because all females need to be aware of this

And there's no need to have an attack of the vapours because it's a Daily Mail link. For all their multitude of shortcomings, the Mail at least have the guts to publish articles that stand up for women and girls.

There were over 500,000 lives births in England & Wales in 2020. Any idea how many were born to transmen?

I dont know, but that really doesn't matter. The point is that they exist and their rights matter too. The wording of the 2019 policy includes them, and women, and adoptive parents alike.

LangClegsInSpace · 06/06/2021 20:15

Thanks for clarifying this so MOJ is the court system and not the police.

Yes. There's also the CPS who have not yet left, but who say are currently reviewing their membership.

@Pumperthepumper
I suspect there’s more to this and there’s a surprising lack of information around about Marion Miller. What’s the script?

Exactly
1 - I'm not commenting on a case that I think is currently active? As that could potentially be contempt of court or whatnot

2 - Context is key and that's easily lost on the internet.

KimMumsnet · 06/06/2021 20:21

Evening, all.
We're moving this thread across to the Feminism topic now.
Thanks.

Really disappointing decision Mumsnet. This needs a wide audience otherwise many women won't know what is happening,

Do you move every thread in AIBU to its appropriate topic? Or just the ones related to feminist issues?

Also it seems very, very unlikely that she was charged for something that isn’t a crime.

@KimMumsnet - why? It's been happily residing in AIBU all day. I chose to start it in a topic that has high traffic to bring it to the attention of women who don't frequent the FWR board. It's provoked an interesting discussion.

Why would anyone report it rather than just hide it?

I agree. There’s no rule that everyone has to read this thread just because it’s in aibu. People can scroll past.

Ijustreallywantacat · 06/06/2021 20:38

Thanks mumsnet!

Quaggars · 06/06/2021 20:39

@Jolie12345

Also this ridiculousness around pronouns. Referring to an individual as “they” doesn’t make sense... one person cannot be multiple people as suggested with words that are intended to define plurals. Just make a word up if you don’t like what existing words actually mean
I used to think this, think I've even posted on MN at some point in the past saying they confuses me as it's plural - but I've been thinking more about it, and is it really? I mean when we talk about someone and we don't know them personally, we use they. Eg if the Doctor's going to ring you, you don't know if it's going to be a male or female one so you say "they're going to ring in a bit." Same thing really
Theeyeballsinthesky · 06/06/2021 20:41

Why the bloody hell has this been moved??

Quaggars · 06/06/2021 20:43

Oh good, it's been moved.
Why are people bothered that it's been moved?
It's only like when Coronavirus for example starts seeping out onto the boards - not everyone wants it, they'd go over to the Coronavirus forum if they did.
That's why there's specialised boards so that people who are interested will go to them.
Not piss off people just trying to read AIBU or Chat or whatever.

RedthroatedCaracara · 06/06/2021 20:46

Did you ever say what her point was about Davina McCalls dress?

Still trying to derail Smile

Why are people thanking the lord and MN that this conversation has been moved Hmm What disturbs you about this debate? And don't scream "transphobia" because if this thread was transphobic it would have been deleted not moved.

I don't think this is a feminist issue, it's integral to the experience of being a mother. We should all be able to use normal language to describe our experience. I gave birth to my children. It was a sex specific experience.

Quaggars · 06/06/2021 20:46

Yes, and several people basically said oh FFS, and it clearly wasn't wanted there - they told you as much and clearly people thought Hmm enough to get it moved.
Some even said they hide this board for a reason.
So why be like "well, I'm going to show you it anyway?"
Not everyone wants to read all the boards, sometimes you just come to MN for light relief.

highame · 06/06/2021 20:47

I invoke Bunbury's, anyone fancy a cake.

I think it's around 850 Erikrie and non of them small. Whitehall are to give a statement next week I believe, so anyone saying they've never heard of this, are sure hearing it now

Quaggars · 06/06/2021 20:48

What disturbs you about this debate?

Disturbs me? Nothing
Just saying can see why it's been moved.

Still trying to get out of owning up to your sexist comment Wink
Theeyeballsinthesky · 06/06/2021 20:48

Are people in AIBU unaware of the hide thread button that this needs to be moved then?

And yes agree, if this thread was ‘transphobic’ MN would delete it

Jolie12345 · 06/06/2021 20:49

I suppose in that context I see your point but how about..

“Anyone seen Ben?”
“No, I haven’t heard from them in days.”

That’s plural. Or...

“Have you heard the news about Sally?”
“No, what have they been up to now?”

“What did they say?” - this one sounds like a split personality Hmm

AngeloMysterioso · 06/06/2021 20:49

I don’t want to read threads about covid, so I don’t go on the coronavirus board.

That doesn’t stop covid threads being posted on AIBU every single fucking day. Do you also jump up and down and insist they be relocated to their rightful place?

Jumping up and down? It literally takes 2 clicks.

No, but they do usually get moved though.
Just like this one has.
