This person must have some mad skills to get so many interesting roles and have such a lot of influence. Or something.

highame · 24/03/2021 08:29

It's like Che Guevara gatecrashing the WI, and shitting on the scones for being bourgeois, while knowing fine well that elsewhere Batista is merrily setting up the firing squads. Now this is funny and clever Arabella Grin

AdHominemNonSequitur · 24/03/2021 08:31

Tech savvy grooming rings with hacking ability might have compromising information on people they can use to their advantage. Hence untouchable. Reddit must be a very useful platform for accessing and influencing the 'public' and as such would be a resource/ cyber territory they would work hard to protect.

AlfonsoTheTerrible · 24/03/2021 08:31

Interesting but not unexpected.

risefromyourgrave · 24/03/2021 08:31

Glinner has just sent out an email saying that The Mess We’re In (his YouTube show with Helen Staniland and Arty Morty) is going to be all about Aimee today. It’s live on YouTube at 4pm. Should be interesting.

Floisme · 24/03/2021 08:31

I still can't work out how a seasoned business like Reddit could make such a rookie move. Or maybe I can.

AlfonsoTheTerrible · 24/03/2021 08:32

Will try to watch if I'm out of my 3pm meeting.

That's alarming.

Glinner has written an article - apparently quite a few subReddits have gone private in protest at Reddit's apparent endorsement of this person. Several major subs (?) with over a million subscribers and 500k etc are objecting.

L2T is joining many subreddits in condemning child abuse and censorship. Reddit has hired a known enabler of a convicted child rapist and torturer. Mentions of their name are being removed and posters banned. We are private in protest of reddit's conduct. We demand actionable statements from the admins.

It is concerning that reddit sees fit to place this person who has some major issues with safeguarding into a position that gives them such a level of power and access to vulnerable people.

I feel really disturbed by this. On the one hand AC is clearly very traumatised and troubled, but on the other hand (and what is disturbing me the most) are the predatory practises of the people close to someone who has been trying their hardest to get into power. AC was able to get quite a lot of power quite quickly. Green party members who had concerns were silenced. It's like AC has a teflon shield and all the glaring safeguarding concerns are ignored. AC is able to access vulnerable people on Reddit and has power to silence anyone voicing concerns. It's really disturbing.

gardenbird48 · 24/03/2021 09:40

sorry, cross post Cwenthryth :¬)

I've got no idea how reddit works but it does sound serious.

FailingMotherhood · 24/03/2021 09:41

It really is the Streisand Effect. I knew about AC and her father, but until yesterday I hadn't heard about her husband's... "interests".

Cam77 · 24/03/2021 09:45

Many people were cheering when Trump got kicked off Twitter, for an inane rant no worse than a 100 he’d done before. I thought it had fairly sinister overtones though. As much as I hate Trump, he was the fairly elected leader of the biggest (power wise) democracy on Earth. And yet a couple of rich fandoms nobody has voted for effectively are able to silence him from one of the biggest social networks/discussion pages on the planet.

Banning is all fun and games until it’s your turn next.

Cam77 · 24/03/2021 09:45

*randoms, not fandoms

Yea. Even if not meeting a threshold to being illegal it screams red-flag. Even AC's ABDL stuff seems pretty red-flag, but instead it feels like even saying that that is a problem is somehow kink-shaming in weird Reddit land.

Has safeguarding not caught up to consider these issues?

Part of the back of my mind is saying that even saying that talking about these things as issues means that I must be some kind of right-wing bigot.

If I understand your point correctly, I think it is important to remember that the objections are not to AC having gainful employment or enjoying freedom of speech (same as the rest of us), but it is a major concern that AC has yet another job that wields considerable power and influence over narrative and information.

It is interesting that at such a young age, AC has held so many positions of quite significant influence. When they were guiding policy in the Green Party, they must have been only just over 20! It is also interesting that, given the debacle with the GP - they have deleted much of their fawning support, that AC continues to gain support and influence.

AC also has been given access to vulnerable people and as pp's horrifying story above attests, this access to people and information can be misused in a terrible way. AC is not a suitable or safe person to be doing the job they are paid to do.

Socrates11 · 24/03/2021 09:57

Wasn't just AC who didn't understand safeguarding according to the Veritas report, senior Green members did not act properly on the information they were given. A serious safeguarding failure the Greens have ever shown a sign of recognising or responding to.

Never!

I think we have to take a lot of care not to speculate - and we cannot know this. What is on the public record however - is a Sun article about David Challenor’s crimes, and the article states that DC raped and tortured a 10 year old girl whilst he himself was dressed as a baby called Lucy. This is the man that partially raised AC. That is not speculation. One can only imagine the trauma that could be done to a child being raised with exposure to this mindset.

Sooo, I hadn't heard about the ABDL stuff and didn't actually know what it was, so I googled it...

PopperUppleton · 24/03/2021 10:06

I don't know what it is - and if aren't google, knowing what I already know Confused

PopperUppleton · 24/03/2021 10:07

Aargh I daren't not if aren't!
