www.theguardian.com/society/2021/jul/18/dozens-arrested-in-los-angeles-as-anti-trans-protest-outside-spa-turns-violent

“Women carrying signs reading “protect female spaces” and “It’s worse in women’s shelters”. Calls to defend “female spaces” and “women’s shelters” have become rallying cries of anti-trans groups, who have falsely suggested that trans-inclusive policies endanger cis women.”

This, according to the Guardian, is what makes women anti-trans. It’s infuriating. Using “Falsely” to describe women’s experiences of having biological males in female spaces.

All this from one woman saying No to willies waggling in front of women and girls.

My husband asked me why we haven’t burned everyone the ground by now.

Frankly I’m so worn down by the whole thing I yelled at him that penis havers like him need to step up because until it affects men and their ability to have sex they just won’t care and we need can’t win this without their support.

They need to challenge MRAs who are behind TRAs and the misogynists who hate women.

Mamibaer · 18/07/2021 05:35

This article is so one-sided. An utter disgrace.

JustcameoutGC · 18/07/2021 05:50

So, looks like the guardian has answered the staniland question. Naked men around children, nooooo problem. Nothing to see here. No safe guarding issues at all.

FlowerArranger · 18/07/2021 05:52

I got so, so angry reading this. It's an opinion piece of the worst kind maskerading as news. Whatever happened to balanced reporting.

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 18/07/2021 05:53

I read that - it’s on the uk guardian but I think it’s a guardian Australia article? It’s appallingly written and biased with crowbarred QAnon refs to discredit

cariadlet · 18/07/2021 06:05

Incredibly biased article but what really depresses me is that so many left wing activists are TWAW, leaving the extreme right as the defenders of women's rights and safe spaces. I'm very left wing and hate finding myself on the same side as right wing extremists.

NotBadConsidering · 18/07/2021 06:09

It’s a Guardian US article. Sam Levin was one of those who wrote that “our journalism should be grounded in the principle that trans women are women”, which is weird for a journalist to openly state they want journalism to be based on a provable falsehood.

At least this puts to bed the argument that there wasn’t actually a naked male who climbing into a spa with a naked 9 year old girl. Clearly it did happen, and anyone who objects to such is “anti-trans” Hmm.

AMCoffeePMWine · 18/07/2021 06:12

I know The Guardian no longer allow comments, especially on articles like this. But I’ve hunted FB and Twitter to see if they’ve linked it, and I can’t find it. I have a stongly worded memo I need to send to someone.

Maybe tweet their more reasoned writers Hadley / Sonia
I’m bothered as even if I didn’t disagree with the tone ( which I do) I dislike opinion pieces masquerading as news. It degrades trust in the reporting.

Saltyslug · 18/07/2021 06:38

Very bias article with no thought about safeguarding children or women.

MiladyBerserko · 18/07/2021 06:44

Not clicking on it. Is there an archive anywhere.

Abhannmor · 18/07/2021 07:09

Such a lousy example of journalism apart from anything else. Reads like something from a school magazine. No attempt at balance whatsoever. Rather obvious attempts to ' fuzz up the message ' on safeguarding by dragging in all sorts of extraneous nonsense about Qanon etc. The kind of hit piece the Sun used to publish about gay people back in the 80s. Shame on you Viner.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 18/07/2021 07:24

There are more political colours than the left wing and the “extreme right”.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 18/07/2021 07:30

It's the most inaccurate article I have ever read on trans issues in the Guardian, which is truly saying something. It's not reporting, it's an editorial (a shit one), disguised as reportage:

Calls to defend “female spaces” and “women’s shelters” have become rallying cries of anti-trans groups, who have falsely suggested that trans-inclusive policies endanger cis women

Tell that to Karen White's victims.

WizardHowl · 18/07/2021 07:39

That was the final straw for me with the Guardian. I’ve been a daily reader for over 30 years, but I’m done now. This is an unbelievably biased, propagandist bullshit piece.

WarriorN · 18/07/2021 07:39

Look forward to Sodha's response Grin

Same here. I can’t take it any more.
GettingUntrapped · 18/07/2021 07:45

Yup, the most inaccurate, biased piece yet for the Guardian.
So it's ' right wing' to defend women's dignity.
I can unfortunately see our teenagers lapping it up.

GettingUntrapped · 18/07/2021 07:45

The Observer even.

cariadlet · 18/07/2021 07:47

@PaleBlueMoonlight

There are more political colours than the left wing and the “extreme right”.

True, but whenever I do something like the political compass quiz I always come out pretty close to the bottom left hand corner ie very economically left wing and socially very liberal.

The only area where I end up with common ground with the extreme right is that I disagree with TWAW. I come at it from a feminist angle, wanting to protect women's safe spaces etc. Some of the protesters at the Wi Spa look like the kind of MAGA idiots who stormed the Capitol and are likely to be coming at the issue from a socially Conservative, probably trad Christian angle. I hate being on the same side of an argument as people like that.

eurochick · 18/07/2021 07:48

The woman being shot with the rubber bullet was awful.

Aparallaxia · 18/07/2021 07:48

I just cancelled my recurring monthly contribution to the Guardian. I've been reading it since it was the Manchester Guardian and I feel like I've had an argument with a really old friend. I left them an angry message explaining why I was doing this. Made me feel about 1% better.

alkanet · 18/07/2021 07:55

I reckon we will see more of this. Both the violence and the propaganda. As more sunlight is shone & people get to know what is really going on, they will have to increase the pressure. I'm expecting a flood of new posters accusing us of being Qanon nutjobs.

CousinKrispy · 18/07/2021 08:00

I would love to see a calm, fact-based letter to the editor of the Guardian providing evidence that these concerns are not "baseless." I suppose even if they receive it, they won't print it.

Fucking US culture wars ruining everything.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/07/2021 08:05

I found that article very frustrating. I'm quite prepared to believe that extreme right-wing groups have jumped on the bandwagon here and that they are responsible for the violence. However, this kneejerk response 'If they say X, X must be wrong, so I now believe Y' is how we got into this mess.

The Guardian have upped their game, we’re now Anti-trans for asking for same-sex spaces
