Transgender weightlifting

I like to think of myself as a feminist.
I’m there was in interesting feature on BBC radio 4s woman’s hour about transgender athletes and inclusion in the olympics.
The programme featured some new research and an interview with the researcher, that suggests that there are significant biochemical differences between trans women and women that may mean they have an unfair advantage.
Controversially the Olympic committee have recently permitted the inclusion of trans athletes in certain sports. The one that has made the newspapers is a trans female athlete from New Zealand that will be competing in the upcoming olympics.
My position is that I do not feel there is any reason to not be as inclusive as possible in any walks of life to trans women, however, in some competitive sports such as weightlifting, where it could convey an unfair advantage, it might not be appropriate. (These appeared to be similar thoughts to the radio 4 presenter by the way, based on the research that was published)
I wondered what others thoughts were on this.

'> should someone with a penis get changed next to teenaged girls?
*if that person with a penis doesn’t not recognise that penis OR is sexually aroused from seeing teenage girls changing. I don’t personally see the issue if this was, for example, a female changing room at a gym.
If you follow that line, (I feel) it’s ridiculous, as it’s like you are arguing that homosexuals should use separate facilities as they might eg ‘peak over the urinal and get a boner’'

Ah! The old 'lesbians are like men when it comes to dodgy sexual behaviour' idea.

Lesbians aren't men. That's kind of the whole point.

96% or 98% or whatever it is- pretty much all- people in prison for sex offences are male.

I find the fact that so many men seemingly are unable to comprehend that fancying women does not automatically mean sexual behaviours the same as men a little odd.

I have never thought that gay men have sexual behaviours the same as women. I can't imagine I'm alone on that.

NiceGerbil · 27/06/2021 23:36

'hole'

Ugh.

BadGherkin · 27/06/2021 23:37

Did you choose to use the word “hole” to be as offensive as possible?

NiceGerbil · 27/06/2021 23:38

Given the other posts I suspect it's just the natural word for the OP to use.

334bu · 27/06/2021 23:39

I think we can safely take that as a given.

timeisnotaline · 28/06/2021 00:14

Well. A long thread with a poster who recognises some inequality in sport, wants his godson to be safe, but has zero concerns for women’s safety. A pretty classic approach. Don’t have any daughters or goddaughters who you also want to be safe, recognising they are often inherently unsafe no matter what gender they identify as, because of the basic fact that they are female? And unable to comprehend female concerns if you don’t have a woman close to you who you love and can imagine unsafe, like your godson? Or you do and still don’t care?

No one has ever on this site argued transwomen should not be considered for any job unless it is a specifically female job, like running a crisis centre for abused women with the job description saying women only to apply.

The IOC do recognise Hubbard getting a place is unfair but they are busy protecting their vested interested. You can see they recognise it by their cowardly awarding of a discretionary place to the woman who missed out to hubbard. The discretionary places are for underrepresented countries so there is a marginalised woman from a country that struggles to qualify for the Olympics who should have had that chance and has missed out because the IOC secretly acknowledge that women are underrepresented in women’s weightlifting.

The poster who genuinely thinks 60kg women boxers should fight against 60kg male boxers…. No words. Fortunately most male boxers would say hell no, there is nothing fair about that and I don’t want to kill anyone.

Transparent.
DrSbaitso · 28/06/2021 08:28

I don't think OP intended to be offensive with his use of the word "hole", but it's yet another example of how completely out of touch he is with women's issues and requirements, and how utterly unfit he is to lecture us about it.

Of course, he could rectify that by coming here to listen rather than lecture...

somethinginoffensive · 28/06/2021 08:36

Video of save women's sports protest meeting anti-lockdown ravers. Just jump to pretty much any point in it to see the average raver agreeing that men shouldn't be in women's sports. Only a very small number objected.

It wasnt even willy and hole

Or sticky out thing and hole

It was penis and hole…proper name for the male and derogatory word for the female …I couldn’t even put derogatory name there!

It was offensive on purpose, I’ll put whatever money you want on it but I bet the OP wouldn’t use that word with any women he is allowed to get close to

But i agree apart from that 😊 and I usually try really hard to give the benefit of the doubt

Helleofabore · 28/06/2021 08:56

Yes. It becomes very very apparent when you look at this video the entire way through that there is very little support for male inclusion in women’s sport.

That they are lying about the degree of support needs to be acknowledged by activists.

WeeBisom · 28/06/2021 09:04

The guy in the spa video the other day said he wouldn’t mind women being naked in his changing area , so why should the women mind a naked man in their spa? It’s just struck me that men have absolutely no empathy for women’s safety concerns, and only care about the trans issue in so far as it affects things they find important. So men think fairness in sport is incredibly relevant but don’t care about safety because … why should they? Men have no empathy in that regard. They are at very low risk of sexual violence so why would they mind a naked woman in their vicinity? And it’s just clicked that this is why men seem to get so worked up about the sports issue and nothing else.

DrSbaitso · 28/06/2021 09:05

I think he was looking for a word to encompass vagina, anus and mouth, since rape covers non-consensual penile penetration of any of those. It was still a sign of how little he understands what women have to put up with, though.

You are very generous DrSbaitso. As an adult that is supposedly looking for mature discussion as they have stated, I think they could easily have listed vagina, anus and mouth.

The fact that they used the word 'hole' tells us a great deal about their values and their position. Although, we had already realised just how little they even consider women in their life, let alone in the outcomes that they argue support for.

It sums it up quite nicely.

I like to think of myself as a feminist followed by putting your penis in someone’s hole ......

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/06/2021 09:25

-for those of you who believe that all/the majority of trans people are committing violent hate crimes,

Goodness, did someone say that? I'd report it.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/06/2021 09:33

Yes, most people are “be kind” (although responses were clear that trans women should not be competing in women’s sport) until the question is redefined to specify that gender reassignment surgery has not been undertaken.

Or that legal gender/sex self ID without medical involvement/gatekeeping is brought in. It's not a popular idea with the public, something borne out in about 4 of these polls I can think of.

DrSbaitso · 28/06/2021 10:02

Of course it's not popular with the public, because it's clear and demonstrable nonsense, and dangerous nonsense too, and nobody actually really believes anyone can change sex. But everyone is terrified of being labelled a bigot and threatened with rape and death. Still, you have not converted a man or woman or non binary person because you have silenced them.

Not buying it

Any hole's a goal, right?

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 28/06/2021 23:08

Our rights are not yours to give away because other men want them.

This, 1000 times, TheRebelle.

But thanks Mr OP for coming here to mansplain why we should allow men to take whatever they want that’s ours. Apart from the gold medals, because sport is important and should not be sullied.
