@teawamutu

I'm not depressed like I normally am the day after a setback.

Partly because we literally couldn't buy the publicity this loss has given us. And partly because I'm more in a 'fuck this shit we riot at dawn' space.

Judicial reviews don't work for us because so much of this crap is legal. So let's fucking sue.

Can we crowdfund for the victim? Can we set up the GC Law Project and have a fighting fund for cases?

And if it's legal, the law must change. Writing to my MP today.

Also writing my MP, as is DH.
Waitwhat23 · 03/07/2021 21:22

Impressed to see that the crowdfunder has jumped from just over £3k to just over £5k since this morning!

Kate's interview on GB News
twitter.com/GBNEWS/status/1411415745712513024?s=09
She's so clear precise. Well done.
Neil Oliver was so scared of saying the 'wrong' thing which amazed me considering the channel is supposed to be for free speech. I don't think he knew anything about the subject.
There was another interviewee who's name I didn't catch who was minimising numbers etc

TheHandmadeTails · 03/07/2021 23:02

Katy Jon Went. I had never seen KJW until a couple of weeks ago but recently popped up on Today and GB News.

Kate Coleman was fantastic! So clear. GB News do seem to actually let their guests speak and finish their points.

Welloff · 04/07/2021 08:26

Op can you link to the 2009 case you mention in the interview? Is it online?

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 04/07/2021 09:15

dear god this is so fucking depressing.

I've donated to the crowdfunder (and will do so again next month if it's still running)

I've written to my MP

what else can I do?

Mixed sex prisons in the UK. Women prisoners being used like therapy dogs for violent males.

it's unconscionable.

Outbutnotoutout · 04/07/2021 10:44
Getting the women ready to be raped, but making sure there's no evidence (babies)

C**ts

If you put these terms into a search engine it should be the top result.

"Whether that poster recognises their argument is exactly the same as ones popular with MRAs, I don't know"

I am not suggesting that what I wrote means everything is hunky dory by any means. First, reading that judgment I detect a lack of enthusiasm for the decision the judges have felt compelled to give. This does not read to me like a sweeping endorsement of the current orthodoxy. Second, I think that the implicit warning to HMPPS is an indication that they are expected to perform the assessments and data gathering that render the policy lawful impeccably, so that natal women do receive the protection to which they are entitled. Third, HMPPS will never manage to do that, so not only are individual challenges likely, they will (I hope) kill this awful policy off by showing that the reality is simple: women cannot be protected mentally or physically while this policy is in place so TW should be housed entirely separately.

teawamutu · 04/07/2021 12:02

Has the Times reported on this yet? They're usually really on it.

HighNetGirth · 04/07/2021 12:07

And of course, the fact that the policy has to be challenged this way rather than killed off or never implemented in the first place is disgraceful and deeply depressing.

Prisons Judicial Review: Judgement

Keep Prisons Single Sex are raising money for continuing the fight (not a specific legal action). It can be found by digging. They want to keep Fighting for sex-based rights of women in prison

RedDogsBeg · 04/07/2021 16:38

Interesting comments from Robert Jenrick, Housing Minister:

Speaking to Times Radio, Mr Jenrick said: I think there's a matter of biology, of course, what is a woman. I mean absolutely, I agree with Liz Truss. That's the point that she's made in the past.

Undoubtedly, of course we want to ensure that those people who are trans can live their life comfortably.

I want everyone to be able to live their life the way they want to and be happy and to find love wherever they can do.

One does have to be aware of the impact on other people and that means we have to be particularly sensitive in terms of some of those settings that we as a government are responsible for like schools, like hospitals, like prisons.

One has to tread carefully and think through all of the consequences of this for other members of society.

SirVixofVixHall · 04/07/2021 18:06

I have donated to the crowdfunder.

GrandmaMazur · 04/07/2021 18:10

I’ve written to my MP.

It hasn’t quelled the rage though.

dyslek · 04/07/2021 18:11

The shock has faded mostly, I just feel sort of numb. Have there been any protests does anyone know?
Health scare yesterday (I actually think this was a contributing factor) ment I have not been keeping up.

teawamutu · 04/07/2021 18:34

@SirVixofVixHall

I have donated to the crowdfunder.
As have I.

Sadly I think are being optimistic.Af far as I understand it the judges did not have to come down on the side of gender identity, due to the confused (and frankly nonesenseicle) nature of the laws they did have a choice. And I VERY much doubt the MoJ will start now behaving decently to women prisioners (and staff, dont forget the women officers who have to perform body searches on these lovely ladies). Prisons are massively underfunded and they can always hide behind that.
dyslek · 04/07/2021 18:37

Their practices so far show they realy dont give a shit, they are breaking international rules bus as long as there is no real come back I really doubt they will change.
