Bunbury's Ninth Public Announcement - Hill Walking Club

The useful Bunbury Guide to Spotting Community Disruptors is constantly evolving.

The best research and advice is not to engage with community disruptors and trolls. As ever, if you suspect troll activity, report it to MNHQ.

This is a continuation of the Public Service Announcement thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a4164702-Bunbury-s-Eighth-Sealion-training-for-beginners?msgid=105201850#105201850

If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging. AS is your friend.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted.. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we always have community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

This thread will be taking a leisurely stroll through the foothills of community disruption, noting the behaviour of wildlife and interesting flora and fauna en route.

I did wonder Daisies - I couldnt get back in for ages. Seems a strange coincidence after the last 2 days incoming....

DaisiesandButtercups · 05/03/2021 13:18

Yes that is what I thought too Kit19, someone somewhere might be upset with us for some reason... not sure why that would be the case when they seemed to get the run of the board and make their statements of belief all over but we are still not allowed to say what we honestly think in plain English.

RaidersoftheLostAardvark · 05/03/2021 13:22

Can I join the hillwalking club? I have inexplicably lost my hiking boots but I have excellent wellies, a deep seated love of cheese & an increasing intolerance of misogyny. Not fond of malt loaf though.

old.reddit.com/r/teenagers/comments/ly7osi/not_being_attracted_to_trans_people_is_not/

This popped up on the front page of Reddit today, from the teenagers forum. Incredibly uplifting to see that generation are starting to switch on to some of this stuff. It's only the tip of the iceberg but it really brought me hope because it's usually so popular to buy into every bit of TWAW theory at that age.

Glad to see our young people are still critical thinkers who can make their own minds up!

DeaconBoo · 05/03/2021 13:31

Think Erish anticipated the 'site down' questions and answered before we'd asked...! Twitter says just new code.

OvaHere · 05/03/2021 13:32

More the merrier Raiders. We also like Arla products around these parts if Soreen isn't to your taste.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/03/2021 13:33

I was responding to Biscuits as I assumed that was what she was talking about, after an hour or so of the site being down.

Biscuitsanddoombar · 05/03/2021 13:34

Ah ok Eresh - the incoming is making me twitchy!

DayBath · 05/03/2021 13:34

Welcome @RaidersoftheLostAardvark, I love your username! If you don't mind I will shorten it to Raiders as it feels a bit rude calling someone an Aardvark! Grin

DaisiesandButtercups · 05/03/2021 13:41

Welcome RaidersoftheLostAardvark.

Any kind of yummy treat is fine really.

Last night I missed out on the cherry chocolate and this morning I popped the local shop and bought two bars of Montezuma’s Black Forest dark cherry chocolate. The whole family love it so we are one bar down already. Shock

Cherry after eights sound like a great idea, although I hope a more ethical brand such as Divine will make some. I am still following the Baby Milk Action boycott.

MaudTheInvincible · 05/03/2021 13:41

After seeing recommendations on here I am going to try toasting some Soreen this afternoon. Might also try some with a nice bit of salty cheddar. I feel like I should thank mimmymum for helping me to see the possibilities of malt loaf.

Ahh yes I missed the last posts on the previous page somehow. Thanks

@DialSquare

There something familiar about a poster taking about their child on another thread.
deja vu indeed
PotholeParadies · 05/03/2021 14:22

I know we've covered the shoes, but what else are we wearing on our trip? It's important to wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing on long walks.

I've got a particular t-shirt ordered. Drop over to the centring women thread to learn more about it. Like Spinal Tap, we've turned it up to 11 now. Wink

I'd like to personally thank mimmymum for bringing us the wonderful CuriousAboutSamphire, while we're on the subject!

@DaisiesandButtercups

Are we under DDOS attack again? I have been getting messages about there being a problem with mumsnet servers. Hmm
seems possible, since I wasn't able to get in earlier today. sigh.
Gcnq · 05/03/2021 14:48

Might just be traffic overload, Mumsnet was trending on Twitter after all.

Have they all watched Fleabag or is this just a thing for teenagers?

Back to the toasted malt loaf - can you do it in the toaster or do I have to faff around with the grill?

boatyardblues · 05/03/2021 15:04

@Kotatsu

bear with me here - but, stilton, concentrated tomato paste, and plenty of salt and pepper is a fantastic cheese toasty.

As good as the classic cheddar and worcester sauce (whispers, if not a bit better)

Stilton and grated raw carrot also makes fantastic toasty filling.
Waspnest · 05/03/2021 15:10

I'd use the grill. I haven't toasted malt loaf for a few years but I think it goes very gooey and nuclear hot. And then quickly goes crunchy and burnt!

Kettlingur · 05/03/2021 15:36

I'm super sad about the thread on site stuff. I need comfort food, and perhaps a nice stout.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 05/03/2021 15:40

I had a pint of mild the other day. I'd forgotten that I like it. Very sometimes it used to be a guest beer at our local.

Gurufloof · 05/03/2021 15:45

As per another thread, how about utilikilts?
They have pockets

PotholeParadies · 05/03/2021 15:58

I went out on a walk and now I've finally got my malt loaf. It's normal Soreen, not the newest flavours, but that'll do until tomorrow.
