The useful Bunbury Guide to Spotting Community Disruptors is constantly evolving.

The best research and advice is not to engage with community disruptors and trolls. As ever, if you suspect troll activity, report it to MNHQ.

This is a continuation of the Public Service Announcement thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a4164702-Bunbury-s-Eighth-Sealion-training-for-beginners?msgid=105201850#105201850

If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging. AS is your friend.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted.. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we always have community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

This thread will be taking a leisurely stroll through the foothills of community disruption, noting the behaviour of wildlife and interesting flora and fauna en route.

I like hot baked beans, hot rice pudding and hot pasty (proper Cornish only) but I LOVE the cold version of all those.

I always have some cold baked beans fresh from the tin :-))

@ErrolTheDragon

Finally a weird food thing I’m on board with

That wasn't weird, that was school lunch.

Rescuing seized chocolate is a pest. As Errol suggests, the simplest thing to do is to convert it those items or to chip bits off it and stir through cold puddings or even freeze it to include tiny amounts in mole sauces.

It did feel like an awful waste. Didn't think of rocky road or fridge cake or anything, I was in too much of a flap Blush

I'm not keen on the warbling genre of music. Just not my thing at all.

boatyardblues · 13/03/2021 00:06

I plan to live off tinned rice pudding as my food staple if there’s ever an apocalypse. It’s equally delicious hot or cold.

ItsLateHumpty · 13/03/2021 02:39

I love left over boiled rice for breakfast with cold milk and sugar.

Also cheese with jam or honey on toast is mm mmm yum.

As a kid if we’d been the best behaved of all of us at the end of two weeks, we’d win the saved crumbs from the biscuit tin to eat with milk for breakfast or pudding - our choice!

I’ve done some hillwalking here, but in my thongs. It’s been 30 degrees, I think wellies would have been a bit swampy 🤢

Breakfast Gin for all.

I could get on board with that.

My favourite tipple is actually Rice Dream, though it might be a stretch to call it dreamy.

I don’t have any Bunbury recipes to offer, unless my famous banana ice cream counts. Put 1 banana (or 2 of you want 2), previously cut and frozen, in blender. Add a splash of milk, preferably of the rice variety if you’re cutting down on dairy. Blend. Et voilà, a fair ice-cream analogue.

borntobequiet · 13/03/2021 06:55

although it escapes me why it needed a key

Probably to prevent random people walking by from popping in to use it.
An “off-grid” couple I knew in the 70s kept their long drop toilet locked for this reason, but they had a habit of losing the key. Their hippie lifestyle didn’t last long because their organisational skills were poor and they weren’t any good at growing things, animal husbandry or general maintenance. A bit of a disaster really.

Breakfast gin!!!!!

Brilliant. And took an Australian to come up with it. Bloody marvelous. I am in!!

And I love it when science deniers get a visit from someone they can’t hand wipe away (someone I am keen to see more posts from because there is so much to learn from listening to them, although I don’t expect that I shall agree with everything). I am looking forward to seeing them (the science deniers) try because I know they will try.

I can also add using a teaspoon or two to very slow cooked beef bourguignon.

ErrolTheDragon · 13/03/2021 08:29

My favourite banana 'ice cream' is frozen banana blended either with a good dollop of Nutella or similar, or with natural yogurt and some sort of berry which can also be frozen.

DH once did a bit of not very serious prepping which was mostly tinned rice pudding, baked beans and sardines. I could probably live on those for a few days if there was nothing else and no means of cooking; he absolutely detests baked beans.Confused

DaisiesandButtercups · 13/03/2021 11:25

A poster mentioned donkeys and squirrels a few pages back and it really made me think, the Cats Protection League has got it coming eh? What about the dogs? These organisations must be the next level for inclusivity and diversity or inclusion and divergence or whatever.

Anyway I will leave you heathens to your own devices. I am going to make crumble today. With apples, pears, cinnamon and mixed spice, flour, sugar and fat. Nothing to do with any of the unmentionables (tries not to think of weetabix, baked beans, fails and shudders).

highame · 13/03/2021 11:38

My grandma's rice pudding in the enamel dish - we'd argue over the crispy edges yummy.
Tinned rice pudding not my thing, though I could do with it to fling at the squirrel who keeps damaging the bird feeders. The sweeping brush no longer works Grin

We wanted the caramelised skin and the crispy edges. All these carby comforting foods.

Can I come to yours for dinner please?

What about the sea lions? We need a Pinniped Rescue centre.

MichelleofzeResistance · 13/03/2021 11:50

Look Pinniped Rescue is excluding people with cancer, and vegans. This is appalling intolerance, where is the centering of quantity surveyors and their very particular needs in veganism? Pinnipeds need to hand over their privilege.

Or something.

Now I'm craving rice pudding, so thanks for that..... there used to be a place in Stratford that made tiny squares of very set, cubed rice pudding that was utterly fantastic, and served with squidgy rich gingerbread.

Now I'm pining for rice pudding ice-cream served with 4 ginger gingerbread.

I keep getting these slightly surreal fragments floating up in my 'active' threads ...

I think 'slightly surreal' is rather a lovely view of feminism and women's rights at the moment Grin

I love this thread, the food related/hill related chat is a very comforting thing.

lifeturnsonadime · 13/03/2021 12:28

Right you lot are making me do it, I am going to bake a cake this afternoon. Specifically an apple crumble loaf. Which is a bit like a lemon drizzle only apple with a crunchy crumblesque topping.

OilBeefHooked · 13/03/2021 12:30

I'm finding some of the rice pudding talk a bit boketastic. And it's a gateway to talking about cold egg custard tarts.

ArabellaScott · 13/03/2021 12:35

I spent a full two hours stirring custard the other day. Was catatonic by the end of it. It was shit, too. I don't have the custard-making gene.

indeed it is. The thing is it's always only ever whatabout one thing. Driving me nuts. So instead I'm off to eat them on the cake.
