Is trending at number 1 in the UK at present. I haven't been around all day so I'm not sure what this has happened in response to and came here to find out, but there aren't any threads. Heart breaking reading these stories and the effects on rape victims who can't access support services because they've been excluded by male-centring policy.

There is a thread but it's not immediately obvious from the name - it's got 'Guilty Feminist' in the title.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 10/08/2021 19:21

I think people here are wary because of the sanctions previously imposed when discussing this organsation and its CEO!

There has been a LOT of twatter action and mainstream media has picked up on one of the recent messages - raped women: don't bring your distorted thinking here, you will be re-educated!

I am currently discussing it in real life, with male and female counsellors, they are pretty horrified and worried about their client base here.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 10/08/2021 19:29

Glad it’s trending. More sunlight. I hope the mainstream press picks up on it and gives it even more.

Jaysmith71 · 10/08/2021 19:38

It's all about this:

"Sexual violence happens to bigoted people too. But if you bring beliefs that are discriminatory, expect to be challenged on your prejudice. Reframe your trauma"

I've been offline all day. Just settled down for some phone time and was completely surprised but happy to see this at the top of trending.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 10/08/2021 19:51

That hashtag has some tough reading in it.

What sort of a person would look at a traumatised woman and not give her whatever she asks for?

The CEO of Rape Crisis, that's who.

ArabellaScott · 10/08/2021 20:00

Good. Keep it trending. Let everyone see what is going on. Let women hear what The Guilty Feminist thinks, and what Mridhul Wadhwa thinks.

ArabellaScott · 10/08/2021 20:05

Nearly 10k Tweets.

Almost all women immediately understand, on a very visceral level, why a transwomen has no place describing rape victims as bigots.

Doyoumind · 10/08/2021 20:17

I wonder what the outcome will be, but I worry there will be no impact whatsoever.

MaudTheInvincible · 10/08/2021 20:17

Thanks all. I'll have a read of that thread. I hope it keeps trending. The responses show the clear actual harm caused by these cruel anti-women policies. Not that I expect anyone from the Scottish government to notice. I mean, these are only the stories of women after all, with the wrong, cunty type of lived experience.

It's interesting that you call feminists a cult, when there are much better uses I can think of for the word.

KittenKong · 10/08/2021 20:24

They have allowed someone to take on a senior position who should never have been offered the job I’m the first place (it’s been pointed out but their fingers and on their ears). Not to mention some pretty horrible comments they have made with regards to victims.

They have attacked women time and time again when they have asked for single sex facilities.

Now women are bigots who need to change their thinking (so a lecture before help?).

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/08/2021 20:24

Good. Keep it trending. Let everyone see what is going on. Let women hear what The Guilty Feminist thinks, and what Mridhul Wadhwa thinks.

Yes, exactly. Enough of this misogynistic nonsense.

No, women are ignored at best. Or we get insults, smears, sneers and more patronising messages about how we ought to feel, act, think, talk, etc ...

CatherinaJTV · 10/08/2021 20:25

what positive comes from this pile on for a young woman who got raped and is looking for help right now? You are creating barriers and there is nothing constructive about this. As said, Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre have been life saving for young women I know. Will go and donate some money and hope that this pile on will backfire and lead to more support for them.

You are talking about a trans woman, not a man.

We're talking about a male person who appears to have very little respect for women, judging by their previous actions and statements. In their own words.

AssassinatedBeauty · 10/08/2021 20:30

It really is not the people objecting to this person's comments about women and trauma that is creating barriers to women accessing Rape Crisis Scotland. They are managing that all on their own. I would think that the CEO's words have managed to alienate a huge percentage of women who have heard or read what they said. It's clear that I wouldn't be welcome there or treated without judgement if I ever needed the services they offered.

Beamur · 10/08/2021 20:33

If you think what the CEO is saying here is fine and dandy then you're part of the problem too.

PronounssheRa · 10/08/2021 20:34

Biologically and without a GRC, legally male. MW has themselves admitted that they have no GRC therefore no legal recognition of their gender.

If you distort language in the way you have the awfulness of what MW said is obscured.

If you support the CEO of a rape crisis centre talking about how 'bigots' need to be challenged in the context of rape counselling, then you will have no problem with Mridhul Wadhwa's words trending and being shared far and wide. Let everyone hear what Mridhul has to say.
