Pregnant people?

999 replies

Trustisamust · 11/04/2021 03:12

So our local NHS Trust have finally updated their guidance re allowing partners to attend pregnancy scans etc.
They now refer to pregnant people, not pregnant women.
I don't know if I am being unreasonable here but this does not sit comfortably with me?

Hmm, I wonder what those clues would be 🤔

StealthPolarBear · 11/04/2021 17:18

Some people have it stitched in the hem of their blouse. In a slightly offset colour from the blouse.

ASugarr · 11/04/2021 17:19

@Erkrie

By not assuming their sex or gender. If I can find indicators like their medical card or medical report on their phone that helps

Oh. My. God. That's feckin hilarious. How you going to access their phone to tell you that then? And whilst you're faffing about the patient dies. Thank goodness you're not a health professional. We'd all be doomed 😂

You know you don't need to get into someone's phone to have their medical card come up if they have one? We recommend all young people do this. It usually pops up by holding the stand by button or the emergency button if you've filled it in. If not then we don't assume. We wait for a paramedic. I am technically a health professional thanks 🤍
Deliriumoftheendless · 11/04/2021 17:19

“Siri! SIRI! What gender is this patient?”

(Googles “how to fix ur health probs”)

Deliriumoftheendless · 11/04/2021 17:20

“Technically” 🤣

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 11/04/2021 17:20

@EdgeOfACoin

If 'woman' has no meaning, definition or specific characteristics, then what is it exactly that a transwoman is identifying with?

And, following on from that, if you can't tell me anything I have in common with a transwoman, why should I be expected to share a communal changing room with a transwoman?

Why can't hospital wards etc be segregated by sex?

I asked these questions a few pages ago.

Good question. If there are 'no rules on what a woman or man is' then how do you know who is a man and who is a woman? Maybe I can surprise my husband by telling him I'm actually a man and he's now, unexpectedly, gay?
StealthPolarBear · 11/04/2021 17:21

What do you mean by medical card? A digital health record is currently being developed, it will be rolled out to babies first.
Do you mean European health insurance?

Erkrie · 11/04/2021 17:22

Some people have it stitched in the hem of their blouse. In a slightly offset colour from the blouse.

That's a good idea. I'll get my sewing machine out. I'll have to check what colour options are available to describe my inner identity.

Deliriumoftheendless · 11/04/2021 17:23

Please tell me it’s a Star Trek Tricorder.

RabbitOfCaerbannog · 11/04/2021 17:23

My hypothesis is that ASugarr can't give anyone any guidance on gender identity without reference to gender stereotypes, despite denying that gender identity is dependent on stereotypes.

I don't think this is a bad hypothesis in the absence of any explanation.

I seem to recall a thread in which a proponent of gender ideology effectively explained (after failing to explain effectively for some time) that they had always felt submissive, weaker, wanted to be treated like the girls were when they were younger etc

Whatwouldscullydo · 11/04/2021 17:23

Some people would he useless in the supermarket.

"Go tell that woman in the green coat we don't have any Water melons left"

< scratches head >

"Which ones the woman"

What do they do when they lose their kids in a supermarket?

" Yeah those are gender terms we created for animals. Their sex is male and female. Their gender is then the terms we (for some reason) came up for them.
They are identifying with being who they are. They don't have to be sterotypcially feminine, present female or have any surgery.
Again. It isn't a choice. Its them being who they are and what is most comfortable to them."

You're not seriously suggesting that animals have a Gender, are you?!

Erkrie · 11/04/2021 17:26

If not then we don't assume. We wait for a paramedic.

How will the paramedics know 😱

I am technically a health professional thanks 🤍

Are you changing the meaning of the word technically now 🤣 Soon we'll have no words left to describe anything accurately. We're barely holding it together to converse with you.

StealthPolarBear · 11/04/2021 17:26

See below - hamster

StealthPolarBear · 11/04/2021 17:28

Paramedics have special training and are highly skilled in identifying both the sex and the gender identity of the people they treat. They need another set of professionals with the health knowledge though - it takes five years to get through the sex and gender recognition qualifications.

AdaFuckingShelby · 11/04/2021 17:30

@ReallyShowsYourAge

Why should women give up the word we use to define ourselves? It all seems very one sided. We must change our way of talking about ourselves no matter what our personal preference but trans people must always have their preferred term used. Why is that?
Exactly. Why is that?

But I'm a floppy sea spider (assigned at birth) who identifies as a screaming hairy armadillo. Where's my colours 😡 This is so not inclusive.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 11/04/2021 17:33

None of this will stop until women are completely stripped of being able to talk about anything that makes them women.
As has been mentioned, the same doesn't seem to be happening to men.
Everything that makes women women is being taken away.
"Chest feeding"
"Pregnant people"
Not being able to say 'give birth'

I was born with a uterus and all that goes with it. Therefore I am a woman and I am not going to refer to myself differently. It's ridiculous, it really is.

Erkrie · 11/04/2021 17:34

I expect paramedics can see gendered souls. It's obvious, if you just open your mind.

RedDogsBeg · 11/04/2021 17:38

@ASugarr

The first two images are form the NHS. I created a simple form as a third image for you all to understand 🤍
So not official NHS Policy or Guidance, as pointed out by another poster in this thread, just something you made up. How much lower are you going to go?
AdaFuckingShelby · 11/04/2021 17:41

@ASugarr

I'll leave my opinions as a sexual health professional there for today as I'm not here to try to anger or upset anyone. Just voice my opinions as a woman and as a sexual health worker on why these changes are important and do not erase anyone. We do the same to language around typically men's issues (like prostate cancer and all) but we use gender nutural language there to so we can support women who struggle with those issues. Trans men are men. Trans women are women. Being a man or a woman comes with no rules on what your sex must be and, most importantly, these changes don't change anything for cis people.
I find this odd and disturbing. Trans women are trans women. Trans men are trans men. All equally deserving of respect as people. But calling a male born person a woman is factually incorrect. And confusing.
Ereshkigalangcleg · 11/04/2021 17:41

But I'm not a doctor

Yes, that's abundantly clear.

ASugarr · 11/04/2021 17:41

Yes the first two images are official NHS policy and guidelines.
