The useful Bunbury Guide to Spotting Community Disruptors is constantly evolving.

The best research and advice is not to engage with community disruptors and trolls. As ever, if you suspect troll activity, report it to MNHQ.

This is a continuation of the Public Service Announcement thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a4164702-Bunbury-s-Eighth-Sealion-training-for-beginners?msgid=105201850#105201850

If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging. AS is your friend.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted.. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we always have community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

This thread will be taking a leisurely stroll through the foothills of community disruption, noting the behaviour of wildlife and interesting flora and fauna en route.

arabella pastéis de nata is the food of the gods!!!!

ArabellaScott · 13/03/2021 17:28

Thanks, Errol! That sounds suspiciously straightforward ...

I may try it tonight and inflict it on the family again. They were nearly crying the last time tho, I might have to rename it. Creme anglaise here we go!

I totally agree, Biscuits! But imagine making the fucking pastry, in addition!!!

My best friend is Portuguese and her mum showed me how to do it but yep it’s a tricky one. Worth it though Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 13/03/2021 17:38

The custard was easy and nice enough that it took me quite a while to realise that I had a yogurt maker languishing in the cupboard, we had UHT and skimmed milk powder, so all I needed was some dry yogurt culture. Grin

@Biscuitsanddoombar

arabella pastéis de nata is the food of the gods!!!!
I'd never heard of them, but having just read the wiki page it seems they do have holy origins!Grin

ArabellaScott · 13/03/2021 17:45

the original recipe of the pastel de nata is kept in a secret room. The recipe remains unchanged to this day and is known by only a few

omg, Biscuits, is your pal's mum part of the underground custard network?!

Isee them gleaming on the horizon. Like distant ... well, not peaks. Wobbly crags?

Congealed crags.

I almost want to name change now Grin

MaudTheInvincible · 13/03/2021 18:31

Congealed crags

Love it Grin

@Beamur

All custard is good in my view. Ditto milk puddings generally. Hot or cold. My rule of thumb is to take a break from threads getting hot. Bit like when you have a toddler. If you feel yourself getting cross, it's definitely time for a cup of tea and a biscuit.
I agree 100% about taking a break with tea and a biscuit as a coping mechanism.

I became rather plump while mine were toddlers and then again during the Winter of discontented school at home which left me feeling like this Confused and this Angry and led to much emotional regulation via Brew and Cake and Biscuit

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 13/03/2021 21:13

One can get bored with reading 502 and 504 by turns of a Saturday evening.

StrangeLookingParasite · 13/03/2021 22:14

I stupidly (and pointlessly) got quite cross at someone who neither replies nor, I'm sure, gives a single solitary tinker's cuss.

OTOH, I did make this cake yesterday, and will be making small versions tomorrow.
(it's chocolate with icing sugar on top)

I’m A bit worried that it may result in vipers down though. Not worth it!

It's emphatically not worth another Viper Down. I was trying to find some threads from 2-3 years ago - so many posters gone. It felt especially poignant with everything that is happening right now.

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 14/03/2021 07:13

I need to get something off my chest after reading the Andy NGO thread.

It's spelled cinnamon

Helleofabore · 14/03/2021 08:33

After seeing some of the posts that are left to stand with not new regulars making rash generalizations, I do think I need a lot of hiking today. Over the hills and far away.

Take care vipers. Don’t get caught in snares please.

Sophoclesthefox · 14/03/2021 08:40

Here here helleofabore. Don’t take the bait.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/03/2021 08:44

It's pretty amazing that posters are being deleted for critiquing a highly misogynistic text about what it feels like to be a woman, yet those of us who critique this very violent account and say it does not speak for us are deleted.

MichelleofzeResistance · 14/03/2021 09:52

There is no point trying to argue someone out of their fixed beliefs. There really isn't. Better threads that may today catch journalists, MPs and HoL people's eye, and ones focused on what people can practically do to raise awareness and support action. That's where it's worth contributing.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 14/03/2021 10:03

The scent of GF is strong in some threads.

And, as Michelle says, more strategic to focus on lacunae in statistics and practical actions.

Thecatonthemat · 14/03/2021 10:46

Fundraising thread now disappeared ..I was only on p 1 so no idea what for

nauticant · 14/03/2021 10:47

I'm getting very tired of reading that anyone in FWR who doesn't support left-wing activism, including violence, is on the way to being a Nazi, if not already a card-carrying member of the Party.

Thecatonthemat · 14/03/2021 10:49

I must not engage I must not engage I must not engage etc

ErrolTheDragon · 14/03/2021 10:50

Yeah... unfortunately I'm sure some will.

FactsAndFigs · 14/03/2021 10:50

was just trying to post reply, wanted to say i was few pages behind in catching up

thanks Helleofabore I would like to say really lapsed on getting facts right on this because wasn't wearing my glasses but that's lame I hold my hands up and apologise for getting it wrong.
