Remember lads, if you feel uncomfortable --hide it well to avoid upsetting the vulnerable, oppressed and scared Trans community.
Who will destroy you
This has to be tactical, if they concede the next target is Straight Men surely?
Over the last few years elements of the gender critical movement have attacked virtually every aspect of LGBT life. There's been attacks on drag queens and claims they shouldn't be around children, attacks on LGB inclusive education in schools, attacks on Pride, LGBT school clubs, Stonewall and a host of other LGBT organisations, pretty much the entire LGBT press and anyone who identifies as queer, which many LGB people have done for decades, is now accused of being straight really at best or smeared as being linked to some kind for paedophile plot. Well known, and well respected LGBT people from Peter Tatchell to Ruth Hunt to Owen Jones have been viciously and relentlessly smeared with sometimes horrifying insinuations, the rainbow flag has been compared to the Swastika, GC people have refused to listen to gender nonconforming LGB people about their concerns about increased hostility and in some cases some of you have stood side to side with some of the most vicious homophobes on the planet whilst the rest of you apologised for them or turned your back and remained silent. Lesbians have been viciously policed for their sexuality and interrogated by middle aged straight men like Lineham over their possible choice of sexual partners, whilst anyone who think of themselves as Pan, or anything else which doesn't fit the labels the GC movement seeks to impose is dismissed as a woke idiot. Did you think all these people and organisations who have been attacked don't have friends? That LGBT people don't talk about this? That people are happy to stand by and see there friends and lovers smeared as paedophiles or abusers or misogynists or even homophobes by a movement that is dominated by straight people? Even LGB people who are absolutely on the GC side have warned that elements of the movement are starting to feel hostile to lesbians and gay men but still the onslaught continues unabated.
And the thing is, especially amongst younger LGB people, trans people are their friends. You're telling people that their friend is erasing them, or trying to coerce them into sex when the vast majority of LGB people explicitly state this is not happening. Trans, Non-binary people, Queers, Lesbians, Gay men, Pansexuals, we hang out together and we've got each others backs. And if you look at the actual statistics then more young people are identifying as LGB than at any point in history so the repeated claims gays and lesbians are being erased or converted into trans is demonstrably incorrect.
There have always been conservative and assimilationist LGBT people, there have always been political lesbians, but they have been on the fringe of the movement and the attempts by largely straight people to centre them as the mainstream hasn't worked. The truth is many Lesbians and Gays don't like being called homosexuals, especially not by straight people, they want kids to have proper LGBT inclusive educations, they don't see trans people as a threat they see them as their friends and they recognise LGBT people are stonger united than divided no matter how much straight people try and create hostility within our communities. And many have heard much of this rhetoric before, and see the figures from the religious and far right lurking in the shadows, and are deeply worried that this is a movement that ultimately will also target them - as has been clearly admitted by the religious right that some GC people have been happy to work alongside.
So no, this isnt a trans plot. It's not because people are terrified as the awesome power of the trans. It's because the truth, as painful as it might be for a lot of GC people to hear, is that the gender critical movement is absolutely despised by vast majority of LGBT people no matter how much it tries to convince itself otherwise. And if you don't believe me look what just happened to Boyz. Look what happens every time there's a concerted attempt to divide LGBT people. All it does is make the solidarity we feel for each other stronger, because everyone, LGB or T recognises that when conservative forces come from one of us they will come for all of us eventually as now seems to becoming all too apparant.
