Bunbury's Ninth Public Announcement - Hill Walking Club

The useful Bunbury Guide to Spotting Community Disruptors is constantly evolving.

The best research and advice is not to engage with community disruptors and trolls. As ever, if you suspect troll activity, report it to MNHQ.

This is a continuation of the Public Service Announcement thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a4164702-Bunbury-s-Eighth-Sealion-training-for-beginners?msgid=105201850#105201850

If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging. AS is your friend.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted.. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we always have community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

This thread will be taking a leisurely stroll through the foothills of community disruption, noting the behaviour of wildlife and interesting flora and fauna en route.

I popped a packet of Soreen in my trolley at Sainsbos this afternoon. I don’t like it, but the husband does. As earnest people on this site told me only today “it’s no skin off your nose, why not just do it?”

Oh no wait, that was pronouns, not cake bars. Dammit.

There are some quite disturbing food fads appearing on this thread, I have to say, you degenerate bunch. I’m not saying it’s getting to WBH level, but...sweet things and cheese get this look from me Hmm

ErrolTheDragon · 05/03/2021 16:04

Walking trousers - craghoppers are good if you need to get short length : isocool type top; fleece and/or goretex jacket with proper wired hood. Whichever of hat/buf/gloves/sunglasses are required. Decently supportive bra for comfortable downhill galumphing, and a walking pole. And a day rucksack.

Loads of pockets in that lot.Grin

MaudTheInvincible · 05/03/2021 16:09

Me and dc scoffed the toasted soreen in about five seconds flat. The outside was toasted but the inside was all melty. Will have to buy another to do the cheese experiment.

I want gaiters. I'm going to get a pair before my next visit to the lakes post-lockdown. I really think they will improve my hiking life.

PotholeParadies · 05/03/2021 16:12

There's something eeriely familiar about the hills we're walking through. I swear I've previously seen this footpath.

MichelleofzeResistance · 05/03/2021 16:45

So well done HQ.

It’s like the Blair witch project where they get all turned around and find themselves back in the same place again and again and again until they could just scream.

I’m expecting fingers wrapped in leaves and meaningful twigs any moment now.

Beamur · 05/03/2021 18:00

I want some Soreen now. Just spent 2 hours staining decking and need a snack.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/03/2021 18:35

After the third or fourth time they crossed the same little river in The Blair Witch Project, about 90% of the audience was shouting "Just go downstream!" at the screen. Mind you, the showing I saw was a student union one, so the rot was probably started by the ones studying geography.

boatyardblues · 05/03/2021 18:37

@Gurufloof

I know we've covered the shoes, but what else are we wearing on our trip

As per another thread, how about utilikilts?
They have pockets

But draughts and susceptibility to upskirting.
DayBath · 05/03/2021 19:35

Echoing @Kettlingur and @MichelleofzeResistance frustrations.

I can cope with the influx of Tweeters (or Twits as I like to call them). What I can't abide is how little MN talks to us and how impossible it seens to get admins to engage in a thread more than once. So many women with so many questions just calling into the void and being ignored.

I'm taking my boots off, all this hill climbing is giving me blisters. Pass the tea. Brew

DayBath · 05/03/2021 19:43

On the plus side, I popped a packet of strawberry mini soreen into the basket for my Tesco delivery tomorrow. At least the malt loaf company are getting a nice sales boost out of us all here.

Our friend found the hand-held jerky camera work so jarring he developed full blown motion sickness and had to leave part way through to barf. It was a crap film.

On a hill walk I give you the draught howevermythighsrubsothat'sokwithme--
But upskirting on a hill walk with only other women?

PotholeParadies · 05/03/2021 21:05

Well, insects fly up skirts. Or, at least it's happened to me my friend.

ArabellaScott · 05/03/2021 22:29

Do not, I repeat do not, put cheese + sweet things into the same category as the fucking filth that is the notorious WBH - there is absolutely no call for that! ....
Sophoclesthefox · 05/03/2021 22:40

Cheesecake doesn’t count! Because reasons!

Steady on Terri, you’ll blow a gasket Grin I said it wasn’t as bad. Ballpark, though...

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 05/03/2021 23:38

I'm unrepentant. Fruit cake needs cheese with it - whether it's Christmas Cake or a pressed fig, anise and walnut cake. Membrillo or quince cheese - deeply delicious. Nuts or even candied nuts with cheese are splendid.

Fruit and cheese forever.

There's an entire thread about a person very similar to the men whose wives I have been supporting for the last 4 years. There's all kinds of guff being talked on said thread, but despite my expertise in this area I can't contribute because it will be reported and I will probably be banned.
PotholeParadies · 06/03/2021 01:15

Leading supermarket? P'raps it's best to just let it fall off the front page.

CharlieParley · 06/03/2021 03:12

I'm going hillwalking in five hours and sleep continues to elude me. I've given up trying to get to sleep. My own fault, I'm not terribly fond of traipsing through the heather at speed but thought let's get it over with and start early. That way I can enjoy the rest of my Saturday in peace. As rather surprisingly the kids volunteered to come along to push me up the hill (and my youngest has been generally glued to his computer all week, so that can only be a good thing), I can't even back out now.

I've said my bot on site stuff but after receiving a strike for one of my most innocuous posts ever am trying hard to sit tight now.

No wandering over the peaks and dales at this hour. Please give me more of your weird food combos.

PotholeParadies · 06/03/2021 03:32

I really like sprinkling vinegar on sliced cucumber.

CharlieParley · 06/03/2021 03:34

Have just seen that thread TinselAngel. FWIW (and I am not a transwidow) I seem to have learned loads from your threads. Because my thinking went along lines that I do wish you of all women here could freely explore. I hope it can give you some comfort to know that your experience has not gone unheard and has equipped many more women than you know with the knowledge to protect themselves and their children should they need it Flowers
