Bunbury's Ninth Public Announcement - Hill Walking Club

The useful Bunbury Guide to Spotting Community Disruptors is constantly evolving.

The best research and advice is not to engage with community disruptors and trolls. As ever, if you suspect troll activity, report it to MNHQ.

This is a continuation of the Public Service Announcement thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a4164702-Bunbury-s-Eighth-Sealion-training-for-beginners?msgid=105201850#105201850

If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging. AS is your friend.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted.. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we always have community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

This thread will be taking a leisurely stroll through the foothills of community disruption, noting the behaviour of wildlife and interesting flora and fauna en route.

@PotholeParadies

I've always liked cold baked beans in sandwiches.
Right - that's it. I'm no longer a feminist. Which is a pity because females do need a bit of help, but they can jog on now I must ask myself, how can I align myself to such opinions?
EmbarrassingAdmissions · 12/03/2021 15:24

Nothing to steal unless ripped up newspaper hanging off a nail was worth something.

No bleach to steal? (Painful memories of endless Neighbourhood Watch meetings in which people accused each other of this.)

DialSquare · 12/03/2021 15:31

Oohh I missed the cold baked beans chat. I eat them cold straight out of the tin!

Gurufloof · 12/03/2021 16:05

I dunno I was a kid. Wasnt it just a pit underneath and bleach would have ruined the "eco system" or something like that. I dont know anyone else who grew up with the outdoor shitter so no one to ask now.
Helleofabore · 12/03/2021 16:09

I think embarassingadmissions that might mean it was a drop toilet and newspaper was instead of loo roll.

Yeah guru. My dad replaced the thunderbox when I was about 4 or 5. But the flush dunny was fun, it had many critter visitors. Toads as big as a plate, lovely green frogs (they liked the loo bowl so you had to make sure they didn’t get squashed by the seat, spiders, the odd echidna snuggled in the corner of the room, a constant stream of chickens, the odd snake ( they were scary) and if you left the door open if you were in there the horses would come for a pat.

It was fun, but not at night and not after dark.

Helleofabore · 12/03/2021 16:10

Yes. guru. Bleach is bad for drop loos.

highame · 12/03/2021 16:34

Glad to see the cold baked beans have caused a bit of a culture clash. I must admit I'm more centre left baked beans wise. One cold spoonful now and again does me fine but in sandwiches Shock. I notice something creepy, creeping into a thread about those who change their minds - on their day too. Annoying

Zeev · 12/03/2021 16:57

There seems to be no consensus. Either those who change their minds never were of the one mind to begin with, or they will change their minds again in the future. And anyway, nobody ever changes their mind.

No cold beans here, just hot lentils.

Siablue · 12/03/2021 18:50

I am finding everything a bit much today. There are just so many upsetting stories I am finding it quite hard to cope and that is before I start to think about eating cold baked beans.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/03/2021 19:02

Baked beans should be hot, with some smoked paprika and/or chipotle Tabasco. Poaching an egg in them works well. Add cheese if you want, serve with hot buttered toast of whatever type you like.

OilBeefHooked · 12/03/2021 19:26

Cold baked beans sandwiches just sound so messy as well as unnecessary. God gave us microwaves for a reason, folx.

I went round to a friend's house for tea as a child and we were all given cold rice pudding after tea. The oven was but apparently the family "preferred it cold." Although I imagine even congealed rice pudding would make less mess than baked beans if placed between two slices of bread.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/03/2021 19:28

Very cold rice pudding is ok.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/03/2021 19:30

With tinned fruit or some jam, ideally.

MaudTheInvincible · 12/03/2021 19:37

I like lentils of any temperature. And rice pudding too. Not together though.

Is it possible to rescue seized chocolate? With hollandaise I just whisk the split mixture into a new egg yolk, but I was making a cake the other week and my melted chocolate and butter went all grainy and I didn't know what to do so chucked it in the bin.

terryleather · 12/03/2021 19:39

I have made homemade malt loaf and have bought some fucking expensive Wensleydale from Waitrose and am going to troff loads of it washed down with some spiced rum because I have absolutely fucking had it with this week..."Boobs" Izzard was the final straw.

OilBeefHooked · 12/03/2021 19:47

@ErrolTheDragon

Very cold rice pudding is ok.
How can you sleep at night Shock

I'm going to stuff some cherry jaffa cakes (which are crap, tbh) and trying to forget all this talk about nasty, nasty food combinations. It's not taking my mind off of things - I spent the entire of PM yelling at Evan Davies.

AbsintheFriends · 12/03/2021 20:19

Did BOTH the Guardian/Izzard threads go? I just saw that annoying Guardian TV ad with the butterfly beating against the glass and the 'Nothing Changes' strapline struck me as being particularly ironic today.

Nothing fucking changes.

DayBath · 12/03/2021 21:19

I got a strike for commenting on the political leanings of the moderators the other week, so I can't restate the obvious. The deletion of the boobs thread says it all for me.

I have some Fry's Turkish Delight in the cupboard next to my Jaffa Cakes, they should definitely do a special edition Fry's Jaffa's. I could have it for pudding after eating my HOT beans on toast the proper way.

DayBath · 12/03/2021 21:24

amp.theguardian.com/music/2021/mar/12/sam-smith-gender-2021-brit-awards

Don't know if this has been picked up but I'm too annoyed to give this its own thread as it will only lure Twits over. Apart from the obvious objections, I can't get my head around him being up for a Brit award anyway, with that whiny nasal voice that just grates on my nerves. Ugh.

PottingCompost · 12/03/2021 21:40

I predict a rebrand for the categories. Male and non-male.

Smith will be shunted to the non-male category and have an unbroken streak of wins for three years.
.

Gurufloof · 12/03/2021 22:07

Rice pudding at any temperature is vile, so is semolina and tapioca. I went to school in the 70s can you tell?
Lentils however are good any colour any temperature, add some tuna and it's a winner.

I cant bring myself to care about Sam Smith except for they will win a shit load of awards and have awards named for them etc etc

Sophoclesthefox · 12/03/2021 22:12

@ErrolTheDragon

With tinned fruit or some jam, ideally.
Finally a weird food thing I’m on board with Grin

Rice pudding in all states, at all times. Not in a sammich though, that’d be nasty.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/03/2021 22:13

How about smith asserts nonbinary gender but male sex and gets an award? There's really no conflict.

my melted chocolate and butter went all grainy and I didn't know what to do so chucked it in the bin.

Surely you could have just stirred in whatever you had available for make rocky road or tiffin or chocolate flapjacks or whatever?

Sophoclesthefox · 12/03/2021 22:13

Dammit, wrong quote, that was supposed to be endorsing cold rice pud!

ErrolTheDragon · 12/03/2021 22:14

Finally a weird food thing I’m on board with

That wasn't weird, that was school lunch.
