The useful Bunbury Guide to Spotting Community Disruptors is constantly evolving.

The best research and advice is not to engage with community disruptors and trolls. As ever, if you suspect troll activity, report it to MNHQ.

This is a continuation of the Public Service Announcement thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a4164702-Bunbury-s-Eighth-Sealion-training-for-beginners?msgid=105201850#105201850

If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging. AS is your friend.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted.. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we always have community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

This thread will be taking a leisurely stroll through the foothills of community disruption, noting the behaviour of wildlife and interesting flora and fauna en route.

The Telegraph did a short piece about MN, Soreen and Twitter transactivists.

I was reading that bit in Discovery of Witches last night where the guards at Bedlam Hospital open the hospital to well off visitors who come and provoke and jeer at the inmates. They have the staff to control the inmates with sticks to make sure the visitors are safe of course, it's ok. Tis an interesting book in many ways.

I'm all for the Stilton. (Which I can't actually eat but have wonderful memories of. Sigh.) I will definitely sign up for the hipflask though.

Kotatsu · 05/03/2021 10:11

bear with me here - but, stilton, concentrated tomato paste, and plenty of salt and pepper is a fantastic cheese toasty.

As good as the classic cheddar and worcester sauce (whispers, if not a bit better)

DayBath · 05/03/2021 10:21

Thanks for the article link OvaHere.

Speaking of soreen they did an amazing chocolate orange version one Halloween, I still can't find it so it's just a seasonal one but it was very good.

Kit19 · 05/03/2021 10:31

ive just clicked on active discussions and every single advert on that page is for soreen :D I guess they're not going to be dropping MN then.....

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/03/2021 10:34

Some poor individual in the Soreen customer care department is going to wonder WTF hit them if they are spammed with 'Soreen supports transphobes' emails/tweets.

DayBath · 05/03/2021 10:37

Ironically the TRAs pressuring Soreen story has brought the brand name to the minds of many people who otherwise wouldn't have noticed the adverts or who use ad blockers.

So now I've added it to my shopping list for lunch boxes next week when it isn't part of our usual shop at all! Grin

Ithinktomyself · 05/03/2021 10:37

That reminds me, DS likes a bit of Soreen in his lunchbox - must stock up.

Every one of you who is managing to post intelligent, coherent responses on all these threads are heroes. I can't get beyond incandescent sweary rage.

DickKerrLadies · 05/03/2021 10:47

YY, I use an adblocker and without mimmymum drawing my attention to it, I would never have known about the Soreen advertising.

So that's nice.

Brew for those who need it this morning. Cracking job as usual.

Kotatsu · 05/03/2021 10:50

I can't get soreen where I live.. pre-covid, I actually used to drive 2 hours to another country so I could get it for the kids (my nan used to feed it to us so it has a fond place in my heart)

TartrazineCustard · 05/03/2021 10:50

Oooh, school goes back next week! I've been too snowed under with work to have thought ahead to packed lunches. Soreen eh? Hmm.

merrymouse · 05/03/2021 10:50

Talking of Soreen and Stilton, can the cheese/fruitcake combo work with Soreen, or do you always need something blander like butter? I haven't got any on hand to test my theory. May have to go and get some.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 05/03/2021 10:52

@Kotatsu

bear with me here - but, stilton, concentrated tomato paste, and plenty of salt and pepper is a fantastic cheese toasty.

As good as the classic cheddar and worcester sauce (whispers, if not a bit better)

Gonna try that
terryleather · 05/03/2021 10:56

I would imagine that would work very nicely merrymouse.

I'm very fond of stilton on a homemade oatcake topped with a drizzle of honey - another delicious savoury/sweet combo.

DaisiesandButtercups · 05/03/2021 11:26

@boatyardblues

Which thread for the books/tent?
This thread moved fast in the night!

There is a thread titled “was Laura Ingalls Wilder a feminist”.

I took inspiration from there to dig out my old copy of Little House in the Big Woods for bedtime reading.

Biscuitsanddoombar · 05/03/2021 11:36

For those using ad blockers 😆

DickKerrLadies · 05/03/2021 11:49

haha thanks Biscuits Grin

Thecatonthemat · 05/03/2021 11:49

I go out for a few hours and things move too fast for keeping up. Please can I have some of whatever it is that keeps your energy levels up. Diabetic though so have to be careful!

DialSquare · 05/03/2021 11:53

There something familiar about a poster taking about their child on another thread.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/03/2021 11:55

There is.

Biscuitsanddoombar · 05/03/2021 13:05

I’m sure it’s all a coincidence

Ereshkigalangcleg · 05/03/2021 13:07

New code, according to Mumsnet feed on Twitter.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 05/03/2021 13:08

Site stuff is interesting right now.

DaisiesandButtercups · 05/03/2021 13:08

Are we under DDOS attack again? I have been getting messages about there being a problem with mumsnet servers. Hmm
