shesellsseacats · 20/09/2021 10:23

Emma's on fire this morning!

CreepingDeath · 20/09/2021 10:24

I wish the presenter would ask Lib Dems about the huge donations they have received from Ferring Pharmaceuticals in the last few years. A company that produces puberty blockers.

"as a mother ".... what kind of fucking nonsense is that for a politician to say?

nauticant · 20/09/2021 10:24

One of the most frustrating things about this issue is how trans activists successfully frame it as them "supporting trans rights" and their opponents being "against trans rights".

SageHoney · 20/09/2021 10:26

Christine Jadine was previously best known for arguing very doggedly that women are in no need of single-sex facilities because men use the loo at your house. She was very impressive in the way she simply would not listen to any kind of reason or logic or facts, but simply insisted on herself.

(Perhaps "impressive" isn't the right word, but you get the idea ... )

littlbrowndog · 20/09/2021 10:27

Thanks for post on here

Went to listen

Omg that woman will not answer a question

futureghost · 20/09/2021 10:27

This!

I wish Emma had countered with, but what about the women's lives that are being affected? Those women in prisons and refugees are sports individuals too!

bellinisurge · 20/09/2021 10:27

"What men went through in the 80s". Lesbians don't count. Jesus Christ. More sunlight on these idiots is what they need.
No Debate is over.
The debate was "toxic" because you idiots wouldn't have one and , instead, launched vile abuse at people who asked questions.
Answer the fucking questions or hand another election to the Tories

littlbrowndog · 20/09/2021 10:28

Yeah Emma said you are not being asked as a mother

You are being asked as a politician

littlbrowndog · 20/09/2021 10:29

Puberty can be as early as 10 !!

How can a 10 year old give informed consent

ScreamingMeMe · 20/09/2021 10:30

I'm so tired of the appeals to emotion. Policy and law is not made based on people you know who are nice!

OvaHere · 20/09/2021 10:31

@nauticant

She's now saying that the most important thing she ever heard was at a LibDem conference: the wife of transwoman spoke movingly about how her husband had had his suicidality solved by transition which meant their kiddies didn't lose a parent. Hooray!
I imagine this was the wife of Helen Belcher (who is very involved in the Lib Dems at a high level).

It's more usual to regard threats of suicide in domestic relationships as a potential red flag for coercive control. It's a dynamic that often appears on the Relationships board here.

bellinisurge · 20/09/2021 10:31

@SageHoney , is she another "your loo at home is mixed sex?" Bloody hell, they are toast if that's the best they have.

Thelnebriati · 20/09/2021 10:32

Can someone ask why third spaces aren't the answer?
Because as soon as they explain why third spaces aren't what they want, it becomes clear that its not a human rights movement.
No human rights movement removes the human rights of another group.

TooWicked · 20/09/2021 10:35

84844 is the number if anyone wants to text.

nauticant · 20/09/2021 10:35

I think one thing that's changed is journalists who like to enhance their profile by showing up politicians as being clueless, mendacious, or preferably both, have realised that if they get a trans activist politician on their programme they can ask them some pretty simple questions and just watch as the politician implodes.

WarriorN · 20/09/2021 10:35

I'm listening again, Emma crammed so much in.

I think she does follow this. She knows her shit

Been biding her time.

Yes I believe so Ova. Funny how they’re never moved by the stories of TransWidows isnt it

Melroses · 20/09/2021 10:37

@Jaysmith71

....and she's 'been on a journey....'
Or Passpartout on someone else's journey.
DrBlackbird · 20/09/2021 10:38

Missed half of the conversation. Did Emma ask for examples of the toxicity? Examples of how/where those not agreeing that TWAW (regardless) were not allowed to speak/debate? Or ask if Libdems also disagree with the dictionary definition of a man?

terryleather · 20/09/2021 10:38

This.

I have a lovely Dad who I absolutely trust and adore, he'd never do anything awful to women and children therefore all men can be trusted 100% and we should bin all safeguarding and safe spaces for women - that is the level of argument.

Just insulting to everyone's intelligence.
