Great points. The religious right-wing community told people exactly what their strategy was (split T from LGB) and "gender critical" ideologues bought right into it.

It really doesn't matter whether you're intentionally supporting them or whether you're just a useful idiot for them.

highame · 02/07/2021 12:00

How come a really high % of GC feminists are left wing?

merrymouse · 02/07/2021 12:22

The religious right-wing community

Such an important part of U.K. politics.

It really doesn't matter whether you're intentionally supporting them or whether you're just a useful idiot for them.

Because feminists aren’t capable of independent thought and haven’t been criticising gender for decades.

Your comment is just plain old fashioned sexist.

I don't use Twitter, is there a way of seeing the hidden replies?

I'm a non-religious left winger and I fight for what I believe is right, fair and based on evidence, not what makes me look politically trendy, thank you.
ScreamingMeMe · 02/07/2021 12:34

Christ almighty what an idiot.

BatmansBat · 02/07/2021 12:35

How can homosexual people not argue for a split of the T when biological males claim to be lesbians and biological females claim to be gay men?

These people are identifying into an oppressed group (homosexuals) who have been prosecuted for their sexuality for years. They still are in many countries.

And what does the US right wing religious idiot have to do with UK politics?

ScreamingMeMe · 02/07/2021 12:36

Pun intended.

FloralBunting · 02/07/2021 12:47

Black is right. She should certainly carry shame for her lies, her misogyny, her arrogance and the damage she is doing to the attitudes toward LGB people by pushing her bullshit. She is a young woman who has grown up with the privilege of LGB people before her campaigning for the equalities she now enjoys and seeks to use to leverage more privileges for men, and more abuses against women and LGB people more widely.

She is truly despicable.

To be clear, "homosexual" is viewed as a pejorative and pathologising term by most of the community.
FloralBunting · 02/07/2021 12:53

No it's not.
I am a homosexual.
To coin a phrase, deal with it.

merrymouse · 02/07/2021 12:54

But this isn’t about equality, it’s about riding roughshod over other people’s rights to assert your own identity. What could be more right wing?

However given that the SNP is fundamentally a nationalist party, maybe that shouldn’t be too surprising.

yeahbutnaw · 02/07/2021 12:56

Good for you. I am too. And it's not a mental disorder. Hence no need to refer to with a pathological descriptor.
FloralBunting · 02/07/2021 13:01

Heterosexual isn't a pathologic descriptor, neither is bisexual, neither is homosexual.

You call yourself what you want. Given that you believe gender overrides sex, I've got no idea how you're defining homosexual there, for all I know, you may be a male attracted to females, so I really place no store in your opinion or desire to shut down people who are attracted to their own sex, particularly women, which seems to be a favourite pastime for you.

I will not be replying to you again, so please, feel free rail into the silence.

BatmansBat · 02/07/2021 13:02

I am trying to understand here, do trans people think that homosexual is a derogatory term?

yeahbutnaw · 02/07/2021 13:10

@BatmansBat

No, gay people do.

If you want people to respect your wishes not to call them Cis, it seems really inconsistent to force the label "homosexual" on people who don't want it.

Redapplewreath · 02/07/2021 13:12

Bollocks. I'm a female homosexual. I have been forced to use that term to describe myself to intentionally avoid confusion since the term 'lesbian' has been adapted by gender ideology to something that is in my belief actively homophobic and does not encompass me. Nor am I 'queer'. I do not see it in the least as something to be ashamed of, I marched and fought for the right to be proud of being homosexual. So whatever you're talking about is your problem, not mine.

I respect that you have your own belief system. It is not shared by everyone, and cannot be stated as objective fact representative of a community you certainly don't speak for all of.

FloralBunting · 02/07/2021 13:12

BatmansBat

Gay people do not object to the term homosexual. The Q slur community seem to, though, which is all kind of sickeningly ironic.

You're acting like this is some new-fangled debate. Arguments against the term started a few decades ago.

It's all there on Wikipedia if you'd care to take a look.

Redapplewreath · 02/07/2021 13:14

You've already created your own term - Superlesbian. You can use that. It helps to distinguish you from normal gay people.

....... I'm sorry, you what? What exactly was that appalling piece of homophobia?!

yourhairiswinterfire · 02/07/2021 13:17

Yet it's fine for homosexuals to have the slur ''qu*r forced on to them, yeah?

Rules for thee but not for me, ''amirite''?

aliasundercover · 02/07/2021 13:17

No it isn't.

'Queer', on the other hand ...

FloralBunting · 02/07/2021 13:18

I reported it. Jaw dropping bigotry. You make it clear you are homosexual, this person tells you you must use the term they decide, and then says you're not normal. Jesus wept.

BatmansBat · 02/07/2021 13:19

Well, from what I see here and given what I know of the posters, it seems that homosexuals is the word we should use. That was what I thought given how the word lesbian has been appropriated by the MTF trans community.

It doesn’t surprise me that an ideology which argues that biological sex should be discarded (prisons, hospitals, sports) are unhappy by people defining their sexuality based on biological sex.

This policing of language by people who are looking for validation is pathetic unusual
