...but trying to ban something just drew attention to it. I am shocked at how quickly the banning triggered the spread.

ANewCreation · 24/03/2021 01:30

So many safeguarding red flags to do with this individual and this is just the stuff we know about.

Surprised the hiring team at reddit have such poor googling skills to not know about previous issues.

Unless...

I cannot wait for Reddit to go public. These people that they've been hiding will have to come out into the sunlight.

@LemonSwan

Reddit has been sinister for a long time. I had an incident a while back where I was discussing womens rights and had serious issues as a result. Perma-banned, facebook hacked, email hacked, banking attacked, you name it - even my phone was hacked and loaded with altered fbook pictures of my friends covered in meme blood with threats written on it. It was likely an admin as it happened simultaneously with the permaban.

I had to scrap every phone, every machine, change internet provider and have my house rewired to the box, and obviously start all over again on the net. Police reports. The works.

It was pretty serious and now I am very careful where I discuss women's rights or those who might oppose it.

Shock
WarriorN · 24/03/2021 05:59

Wow. This is very concerning

DickKerrLadies · 24/03/2021 06:04

Well, the six of us who are here with our million sock accounts (or whatever the accusation is this week) certainly have been busy haven't we!

So now Redditors know. Interesting.

WarriorN · 24/03/2021 06:21

So, Reddit mod/ admin is censoring anyone sharing a journalist for daring to mention the serious safeguarding issues wrt involvement of family member in the Green Party and then the later conviction for csa.

If this thread goes poof, mnhq need to seriously think about their take on this.

PotholeHellhole · 24/03/2021 06:27

I'm predicting that reddit will ride this out using the Dominic Cummings/Boris Johnson method of just waiting for the anger to dissipate.

Realistically, I don't think those users will go anywhere.

What does interest me is if this will have a knock-on effect on the Libdems at all, as AC joined them after leaving the Greens.

WarriorN · 24/03/2021 06:29

It's an ongoing weird situation

They're really not happy.

Also; comedynecrophila???

PotholeHellhole · 24/03/2021 06:38

It's really weird seeing their rage when we've known about all this for a while and we know that there were no ramifications to anyone else's career afterwards. A couple of senior people in the Green party deleted all their retweets of AC and that was about it.

Sort of affirming to see the reddit outrage really.

GingerBeverage · 24/03/2021 06:41

So they're acting like a publisher and not a platform...?

WarriorN · 24/03/2021 06:53

Can't wait for Julie's next article Grin

WarriorN · 24/03/2021 06:54

Sort of affirming to see the reddit outrage really.

It's never affected them has it.

They're not women who care and are being silenced or cancelled or censored.

Maybe now they'll listen.

Im sorry that happened to you.

I really cannot stress hard enough that when using a forum such as reddit or even MN that users have completely siloed email accounts/usernames/unique passwords.
Do not trust that everyone in the background of these sites has your best interests.

Sophoclesthefox · 24/03/2021 07:22

Full bore Streisand effect. Well played, Reddit.

Clymene · 24/03/2021 07:27

Bloody hell. I'd like to say I'm surprised but I stop being surprised a while ago. Reddit is a cesspool

WarriorN · 24/03/2021 07:27

I missed that Lemon, that's absolutely awful. I'm so sorry.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 24/03/2021 07:34

I don’t think that I know anyone who would do such a clean up job for little old me. We are surely talking politician and royal family level of shushing here.

Makes you wonder about their friends and allies (and if they know where the bodies are buried)?

PotholeHellhole · 24/03/2021 08:00

Never understood why the Libdems welcomed AC with open arms.

I can easily see how the situation with the Greens happened. Tragically one can not, and will not, morph into an adult with full comprehension of safeguarding and how to recognise abusive or toxic family dynamics on becoming legally an adult. If one hangs around the stately homes threads, one observes that working through past experiences and acknowledging what an outsider would have called such events takes years.

I note now that AC is still only 24.

But why did a second party accept a new member who joined under such a cloud?

toffeebutterpopcorn · 24/03/2021 08:03

High profile poster person for the votes they are chasing.

StocksAndScares · 24/03/2021 08:03

Didn't the Veritas report commissioned by The Greens find that Aimee just didn't understand safeguarding?

Isn't it a tad odd that Aimee is now in a role that involves safeguarding?

Confused
MigsandTiggs · 24/03/2021 08:08

Everythings on twitter now.

Reddit doesn’t understand safeguarding, clearly.
