whilst he himself was dressed as a baby called Lucy

To me it now seems like a red flag that someone who has access to vulnerable people is also into ABDL after that upbringing. But is that just my bigotry speaking?

MaudTheInvincible · 24/03/2021 10:07

It's eye-opening, that's for sure Failing

Envy< not envy

Sophoclesthefox · 24/03/2021 10:11

Everything I want to say would get me a strike. Which makes me really sad, considering I’m on a parenting site. But I’m thinking of what LangCleg would say to this.

Mumofgirlswholiketoplaywithmud · 24/03/2021 10:15

I feel like we have been groomed (not by MN but by society) into not being able to say what feels "wrong", as we've been told that our parenting instincts (about so many issues) are just "right-wing hysteria".

Mumofgirlswholiketoplaywithmud · 24/03/2021 10:18

"Don't kink shame"
"Sex work positive"
"You sound just like the US religious right"
and one I recently saw from contrapoints:
""Voicing concerns" is just another way of being bigoted""

Cwenthryth · 24/03/2021 10:21

There’s a faintly amusing side-narrative on Twitter about how (paraphrasing) ‘T**FS are using the Challenor revelations as an excuse for transphobia, bet they’d never even heard of AC until yesterday’. Oh, sweet summer children. GC women were concerned about & for this individual years ago. None of this is news to us!

This is about how noone should be above scrutiny or safeguarding concerns.

Remember the principle of Chesterton's Fence ... if buying a piece of land, and there's a seemingly random fence within it, don't rip it out before you work out what it's for... ie, applied to this, don't ignore your red flags and gut feelings when something seems wrong or off.

flyingfoxkins · 24/03/2021 11:50

@happydappy2

Think I read somewhere that the Challenors developed terf blocker for Twitter....and I am very concerned about their input to the advice to Girl Guides... join up the dots & it doesn’t look good
The Terf blocker was definitely a thing and caused much discussion at the time.

I'm quite active on Reddit for sports and gaming subs. The GC subs are all long gone. I wander in to some of the LGBT subs occasionally but find it tiresome and soul destroying at times.

Then this gem popped up today, hidden away in a sub specifically for gay men. I won't name it as I don't want it silenced. Sunlight people!

When you have rubber man at the nspcc and AC embedded into stonewall advisory boards, the green party and the Lib dems so easily, is there anywhere that is speaking up for being concerned about "kinks" (I'm thinking ABDL stuff) around children? / Safeguarding implications?

I am now remembering Posie Parker's triggernometry interview and her answer to "the one thing that we aren't talking about but that we should be talking about as a society".

picklemewalnuts · 24/03/2021 13:13

It's interesting. I'd have concerns about certain fetishes and what they may tell us about an individual.

My bigger concern by far, is when those fetishes become known. I may worry about a scout leader with a fetish. I absolutely would worry about a scout leader who advertises their interest in a fetish.

That attention seeking behaviour of wanting validation for that fetish, to recruit someone to that fetish, to be 'open' about that fetish- that is the biggest red flag of all, for me.

ABDL in your private life? Well ok. Publicly open about ABDL? No position of authority or influence, none with any safeguarding implications, would be appropriate.

not forgetting the police officers posing with a 'furry' on a lead... Hmm

@AdHominemNonSequitur

Tech savvy grooming rings with hacking ability might have compromising information on people they can use to their advantage. Hence untouchable. Reddit must be a very useful platform for accessing and influencing the 'public' and as such would be a resource/ cyber territory they would work hard to protect.
Ding ding ding.
theuglyswan · 24/03/2021 14:27

It's interesting to now have proof that reddit admin's are not acting in the user's best interests. Which, I mean, we already knew that when all the subs like gendercritical were banned last year. But it bothers me to think that these unhinged admins potentially have access to private information.

Livinginthecity · 24/03/2021 14:38

It's being discussed over at Quilette which has very light touch censorship. Supposedly a right wing forum but more like sensible. People who've had enough of this.

Siablue · 24/03/2021 15:11

This is being covered by the mainstream press now so hopefully more sunlight. This article in the metro is very good and makes it clear how serious the situation is.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 24/03/2021 15:13

Blimey if metro are covering it (and in a good way) then it must be bad...

Wow. Doesn't pussy foot around the key facts.

NotTerfNorCis · 24/03/2021 15:29

What I don't get is how Challenor became so influential. This is a young person with a not-brilliant academic record and known mental health issues who has already been involved in situations that would have destroyed most people's careers.

Tanith · 24/03/2021 15:41

AC is a handy cover. This is all too comprehensive for one not very bright 20-something to have achieved by themselves.

Now that light is being shone in certain murky areas, AC makes a nice, dispensable scrap to drop as a distraction.

MaudTheInvincible · 24/03/2021 15:45

That Metro article doesn't actually mention Aimee's gender identity. Just uses cross-sexed pronouns throughout.
