Pregnant people?

Trustisamust · 11/04/2021 03:12

So our local NHS Trust have finally updated their guidance re allowing partners to attend pregnancy scans etc.
They now refer to pregnant people, not pregnant women.
I don't know if I am being unreasonable here but this does not sit comfortably with me?

The first two images are form the NHS. I created a simple form as a third image for you all to understand 🤍

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 11/04/2021 17:01

Good spot @RedDogsBeg, yes, let me back up this thing I've said by posting a flowery picture with the thing I've said on it that I've cobbled together myself Grin

Mugginyouleftrightandcentre · 11/04/2021 17:01

Lol what questions? If you can give me any question I haven't yet answered then I'll consider answering it.

From this thread: what is the word used for an adult human female in the same vein as mare, ewe, hen, doe for other species of animal?

From the other thread that you were asked several times:

If 'woman' has no meaning, definition or specific characteristics, then what is it exactly that a transwoman is identifying with? How can you identify with someone that has no characteristics?

What is a woman?

NiceGerbil · 11/04/2021 17:01

What's a medical card, by the way?

ASugarr · 11/04/2021 17:01

That seems to be all questions covered. Have a good sunday all 🤍

StealthPolarBear · 11/04/2021 17:03

Ha as if. Nice try.

Whatwouldscullydo · 11/04/2021 17:03

I'm.asking you.

Unconscious patient joggers t shirt no id. You immediately take bloods and you have the results. What results do yku look at. Paramedic who brought them in is too busy now doing cpr on another patient. Can't talk.

334bu · 11/04/2021 17:03

No wait I still don't know what animal I am?

NiceGerbil · 11/04/2021 17:04

My practice only gives access to appt booking and repeat prescriptions.

And I hope random people can't get into my phone or NHS account on my phone that easily! The NHS app on particular should be really secure, if people are told it's not, that's a pretty big deal.

EdgeOfACoin · 11/04/2021 17:05

If 'woman' has no meaning, definition or specific characteristics, then what is it exactly that a transwoman is identifying with?

And, following on from that, if you can't tell me anything I have in common with a transwoman, why should I be expected to share a communal changing room with a transwoman?

Why can't hospital wards etc be segregated by sex?

I asked these questions a few pages ago.

Okay these are the final question I'll answer.

Yeah those are gender terms we created for animals. Their sex is male and female. Their gender is then the terms we (for some reason) came up for them.
They are identifying with being who they are. They don't have to be sterotypcially feminine, present female or have any surgery.
Again. It isn't a choice. Its them being who they are and what is most comfortable to them.
Woman is a gender term that typically uses she/her pronouns and usually identifies closely to the female sex or is of the female sex. But there are no rules on what a woman or man are.
Bye 🤍

I'd call a paramedic.
Whatwouldscullydo · 11/04/2021 17:06

So drs in hospitals call on paramedics?

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 11/04/2021 17:06

Why won't the men like it @ASugarr? Why was it decided to start changing stuff with women first? Who decided that, and what was their reasoning?

I suspect it's going to boil down to some bollocks about women will be accepting and kind Confused

StealthPolarBear · 11/04/2021 17:07

Bye. From this woman. Human adult female.

ASugarr · 11/04/2021 17:07

@Whatwouldscullydo

So drs in hospitals call on paramedics?
Well I wouldn't be in a hospital and for some reason she is specifically asking me so. I'd call for a paramedic.
Whatwouldscullydo · 11/04/2021 17:09

I'm.asking if you were a dr and interpreting bloods of the unidentified unconscious patient what result chart would you read amd why

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 11/04/2021 17:10

@EdgeOfACoin

I still don't know what my gender is. I still don't know how I can work it out.

I still don't know what questions ASugarr would ask a person to help them figure out their gender identity.

My hypothesis is that ASugarr can't give anyone any guidance on gender identity without reference to gender stereotypes, despite denying that gender identity is dependent on stereotypes.

However, I'm happy to be proved wrong.

Over to you, ASugarr.

Me too ASugarr. I've looked at the definition you posted but can't work out what gender I am. I don't have a 'deep down sense' of being 'a woman' . I have a deep down sense of being me and I don't 'identify' with Barbie or GI Joe ( as Mermaids would have it). I AM a woman because I have a female body. If I had a male body I'd maybe feel the same but know I was a man. Who knows?

So maybe I'm Non Binary - isn't that all of us? I mean I always resented the restrictive stereotypes that limited my mother's opportunities and was certain I would fight them all my life.

So over to you ASugarr - looking forward to your reply.

TedsFederationRep · 11/04/2021 17:11

When Penny Mordaunt tried to introduce the expression "pregnant person" into UK law, it was seen off by the House of Lords who insisted that "mother" was the correct term, in fact as well as in law. The House of Commons acceded to the amendment and it received Royal Assent.

The dictionary definition of "mother" is "female parent".

No ambiguity there, and it is enshrined in law. That's good enough for me.

NiceGerbil · 11/04/2021 17:12

Anyone know what a medical card is?

Or why someone thinks it's a thing to just go into someone's phone and see their whole NHS record?

None of this bears any relation to real life

(At least that's consistency on that approach).

ASugarr · 11/04/2021 17:12

@Whatwouldscullydo

I'm.asking if you were a dr and interpreting bloods of the unidentified unconscious patient what result chart would you read amd why
But I'm not a doctor so don't ask me. Go ask a doctor 😂
Erkrie · 11/04/2021 17:14

By not assuming their sex or gender. If I can find indicators like their medical card or medical report on their phone that helps

Oh. My. God. That's feckin hilarious. How you going to access their phone to tell you that then? And whilst you're faffing about the patient dies. Thank goodness you're not a health professional. We'd all be doomed 😂

Whatwouldscullydo · 11/04/2021 17:15

Your the one saying that there's no way of determining who's a man or a woman. So you must have some way if determining of who's who. Why not enlighten enlighten drs I.kean what if they mess up. What if that guy in a pink.bikini I saw at the airport was just on a stag do?

Erkrie · 11/04/2021 17:15

But I'm not a doctor so don't ask me. Go ask a doctor

Well a doctor won't be taking your approach that's for sure.

StealthPolarBear · 11/04/2021 17:16

Maybe they'd use subtle visual cues
