The useful Bunbury Guide to Spotting Community Disruptors is constantly evolving.

The best research and advice is not to engage with community disruptors and trolls. As ever, if you suspect troll activity, report it to MNHQ.

This is a continuation of the Public Service Announcement thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a4164702-Bunbury-s-Eighth-Sealion-training-for-beginners?msgid=105201850#105201850

If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging. AS is your friend.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted.. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we always have community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

This thread will be taking a leisurely stroll through the foothills of community disruption, noting the behaviour of wildlife and interesting flora and fauna en route.

I am toasting all who've politely made their points in spite of the provocations and retreated to our hilltop refuge. Also sending the hipflask around again. (Yes, I know it's morning but some of you may be in other timezones.)

Winesalot · 04/03/2021 08:46

I just started on page 2 of that thread. Did that OP may any valid points?

Winesalot · 04/03/2021 08:48

Oh don’t worry. I am reading about it on twitter. The new source of mumsnet threads.

NotTerfNorCis · 04/03/2021 08:48

Hm. On the last thread to go pop, MNHQ said 'As the OP has demonstrated that they're not posting in good faith we're going to close the thread now. We'll leave it up - but it'll be closed to posts.' But the thread is now gone. Shame really, some people had made good arguments.

EdgeOfACoin · 04/03/2021 08:48

The Twitterers will bring new lurkers with them.

Worth engaging a bit for them. Tiresome to make the same points and ask the same questions which are never answered.

MoltenLasagne · 04/03/2021 08:55

I just started reading the one that thinks you can dispel facts by sticking your fingers in your ears and saying "La la la, I can't hear you, you're all being mean" whilst not actually providing any stats otherwise.

Possibly a visitor from the MOJ going by their complete lack of stats at the JR yesterday...

Sophoclesthefox · 04/03/2021 08:56

@NotTerfNorCis

Interesting, has it really gone for you, it’s still there for me?

I am on board with the option of closing and leaving up, so that it can’t be misrepresented elsewhere, particularly when the whole purpose of the thread was to be misrepresented elsewhere Grin well played, Michelmumsnet.

NotTerfNorCis · 04/03/2021 08:57

The thread is back again now. They must have had to take it down temporarily to bring it back up as 'not accepting messages'.

I think that's the best move. Otherwise it's been a big waste of everyone's time and effort.

AffronttoGender · 04/03/2021 08:57

Yes, I was just thinking very well played Mumsnet. 🎉🎉

Siablue · 04/03/2021 08:57

Goodness me there are a lot of squirrels. It is interesting how none of them are posting on the prison thread.

Could mumsnet not make a rule that you have to have been on the site and posted a few times before you can post on FWR. I think they do this with the sex topic. It might deter some of the battier visitors. I can see that they might not want to do that though.

I am afraid I don’t like malt loaf but Cadbury’s dark milk with almonds sounds lush. How have I missed that one.

BaronessWrongCrowd · 04/03/2021 09:04

I came to the conclusion last night after a rather overly sensitive poster who saw transphobia in everything accused me and several others of all sorts and after asking HQ why their personal attacks would not be deleted)That these threads are extremely helpful In shedding sunlight everywhere.

Allowing them to stand just shows what MNHQ has to put up with. The TRA's had no actual arguments beyond 'feelings' and cod science.
They were accusing regular posters of transphobia where there was none.

Anyway, I can't be arsed to engage with them today. Going to bake a cake instead Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 04/03/2021 09:19

Is it like the green&blacks almond one? That's good too. The Aldi own brand, moser Roth does excellent nutty chocolate too.
Cadbury's Whole nut however... last time I had one, it failed to live up to the classic advert of 'a hazelnut in every bite'. Poor show.

Biscuitsanddoombar · 04/03/2021 09:20

I hope MNHQ got new cake in for today

Twitter must be really rattled at the JR....

StandWithYou · 04/03/2021 09:22

I’ve been hiding the threads which is a bit tiresome however following a suggestion upthread doing some gardening is much more productive.

CannotOperateOnThisFailure · 04/03/2021 09:29

I'm waiting for Nick Hewer to come along and roll his eyes. Or Margaret - I wonder what she'd make of all of the bollocks.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 04/03/2021 09:30

My tea might get cold before I untuck my hands.

I do like Cadbury's Whole Nut and Fruit and Nut but they are definitely not as nice as they used to be.

risefromyourgrave · 04/03/2021 09:34

I’m making my first trip here as I failed to not bite at the latest thread and now I am ashamed.
What is this Dark Dairy Milk with almonds I hear of, I love almonds in chocolate but don’t like raisins so steer clear of Fruit and Nut.

ArabellaScott · 04/03/2021 09:40

I am happy to engage with polite well -meaning posters who bring new information or perspectives to the debates. And I value immensely the contributions of women with specialist knowledge or direct experience of these things - expert legal, medical or scientific knowledge. It's quite phenomenal the range and depth of knowledge and expertise that there is gathered on the MN boards!

What makes it hard is if people are arguing in bad faith (hard to tell, sometimes).

TinselAngel · 04/03/2021 09:43

I think I'm going to stay away for a bit. If I wanted to be bullied for wrong think I'd still be married.

MeltsAway · 04/03/2021 09:46

N/C and still enjoying vicarious fell-walking and malt loaf, but you rotten vipers! I try to keep off empty carbs (and butter) during the week. You made me do it.

BaronessWrongCrowd · 04/03/2021 09:49

Saying that I just had a deletion for warning people that an OP who had had a thread that had been suspended for not posting in good faith and that I didn't believe they were posting in good faith in the new thread they started.

The deletions make no sense at all and apparently the truth gets your comment deleted.

Winesalot · 04/03/2021 09:50

yess... I asked the intention of the poster and was deleted as well.

JosephineBaker · 04/03/2021 09:51

When the arguments are not only specious but also look like they’ve been written by someone who failed Y6 SPaG, it’s frustrating and annoying too.

I shall cycle to the shops and buy more daffodils. A much more productive use of my time. I should’ve remembered not to engage.

Gcnq · 04/03/2021 09:52

Just why... On... Earth.... Would anyone allow a Tweet inviting a load of TRAs to come and chat on Mumsnet Feminist chat board? Just... Why? Who let that go up?
