What do you say to women who accept TWAW?

The GC claim is that accepting TWAW has detrimental effects on the lives of women who aren't trans.

So, how do you explain to the millions of women who accept TWAW that their lives have been negatively affected by that acceptance, given that as far as they can see, nothing bad happened and their lives just carried on as normal?

Oh god it's you again. I don't say anything to women who believe TWAW, I don't need to, they'll realise what's going on soon enough as we all do.

I don’t believe that transwomen are women in any sense that means they are somehow of my sex

But my workplace forces us to say so - it’s Iiterally written into our terms and conditions that we are to use two words, not one, as anything else would ‘imply that trans women are not fully women’. (They forgot to mention transmen at all.)

So, if you talked to anyone at work, they would not be allowed to say what they thought. That’s pretty detrimental.

We handle medical data. Have you ever put any thought into getting correct, useful, medically relevant answers while pretending that the big differences between male and female bodies don’t matter, Shizuku?

I’m not engaging with you OP. You refuse to engage and attempt to see GC views. Your posts are a little like the trans activists that turn up at women’s meetings or Labour Party conferences and shout the women down and use aggression. There is no debate it’s your opinion or nothing.

I respond with this:

toffeebutterpopcorn · 21/04/2021 07:58

I usually just say ‘how’?

I say JUST WAIT.

When I was a young 20 something I thought women were equal. 2 kids, middle age and perimenopause later and do I still think that? Hell, no. And now I'm struggling to deal with the fact that a lot of institutions (hello NSPCC) that influence my childrens lives are failing to safeguard children.

I'd say: Just wait.

I don't know a single woman above a certain age who believes TWAW.

There's a reason. Experience.

Might be for harvesting screenshots too.

The GC claim is that accepting TWAW has detrimental effects on the lives of women who aren't trans.

Total straw man.
The GC claim is that accepting TWAW has detrimental effects on the lives of some women and girls.

For example the female prisoner who finds she’s sharing a prison with biological males, the female sportswoman who’s up against a biological male, the rape victim who asks for a female nurse and has a biological male sent to examine or counsel her, the schoolgirl who has to deal with period leaks in a unisex bathroom or finds on a school trip that she’s in a dorm with a biological male.

It has never ever been claimed that TWAW has a detrimental effect on all women and girls. Of course most women will live their lives without it ever affecting them. That doesn’t mean it’s not important.

ArabellaScott · 21/04/2021 09:54

I'm wondering if the OP is still with us.

Might be disappointed that the posts are coming from informed, articulate women as usual.

I avoid the topic these days tbh. Im so tired of it. I dont believe TWAW, but I actually think that the majority of people who identify as trans dont think it either.
Im actually getting fed up of both sides being painted as extremist caricatures. Loads of transpeople think the TRAs are nuts, and a lot of the TRAs arent even trans and have made it harder for the people they scream about protecting.
loads of people who identify as GC, actually arent particularly critical of the concept of gender, nor are they feminist, so im just fed up with taking sides.
Everyone are idiots

Childrenofthestones · 21/04/2021 10:24

"What do you say to women who accept TWAW?"

Ask them if they are aware that the majority of them still own a meat and two veg.

It's quite amazing how many will hold forth on the subject but not be aware of this.

“Hey you,” said the bad-tempered ladybird. “Want to fight?”

“If you insist,” said the wasp, showing its stinger.

“Oh, you’re not big enough,” said the bad-tempered ladybird and flew off.

A Patch of Black by Rachel Rooney. This is the author reading it.

Currently out of print, Sad so the only stockists seem to be bookshops using ebay as a selling platform, but there is nothing wrong with supporting secondhand booksellers

There is also My Body Is Me and The Problem With Problems by the same author. www.rachelrooneypoet.com/books
