Bunbury's Ninth Public Announcement - Hill Walking Club

The useful Bunbury Guide to Spotting Community Disruptors is constantly evolving.

The best research and advice is not to engage with community disruptors and trolls. As ever, if you suspect troll activity, report it to MNHQ.

This is a continuation of the Public Service Announcement thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a4164702-Bunbury-s-Eighth-Sealion-training-for-beginners?msgid=105201850#105201850

If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging. AS is your friend.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted.. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we always have community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

This thread will be taking a leisurely stroll through the foothills of community disruption, noting the behaviour of wildlife and interesting flora and fauna en route.

I've bought those, OvaHere. I wish I could endorse them, but I can't. They're slightly wrong. Can't put my finger on how, but they leave me still wanting a proper, real bakewell tart.

DayBath · 04/03/2021 22:34

Yeah that's mine Tinsel. Just waiting for my shiny second strike badge for sticking my head over the parapet again. When will I ever learn. Grin

BaronessWrongCrowd · 04/03/2021 22:44

Just posted on it and now waiting for a strike.

DayBath · 04/03/2021 22:49

Fuck it I'm out again, I'm hiding in here with my tin hat on until this is all over. Going to toast some marshmallows on the fire and talk about the good old times (aka 24 hours ago), back when I barely ventured out of Chat and the Feminism board was but a distant hill on the landscape. Ah, those were the days.

We did this to you in only 24 hours? Shock

My Site Stuff thread really genuinely was just to find out about the rules regarding multiple posts of the same thing. It just felt so messy and spammy not to contain it all into one neat thread so it was easier to follow. I understand why people have turned it into a general place to complain about the wider themes going on at the moment and I don't mind that but I just hope I'm not nuked for starting it now!!

DayBath · 04/03/2021 22:54

Yes @Pothole, you all lured me in with your damn logic and sensible thinking, damn you all! Grin

PotholeParadies · 04/03/2021 23:01

Well, you're fitting in brilliantly- I thought you'd been here for yonks but you'd namechanged!

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 04/03/2021 23:33

@WoolOfBat

For other cherry lovers, have you tried homemade Bakewell tart? Almonds, cherry and cake, all in one.
On a random note, I took delivery of 2kg of tart cherries yesterday and 1 kg of sweet cherries (both dried). I'm inordinately fond of cherries - just in case anyone was in any doubt. I may also have @ 10kg of almonds in whole, flaked, ground, or nibbed form.
littlbrowndog · 04/03/2021 23:38

Can you lot go on Scottish crime bills thread please

Fuck that other thread sucking the life out of us

DeaconBoo · 05/03/2021 00:05

I clearly picked a good time to not-be-arsed about looking at obviously goady threads!
Sometimes you look at a thread title and ask yourself - is there a non-zero chance it's actually worth my time and energy responding? - and the answer becomes clear as gin. Grin

I'm not sure whether it would or wouldn't be OK if someone wanted, for some reason, to talk about the expression 'trans-identified male'. As far as I can see it should be treated on a par with 'Cis'.

Definitely not OK. I got one of my first deletions for doing just that, shortly after the new guidelines went up.

ItsLateHumpty · 05/03/2021 04:06

Sweet dreams are made of cheese
Who am I to dis a Brie
I cheddar the world and a Feta cheese
Everybody's looking for Stilton

SunsetBeetch that ^ was inspired Star

I made an Aldi recipe cherry pie t’other day - I wasn’t sure how it’d work because you just mix flour, sugar, and cherries together then chuck the lot in pastry lined pie dish and bake. It was lush!

Brew for all those currently hill walking.

Hello, I just want to have a pedantic tantrum over FACTS; I'm reading the XX brain and it states that women do have 1000s more genes due to the extra x. I added it to that bonkers tra thread and they made some sort of claim that they're all turned off.

(However can anyone corroborate?!)

WarriorN · 05/03/2021 07:57

Tescos sell raspberry jaffa cakes - I'm sure they've sold other, more radical flavours too in the Polish section. Search for "supreme jaffa cakes" the E Wedel ones should come up.

They also sell the Jezyki classic biscuits which are 9 round thin toffee crisps in a packet of chewy joy.

Gurufloof · 05/03/2021 08:14

slides a plate of Stilton and port onto the table

Tad early methinks. But thank you anyway.

Maybe they were alluding to this and getting confused?

I love a good recipe thread to start the day. Smile
It was good to see some interesting threads at the top of this board this morning - love the "writing women back into the countryside" one.

DayBath · 05/03/2021 08:24

Thanks Pothole! I've been on the main MN active board for ages so I've seen the odd Feminism thread pop up which has led to a bit of lurking. In turn that led to me following the likes of Sarah Phillimore and Helen Staniland elsewhere which gave me a good overview of the issues. There's still so much to learn though, it's surprising how deep this topic goes.
DayBath · 05/03/2021 08:27

Oh gosh, I'm drooling over the Stilton. Can't touch the stuff without my gallbladder having a right fit. Putting that on my list of first foods to eat once I get the damn thing taken out!

Stilton and caramelized onion sandwich is heaven!

WarriorN · 05/03/2021 08:35

That's brilliant Merry, thank you.

The port is medicinal, it's in a hip flask as we are reaching a particularly tricky part of the ascent.

CharlieParley · 05/03/2021 08:59

That reminds me of that delicious port I bought (because I misremembered the Sherry and bought an unpalatable one). I like that port far too much for how expensive it was. Now it sits in the cupboard undrunk because I want to make it last. Seems like a waste of a good port now, doesn't it?

Also, I wish I could get my mum's favourite cheese. It smells so bad she keeps it in a glass jar in the fridge. She always told me it was an acquired taste and I'd have to be old enough to enjoy it, but enjoy it I would one day. When I was old.

Well, I finally tried it again and thought it was delicious. And now I can't get it here.

WoolOfBat · 05/03/2021 09:09

Warrior, the combination of port and Stilton is divine.... luckily I don’t have it at home or I would have been tempted to have it for breakfast
