Pregnant people?

Trustisamust · 11/04/2021 03:12

So our local NHS Trust have finally updated their guidance re allowing partners to attend pregnancy scans etc.
They now refer to pregnant people, not pregnant women.
I don't know if I am being unreasonable here but this does not sit comfortably with me?

@LockdownLard

Perhaps we could have the name of the organisation, ie NHS, Brook etc to apply for these top secret questions under FOI?
This would be useful. Then I can complete the questionnaire and doubtless confirm what I already know, which is that I don't have a gender identity. And then, o frabjous day, I can once again tell ASugarr to stop assuming that we're all 'cis' and she might listen.

They tell you that people are who they say they are, and to respect people's gender identities, but no-one ever respects mine.

Erkrie · 11/04/2021 19:28

You can be a man and be a transwomen. . You can be a woman and be a transman. It's not that hard to understand. Sex certainly is not gender. Thus don't conflate the two. 🤍

Fixed that for you. 🤍

SaturdayRocks · 11/04/2021 19:29

I'm clocking off now because I've spent way too much of my time explaining this.

No you’re ’clocking off’. What a silly thing to keep saying. You say you’re ‘clocking off’ (what does that mean?) each time the questions get too hard to answer. You haven’t ‘explained’ anything. Obviously - hence the need to continually ‘clock off’.

But you keep refreshing the page, and reappearing and posting again.

Stop saying you’re ‘clocking off’ when you have absolutely no intention of leaving the thread.

Erkrie · 11/04/2021 19:29

Another question ASugarr - where might we find a list of approved sexual health specialists who will diagnose our gender identity? You must know of some?

Yes I'd like to know this as well. I might want to identify as a frog and I need to know if that's valid.

Yes please ASugarr - we need to see these questions. Secret Squirrel we won't tell.
AssassinatedBeauty · 11/04/2021 19:31

The reason that people came up with words for adult female or male animals is to be able to quickly and correctly categorise them, to enable meaningful discussion.

When raising livestock it is quicker to say for example "make sure you separate the mares from the stallions" rather than having to say "separate the sexually mature female horses from the sexually mature male horses". It beggars belief that anyone could find this a complex and mysterious origin.

Adult human female is a woman. An immature human female is a girl. These are sex descriptors. Gender identity or gender expression are social constructs and are described by the words "masculine" or "feminine" as understood in the culture that you are referring to.

ASugarr · 11/04/2021 19:31

If you have more questions go to your local sexual health clinic and ask. Thank you 🤍

Whatwouldscullydo · 11/04/2021 19:32

I'm actually quite concerned this is part of a sexual health service. I imagine some of the people they see are extremely vulnerable and/or quite young?

Is 20 questions about their gender identity realky what these people need?

LockdownLard · 11/04/2021 19:33

Or if we are not allowed to see the questionnaire, presumably it is evidence based so can we be directed to the evidence it is formulated from?

SaturdayRocks · 11/04/2021 19:33

Oh, what happened to the ‘clocking off’?
PotholeHellhole · 11/04/2021 19:34

It wasn't a service I was ever offered at our local sexual health clinic but the last time I went there was for a IUD insertion and to be lectured at about smears.

Erkrie · 11/04/2021 19:34

But I might get someone like you who doesn't understand the difference between a man and woman. Maybe I should go to a vet instead. At least they have to rely on their biological knowledge.

SaturdayRocks · 11/04/2021 19:36

I think a vet is probably the most knowledgeable and reliable option.

Hallyup5 · 11/04/2021 19:37

Only women can get pregnant. Whatever gender they choose to use for themselves, they're still women. We need to stop pandering to the minuscule minority.

MeltsAway · 11/04/2021 19:37

Why is it women/girls can't be mentioned any more?

Because women's very existence inflicts literal violence on transwomen. Women's very existence is transphobic.

I'm sure others have said this, but it's you know what - transactivism "capturing" public institutions. Under the guise of 'inclusivity' women are erased.

NCfenceisoneofthe99problems · 11/04/2021 19:38

Why does anyone’s ‘gender identity’ matter to anyone else? And why on earth would it be a consideration for organisations, sports or spaces? The only way that I can understand it is likening it to a personality trait, in that it’s a spectrum, where are on that spectrum is unknowable to the outside world and can change, but it is part of what defines you and makes you, you.
In which case, why should it I have to give any consider to whether you are extrovert or trans; and why should the nhs, prisons, sports, organisations, the law etc etc

NCfenceisoneofthe99problems · 11/04/2021 19:40

To be clear, what I mean is, your gender identity is your business, don’t make it mine or anyone else’s. It’s completely irrelevant to anyone other than you

PotholeHellhole · 11/04/2021 19:40

Come tonthink of it, sexual health clinics seem to know tell who is male and who is female without difficulty, when it's about pain relief.

'Just take a couple of paracetamol before you get here', they said!

PotholeHellhole · 11/04/2021 19:48

That got posted too soon.

It was supposed to end with the line

So definitely go to the vet!

Erkrie · 11/04/2021 19:49

Aw A Sugar is back on twitter asking mnhq for conversations around transgender people on MN to be shut down. As it's not fair if they can't call us cisgender. And apparently transgender issues are nothing to do with feminism. So we shouldn't talk about it unless we are actually transgender ourselves. Another attempt to shut down conversation whilst safeguarding fails at every level.
I see you were posting here in good faith as ever A sugar.

littlbrowndog · 11/04/2021 19:50

@SirusTheVirus

After reading all 20 pages I can conclude that ASugarr is indeed batshit Grin
There is that 😂😂😂🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

[quote Deliriumoftheendless]And I won’t ask as I won’t get an answer, but I wonder aloud why anyone with a burning drive to disrupt and grab all attention for whatever validation they may get from it is supported on social media by the very people they exploit for attention.

It is often said here that various posters must be GC plants, but they’re not. Trans ideology is just a useful tool to suck up the attention they require.

C4tintherug · 11/04/2021 19:53

If you ever go to A and E with abdominal pains, the tests they will do will be completely different between men and women. If your pains are so bad that you are unable to talk, then they could possibly miss things like ovarian cyst, ectopic pregnancy- life threatening situations -all because they didn’t know your sex.

Whatwouldscullydo · 11/04/2021 19:55

Same as always isn't it. Can't define terms. Can't answer questions. So the answer is to complain and report and shut down instead. As of its out fault they can't actually answer the question.

For some thing apparently so simple , there's an awful lot of avoiding answering simple questions

Lisa: That's right.
Homer: And in February, it's hot?
Lisa: Mm-hm.
Homer: So it's opposite land! Crooks chase cops, cats have puppies!
Lisa: No, Dad, it's just the weather.
Homer: So hot snow falls up?“
