Bunbury's Ninth Public Announcement - Hill Walking Club

The useful Bunbury Guide to Spotting Community Disruptors is constantly evolving.

The best research and advice is not to engage with community disruptors and trolls. As ever, if you suspect troll activity, report it to MNHQ.

This is a continuation of the Public Service Announcement thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a4164702-Bunbury-s-Eighth-Sealion-training-for-beginners?msgid=105201850#105201850

If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging. AS is your friend.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted.. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we always have community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

This thread will be taking a leisurely stroll through the foothills of community disruption, noting the behaviour of wildlife and interesting flora and fauna en route.

@BlackWaveComing

Just on Weetbix, I'd been eating them for 49 years - not mushy, I'm not a monster - with cold milk and brown sugar. Sometimes a handful of blueberries. The one day I took a bite, realised I was eating basically a non-food, just carby brown paste, and haven't touched them in the past year. So redemption is always possible.
NOOOOO! I used to be sent to school with a weetbix sandwich. two weetbix joined with butter. My mum loved butter but it was disgusting in the port rack baking in the sun til lunch time.... but I did love my 'weetbix sandwich'.

Was it this thread that was the issue?

The lack of civility there is palpable.

BlackWaveComing · 04/03/2021 10:43

Oh God, the idea of eating them without milk..with melted butter....

My mum used to have them with jam ad a snack as a kid.

drspouse · 04/03/2021 10:46

My DH used to have them with golden syrup... several years and a 1960s school dentist later he now has a mouth full of implants.

SorryAuntLydia · 04/03/2021 11:17

Bumping this because I guess it would be good to talk about cheese in honour of the many Swiss cheese threads in FWR
Personally smoked blue Stilton is a favourite if you have a strong palate
Alternatively a fresh Capricorn

MichelleofzeResistance · 04/03/2021 11:24

I miss camembert.

I have been forced to goats cheese and nothing but since suddenly going cow related anything dairy intolerant. There is a lot of nice goats cheese, the variety is improving, but oh for a hot french baguette, a baked camembert and a really good sweet pickle....

YetAnotherSpartacus · 04/03/2021 12:07

Goats cheese tastes of goat to me. I just can't be having with it.

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/03/2021 12:17

@GCAcademic please don't decamp. I'd miss your posts - you confound the shit out of the visitors.

SorryAuntLydia · 04/03/2021 12:20

Have you tried Wookey Hole goat - cheddar-like goat's cheese?

ErrolTheDragon · 04/03/2021 12:23

Some sheep's cheese is very nice, and not goaty, I'm very fond of Parlick Fell. (Also the hill itself, a short very sharp climb with great views.)

As if they were all just politely waiting to be asked to come in before like vampires

Grin haha

GCAcademic · 04/03/2021 12:27

Thank you @BoreOfWhabylon

I've no intention of giving them the satisfaction of decamping, but may just need to have a bit of time out to recover my sanity! The playing chess with pigeons analogy seems quite apt at the moment.

can you do sheep cheese?

@Gcnq

Just why... On... Earth.... Would anyone allow a Tweet inviting a load of TRAs to come and chat on Mumsnet Feminist chat board? Just... Why? Who let that go up?
Must have been a slow modding week.

I'm glad - your posts are valuable.

That sounds nice!

Kettlingur · 04/03/2021 12:33

I miss camembert.

My COVID-addled brain read this as mis-camembert and I thought of mischeesing. But don't call me brie.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/03/2021 12:33

I baked a nut cake recently using a recipe which was an adaptation of a lemon drizzle cake. Just replace 100g of flower with ground nuts (leftover from Christmas) and some chopped chocolate, and leave out the lemon. Added rum flavour, too - really good.

Ooh.

I've only just seen that thread - wow, interesting. Not very tolerant of women holding opinions which differ from theirs.

Well, that's a relief Smile

Time out for malt loaf seems like a good move.

ThePankhurstConnection · 04/03/2021 12:52

Can I also just say I am not a regular but every time I pop into this thread someone is talking about Weetabix - is there an advertising contract I am not aware of Hmm just stay away from the hot milk and banana.

It's proof, if any was needed, that we're not a hive mind.
MichelleofzeResistance · 04/03/2021 13:06

The Wookey Hole Goat - sounds like their mascot actually - sounds great! I shall look for it! I could do sheep cheese but have never yet found any in the wilds in which I reside. Oh for a city with a decent deli...

Definitely no miscamemberting, but I will look for the Parlick Fell too!

ArabellaScott · 04/03/2021 13:17

I've only recently discovered fruit cake/cheese as a thing.

Or as my mum used to say , an apple pie without the cheese ,is like a kiss without the squeeze...
