Priti Patel Doing Her Job

Priti Patel, our Home Secretary, has been photographed attending the arrest of suspected people traffickers in London . Great you would think, the prosecution of organised crime, modern day slavery being rooted out and made an example of.

Yet ATM on SM there are masses of comments where Priti Patel is being described as a Nazi, Goebbels, evil bitch, ugly faced cow, Fascist, concentration camp guard, child murderer, and so on. She is even being criticised for her shoes, the type of footwear many South Asian heritage women wear. Also accused of masturbating (she has her hands in her pockets in the photo)

Most of these comments are from men. Why so much hate for a woman doing a tough job?

I know some people in RL who dislike her for specific reasons, but some dislike her just because she is Conservative.

I think she very much being targeted because she is a woman in this role.

We know the terrible price some trafficked people have paid. We know that it isn't just people from abroad who are exploited, even murdered, at the hands of greedy ruthless trafficking gangs. A message needs to be sent

I seriously disagree with Priti Patel and intensely dislike her politics. The comments on SM are totally wrong and are because she is female and non-white. Just like Theresa May used to get, and Diane Abbott does too.

She's fucking appalling at her job though, and a pretty awful person to boot. I've never voted Tory, but do remember the days where you least had to have a modicum of intellect/general competence to be Home Secretary of the UK: I mean - it's a biggie. Environment, Food and Rural Affairs it ain't.

Look at what she is doing to travellers, how racist she is.
I can't wish her bad enough tbh, and put a curse on her a couple of months ago, hope it works. Evil woman.

She seems pretty rational and reasonable to me. I'm not why there's so much hate. Probably a mixture of being a Tory and a woman.

I wouldn't use the words that get used because they are hateful words, but I think Patel's policies are vile.

I agree though that female politicians get a terrible time. The number of death threats Diane Abbott got was astounding.

I can't think of a reason on earth for her to be there, grandstanding like an idiot in that jacket. Bizarre self-aggrandisement as per.

I do feel for TM, who was attacked to a ridiculous degree for making the fundamental error of not being Thatcher.

I find it amazing that of all the politicians she is the one that has been targeted as the bully by all those lovely and delightful civil servants who have been in charge of the Home Office.

I'm sure she was a bully. But I am also sure that so are most of the male politicians.

Not that I believe in any of that silly old nonsense, but isn't the problem with cursing people that it can easily be returned 'back in your mouth'. You must know this? Superstition is not the way forward Dev, its a load of backwards tripe. We need to move with the times

Even bullying racist women still don't deserve to be abused misogynistically or in a racist way on social media. I disagree with pretty much everything she does and says, but I wouldn't post abusive messages about her looks, clothes etc, the kind of stuff that Flaxmeadow describes. Attack the policies, the beliefs, the behaviour, the track record....

The racist, misogynistic comments she gets are absolutely unacceptable.

Also, she's not smiling in the pics. Women must be pretty & smile at all times, it's a literal insult to men to take up space if you're not enhancing it.

In a police raid risk assessment, I'd expect safety shoes for observers, in case a fight broke out and she got stepped on, syringes in the property etc. Gold pumps suggest to me it's all been been sanitized, it's not a real experience for her, it's all about the photos.

Many South Asian women wear these type of shoes. Maybe that was part of the point she was making
