Bunbury's Ninth Public Announcement - Hill Walking Club

The useful Bunbury Guide to Spotting Community Disruptors is constantly evolving.

The best research and advice is not to engage with community disruptors and trolls. As ever, if you suspect troll activity, report it to MNHQ.

This is a continuation of the Public Service Announcement thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a4164702-Bunbury-s-Eighth-Sealion-training-for-beginners?msgid=105201850#105201850

If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging. AS is your friend.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted.. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we always have community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

This thread will be taking a leisurely stroll through the foothills of community disruption, noting the behaviour of wildlife and interesting flora and fauna en route.

Mind you :) I'm heartened too by the posts from lurkers and people new to FWR. Perhaps it is a time to keep going in the ways of the wise. Articulate, evidence, and argue with logic. This is one of the few places that women can do that. Perhaps it is a necessary evolution for a while? I have been upset by MN deletions too and I too am a premium member. But they are tightrope walking I think.

Sophoclesthefox · 04/03/2021 16:42

@Kit19

Im thinking of building a large wooden badger.....
Go on...?
CannotOperateOnThisFailure · 04/03/2021 16:42

I've bitten. I'm going back to my flapjack.

OwBist · 04/03/2021 17:09

Whatever you do, don't Google / YouTube "Badger, Badger, Badger"........ Grin

I think most regulars have noticed the "tell me your thoughts on xyz. I won't be joining in, as I don't trust myself to follow the rules, but you should." bollocks? Is this the FWR equivalent of the Herberts they get on AIBU?

(And yes, for anyone monitoring, I do mean this in a sarcastic / jokey way.)

MeltsAway · 04/03/2021 17:11

There you go. Never realised it was another Australianism. You learn something new everyday. I have always loved it as a descriptor.

You larrikin!

MeltsAway · 04/03/2021 17:13

And, sisters, I hang my head in shame - I bit into the sugar cake ...

Will get back to werk, shouldn't be here anyway, mumble mumble

ArabellaScott · 04/03/2021 17:17

@DaisiesandButtercups

Anyone got any good sugar free cake recipes? I feel I need to kick off Spring by making some healthier choices.
Banoffee pie without sugar is lovely, if a faff. It does involve a lot of dates, though, so not really sugar-free, just processed-sugar free.

www.bulk.com/uk/the-core/high-protein-sugar-free-banoffee-pie-recipe/

I'd probably use cream instead of whatever fresh hell 'whey protein powder' mixed with yogurt is.

In my family 'Banoffee pie' is known as 'offee pie', after the time one of my cousins made it and forgot to put the bananas in. It was at least 20 years ago and her siblings still think it's hilariously funny.

ArabellaScott · 04/03/2021 17:34

Ha, I like that! Discard the one potentially healthy ingredient!

SorryAuntLydia · 04/03/2021 17:38

Savoury only - nothing too sweet for me today.

I'm thinking a ripe brie.

DialSquare · 04/03/2021 17:43

@highame

Thanks for the reminder Ereshkig. You're in for a treat Dial btw did you get a post deleted the other day? I had one a couple of weeks ago
I love a bit of fruit bread with cheese but this sounds even better due to the toasty butteryness!

Probably. I got one deleted earlier today too. I don't think I've ever seen you post anything worthy of deletion.
I think my last strike is spent now. Not heard that I've got another one for today yet though.

I do try not to be too much of a drongo Melts! I had to change the word skite in an email this arvo as I realised from a previous conversation it was another Australianism.
SorryAuntLydia · 04/03/2021 17:44

Anyone else feel like playing with bumper cars - really must cook something for hungry DC

MichelleofzeResistance · 04/03/2021 17:54

I'm just stepping in here to say the words coming a lot to mind. Stupid, being one. And depressingly being another. I am of course referring to my issue with sheep cheese not being anywhere in any deli I can get to locally and not the large number of threads I'm going to hide because I just can't even.

Plumpcious · 04/03/2021 18:03

I bought some sheep's cheese from Sainsbury's recently - perhaps you might be pleasantly surprised and find it in a local supermarket?

Haven't tried it yet - what does it taste like? On a scale of cow's milk cheese to goat's milk cheese?

PotholeParadies · 04/03/2021 18:03

You know that quote that gets bandied around on twitter- "woke in the streets, GC between the sheets"?

I was thinking about reddit's 18+ subs and so on and what would happen if men didn"t get what they wanted when they typed "woman". What rhymes with "bar"? As in "woke something ; GC in the search bar".

MichelleofzeResistance · 04/03/2021 18:06

Ooh thank you! I'll try some different supermarkets Smile

ErrolTheDragon · 04/03/2021 18:17

It tastes like sheep's milk cheese. GrinI suppose a slight sweetness and the sheep's cheeses I've had are generally fairly salty. Maybe the best known and widely available is pecorino, but I always look for local cheeses when possible.

WarOnWomen · 04/03/2021 18:41

Lots of "just curious" posts.

(I'm skipping through a field of crocuses or is it croci as in cro-eye?)

ArabellaScott · 04/03/2021 18:48

It seems an incredibly dense fog has descended.

I'll wait it out on the hillside, I think. Can't see your own feet in this.

Woke on FWR, GC in the search bar?

I am eating a sort of apple fool with whipped vanilla cream and stewed apples. It’s been the kind of day with a lot of fools in it...

boatyardblues · 04/03/2021 19:19

@YetAnotherSpartacus

Goats cheese tastes of goat to me. I just can't be having with it.
Same. I can smell is across a room and not in a good way. 🤮
MichelleofzeResistance · 04/03/2021 19:27

Honestly, when you can't have anything better you're just grateful for any cheese that isn't that awful coconut based vegan monstrosity and still bears some relationship to cheese.

Sigh.

I need a whole lot more cake. Really a lot of cake. Quite obscene amounts of cake.

PotholeParadies · 04/03/2021 19:34

I like Cheezly soy-free fake-cheese.

DaisiesandButtercups · 04/03/2021 19:38

Thanks ArabellaScott, that banoffie recipe looks great Grin

Night all, I’m off to the tent for story time, Little House in the Big Woods, thanks to a suggestion from a mumsnet thread. StarStar
