If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging. AS is your friend.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted.. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we always have community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

This thread will be taking a leisurely stroll through the foothills of community disruption, noting the behaviour of wildlife and interesting flora and fauna en route.

In our house when I was a child, it was considered a huge treat to be given tinned salmon mashed with vinegar at tea time on a Sunday afternoon.
It was usually only served on high days and holidays, or when my gran visited.

I have this weird feeling that I am expected to always be the adult in the (virtual) room here (the same applies to many other women here).

If people are having emotional, illogical arguments, I am supposed to stay calm even if it annoys me.

If people are throwing out unbiased accusations, I am supposed to be calm and gently put them right.

If people use hyperbole against me, I need to be measured.

I actually find it discriminating that I cannot use hyperbole and emotional/irrational arguments without being deleted. These people are not my children, I don’t want to mother them.

I am, however, pleased to see that @midgedude's "old lady" post to me has been reinstated.

There is quite a bit of real, unthinking ageism on MN at times, and I have reported it on occasion, but not when it's clearly a joke in a string of jokey posts.

That's a shame, she will be missed. I mentioned somewhere in the last Bunbury thread I though Cara had gone. I think it was was over the women's representation panel thread that was turned into swiss cheese. If I recall she had a number of deletions in that.

I'm nowhere else because I was concerned at the reports that a couple of places (don't know which) weren't that distinguishable from Parler.

So, I shall pay attention to where women might be flowing like water around obstacles if we're diverted from here.

I'm not planning on going elsewhere. One platform occupies more than enough of my headspace and time.
