Bunbury's Ninth Public Announcement - Hill Walking Club

The useful Bunbury Guide to Spotting Community Disruptors is constantly evolving.

The best research and advice is not to engage with community disruptors and trolls. As ever, if you suspect troll activity, report it to MNHQ.

This is a continuation of the Public Service Announcement thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a4164702-Bunbury-s-Eighth-Sealion-training-for-beginners?msgid=105201850#105201850

If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging. AS is your friend.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted.. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we always have community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

This thread will be taking a leisurely stroll through the foothills of community disruption, noting the behaviour of wildlife and interesting flora and fauna en route.

@CardinalLolzy

I know this isn't the thread but I didn't want a big debate. I just had to turn the TV off - watching Question Time and 5 mins in to the Sarah E murder discussion some woman pops up to say men are victims too and let's not frighten all the women. Got me angry, I'm going to bed.
uggh. and more NAMALT on AIBU 'The men I know feel like this too'

@Bordois

In Australia they put beetroot and pineapple in a burger 🥴
yum
Helleofabore · 12/03/2021 11:03

I love beetroot on my burger. And cheese and egg and bacon. Not pineapple. That is dessert.

midgedude · 12/03/2021 11:18

Strange implies curiosity and openness to me.

I do wish people would assume the best and not the worst of people

Kit19 · 12/03/2021 12:39

I darent engage on those AIBU threads, Im already on a strike. Someone's Nigel was terribly upset to get a text message from a female friend outlining what men could do to make women feel safe because he's never done anything ever to make women feel unsafe and what about his feelings eh??

ArabellaScott · 12/03/2021 12:50

Beetroot/halloumi burgers are deli ci ous.

Thinking of proposing 'women's rage' as a new alternative power source to fossil fuels. I could light up Blackpool this week, and that's before I've even hit any peri-menopausal hot flashes.

Thoroughly fed up today. SE threads are moving so quickly nobody sees you post, it's impossible to keep up with the arguments over on AIBU. Today is just ... ugh.

And to top it all I come back here to find you lot preparing COLD beans and spaghetti sandwiches like it's some sort of apocalypse and we've run out of decent food and camp stoves! I mean how are we going to get that sloppy mess up the mountain in our lunch boxes without it congealing on the way? Heathens, the lot of you. Wink

Imagine a woman alone in a room hooked up to machines while pictures are projected onto the wall in front of her - the front page of today's Guardian, Twitter screenshots, baked beans on Weetabix, marmite and honey on toast, pineapple and beetroot on pizza....

I've got some freeze dried meals if you don't fancy tinned spaghetti. DH bought them for his wild adventure in the summer but found himself some chi chi restaurant doing posh takeaways instead.
I think the only good that comes from flashpoints like this is the forging of a whole new bunch of feminists whose scales have dropped from their eyes. I didn't think I was racist, but BLM was illuminating for me and it revealed such a lot that I didn't know. I think events like this are similar for raising awareness sadly.

BabySharkdodoo · 12/03/2021 13:12

Eeek- sorry I think that I may have inadvertently contributed to the demise of a thread Confused

Kit19 · 12/03/2021 13:15

was it boob related by any chance?? I think that one was always going to be marked....

BabySharkdodoo · 12/03/2021 13:20

Yes- I posted a link to a medium article about 13 year olds bullying someone out if their toilets...and I also did a pulp cover

Floisme · 12/03/2021 13:25

I don't post on this thread very often but I can't get my head around how someone with serious political ambitions thinks it's appropriate to talk about their 'boob envy', how a self-styled serious newspaper can quote this person in a totally unquestioning way, but how we're the ones who can't discuss it.

Helleofabore · 12/03/2021 13:26

I think I am bored with hostile posting science deniers too. If we have to keep posting why males are not, and cannot ever be, females, it is like Groundhog Day.

Bunbury is helpful but can never fully mitigate against this.

There may at some point be a companion text: Why Bunbury Is Considering No Longer Talking to the Faux-Naîf (aka sealions, JAQs) About This

Aussies are heathens then? I've googled tinned beetroot cos I've never heard of it. Its definitely a thing. Not buying cos it's not that hard to do it yourself or buy a jar. Still on food, does everyone buy jars of sliced olives because a, no pitting, b, more olives?

I love the donkey sanctuary reply btw.

MoltenLasagne · 12/03/2021 14:29

The deletion message has annoyed me "oh it's really important to discuss this front page but we've decided to tank the thread rather than individual posts we feel cross the line." So hill walking it is.

After last week's very successful soreen and cheese combo (thanks all), I am now tempted to try the marmite and honey sandwich, weird as it sounds.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 12/03/2021 14:38

Is there guidance on the honey? Genuinely wondering as they vary so enormously (and there's absolutely no chance that I'd risk my precious Hilltop Honey Scottish Heather Honey on this without strong reports that it's the bees knees (not at all sorry)).

Zeev · 12/03/2021 14:43

I have a feeling there'll be lots of trans widows walking the hills this weekend.

Helleofabore · 12/03/2021 14:45

And you call us heathens?

Who buys olives without the pit? Or even sliced? That is going too far!

And yes, definitely a heathen here. Grew up without running hot water, an outdoor toilet and an outdoor bath.

I know, right? Strangely enough, you can survive it. Even electricity from a generator that runs for only 4 hours a day!! Grin

I'm as apprehensive about breaking my teeth as most people but we're not barbarians.

Jalapenos - that's a different story.

QuentinWinters · 12/03/2021 14:50

I'm annoyed the boob thread got deleted for "personal attacks". On a famous person who has put it all out there themselves in a guardian interview. Feels like censorship

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/03/2021 14:59

@PotholeParadies

Double whammy of IWD and the murder of Sarah. It's the kind of femicide that the press can't easily justify straight away so that meant women started talking about their experiences of violence.

Naturally, we have the backlash.

I'll just drop this here and not say anything about most-abused-group ratings.

www.marieclaire.co.uk/opinion/lockdown-street-harassment-731513

I tend to use what I call the "cooking honey" the present jar is called Highgate Fayre and was a present for a sandwich with Marmite, and it has to be set honey because the runny delicious heather sort IU eat with scones doesn't stick to the Marmite, it just escapes and snuggles up to me boosoms and then I have to change my jumper and have a bath.

Gurufloof · 12/03/2021 15:05

And you call us heathens

Oh yeah guilty, I'm the most heathen like of us all. I eat some disgusting things too. Honest. I also grew up with the outdoor bog (key on a cotton bobbin in case it fell in it wouldnt sink) although it escapes me why it needed a key. Nothing to steal unless ripped up newspaper hanging off a nail was worth something.
