree with those violent extremists.

And yes to the comment up thread that says she is standing up for other students who want to say 2+2 does not equal 5.

Other people, students, academics are frightened of this ideology. And her bravery in publicising what is happening to her is of enormous benefit to them.

Why hasn’t anyone who persecuted, bullied and made her life hell been punished?
I suppose the authorities are too scared of the backlash.

Shameful moment in the interview when the Labour Party’s equalities minister Taiwo Owatemi MP was mentioned by name as supporting this mob.

Why is the Labour Party so blind on this issue? They think we women don’t care?

Kathleen's book, Material Girls is available from Amazon and other places. It's well written and easy to read. She stresses her support and respect for trans people throughout the book.

It simply says, ‘Royal Ballet principal, Leanne Benjamin; Richard Ratcliffe’. Is the BBC ashamed of the interview? This makes me really angry as this is a hugely important interview.

I have just bought her book. I have huge respect for her and am so angry that she has been bullied, abused and silenced for so long. This really shows that women need to fight to be heard on this issue.

And, yes, whether it's for security or fear of the reaction, it's disappointing that such interview can rarely be publicised by the BBC.

Woman bullied because she objected to sexism.

Interesting letter in last week's Private Eye from a transwoman. Saying that there isn't a debate, and there shouldn't be a debate, trotting out the "my existence is not up for debate". Mind you, if my ideology was incredibly shaky and depended on the subjugation of other groups, I probably wouldn't want to subject it to the scrutiny of debate either.

It is a wearyingly familiar pattern that whenever anyone publicly dissents on trans issues (no matter how moderately or respectfully), they are met with an overwhelming and totally disproportionate reaction from trans activists. Particularly if they are female. So the extremity of the reaction doesn't line up at all with anything Kathleen Stock has actually said.

At its most extreme end, this has led to physical assaults on women (Julie Bindel, Maria Maclachlan) and efforts to drive women who are concerned about the impacts of trans politics on women out of employment (Kathleen Stock, Jo Phoenix, Maya Forstater). All of which has a much wider chilling effect on others who share their concerns.
