Looks like they're gunning for gay men now. Anything other than complete agreement is no good.

Readers here will be used to this sort of insanity:

I wonder if it will wake up those who have not seen it before?

You might be right there cara. My daughter’s female trans friends are all swapping copies of male on male ‘romance’ fiction. This is all they read.

CoffeeTeaChocolate · 27/11/2020 11:16

some equally high profile heterosexual male who doesn’t want his daughter to share a room with a male bodied individual

This will not end it I’m afraid. It is incredibly unlikely to happen. There are many of these high profile, influential alpha men with children in private, high status schools. They will rarely take no for an answer and this situation would almost never occur as the school and head realise how forceful and litigious they are.

In the unlikely event that anything would happen, they would call the chairman of the owner of the (private school) and have a discussion about it which inevitably would result in a back track. There would be no publicity and no greater good. Other children in the school are protected as the governors and headmasters are worried about the general influence of all parents. You never know how influential a particular parent is or who he/she knows. The parent of any trans child would not force a room sharing through as this would risk alienating a huge number of powerful men and women (and very likely their own business contacts).

At university, they would pay for private lodging for their children, or for them to share with other children from similar backgrounds.

The children who will suffer are not the privileged children. And their privilege will only protect other privileged children. I do not think this can be counted on.

So they've bullied Boyz into a grovelling apology. Now they've apologised, it's still not enough for the overgrown babies. I've seen someone calling for them to sack their Managing Editor and all will be forgiven Hmm

Reminds me of an abusive partner. Set you up to fail, when you fail they have you grovelling profusely to keep the peace. But they don't actually want an apology, they just wanted to see you squirming and humiliated, so they tell you your apology isn't enough because the 'damage' is already done. Then they're justified to keep on beating you until you learn your lesson.

And a poster here is actually proud and bragging that behaviour that mimics that of abusers is a ''community'' coming together? Wow.

Why the hell would the LGB alliance be funded by right wingers? The right wing hates gays.

WeeBisom · 27/11/2020 11:34

Further up the thread someone said that gay men aren’t getting pressure as much as lesbians, and I’ve seen that slowly start to change. On Reddit’s “ask gay men” a lot of trans men have started turning up and asking if gay men would sleep with them and... let’s just say the responses are far more blunt and rude than here ! But I’ve seen a few posters complain that the gender critical feminists have taken over the gay subreddits, and so they should be banned. Last year I also saw a gay club night get cancelled due to online pressure from trans activists (it was for males only). So I really do think gay men are the next frontier, so to speak, and the sights have been set on them now that lesbians have been thoroughly cowed.

As for all this talk of solidarity in the LGBT community... well, I was pretty shocked at the amount of disdain shown towards gay men at my local student group. The attitude was “gay men have ruled the LGBT for too long , we are not actively seeking applicants for president from gay cis men.” When each representative introduced themselves they had a dig about gay guys - the asexual rep said a lot of people were “put off” by attending events due to the large presence of gay men. So what’s happened, in my experience, is the gay men have gone underground and formed their own groups just like the lesbians. It’s really sad to see. Back in the mid noughties the LGBT society was filled with mostly gays and lesbians, and the odd bisexual. Now if you attend an event it’s overwhelmingly attended by “queer” people , trans people, and non binaries.

@lilmishap

Remember lads, if you feel uncomfortable --hide it well to avoid upsetting the vulnerable, oppressed and scared Trans community.

Who will destroy you

This has to be tactical, if they concede the next target is Straight Men surely?

Over the last few years elements of the gender critical movement have attacked virtually every aspect of LGBT life. There's been attacks on drag queens and claims they shouldn't be around children, attacks on LGB inclusive education in schools, attacks on Pride, LGBT school clubs, Stonewall and a host of other LGBT organisations, pretty much the entire LGBT press and anyone who identifies as queer, which many LGB people have done for decades, is now accused of being straight really at best or smeared as being linked to some kind for paedophile plot. Well known, and well respected LGBT people from Peter Tatchell to Ruth Hunt to Owen Jones have been viciously and relentlessly smeared with sometimes horrifying insinuations, the rainbow flag has been compared to the Swastika, GC people have refused to listen to gender nonconforming LGB people about their concerns about increased hostility and in some cases some of you have stood side to side with some of the most vicious homophobes on the planet whilst the rest of you apologised for them or turned your back and remained silent. Lesbians have been viciously policed for their sexuality and interrogated by middle aged straight men like Lineham over their possible choice of sexual partners, whilst anyone who think of themselves as Pan, or anything else which doesn't fit the labels the GC movement seeks to impose is dismissed as a woke idiot. Did you think all these people and organisations who have been attacked don't have friends? That LGBT people don't talk about this? That people are happy to stand by and see there friends and lovers smeared as paedophiles or abusers or misogynists or even homophobes by a movement that is dominated by straight people? Even LGB people who are absolutely on the GC side have warned that elements of the movement are starting to feel hostile to lesbians and gay men but still the onslaught continues unabated.

And the thing is, especially amongst younger LGB people, trans people are their friends. You're telling people that their friend is erasing them, or trying to coerce them into sex when the vast majority of LGB people explicitly state this is not happening. Trans, Non-binary people, Queers, Lesbians, Gay men, Pansexuals, we hang out together and we've got each others backs. And if you look at the actual statistics then more young people are identifying as LGB than at any point in history so the repeated claims gays and lesbians are being erased or converted into trans is demonstrably incorrect.

There have always been conservative and assimilationist LGBT people, there have always been political lesbians, but they have been on the fringe of the movement and the attempts by largely straight people to centre them as the mainstream hasn't worked. The truth is many Lesbians and Gays don't like being called homosexuals, especially not by straight people, they want kids to have proper LGBT inclusive educations, they don't see trans people as a threat they see them as their friends and they recognise LGBT people are stonger united than divided no matter how much straight people try and create hostility within our communities. And many have heard much of this rhetoric before, and see the figures from the religious and far right lurking in the shadows, and are deeply worried that this is a movement that ultimately will also target them - as has been clearly admitted by the religious right that some GC people have been happy to work alongside.

So no, this isnt a trans plot. It's not because people are terrified as the awesome power of the trans. It's because the truth, as painful as it might be for a lot of GC people to hear, is that the gender critical movement is absolutely despised by vast majority of LGBT people no matter how much it tries to convince itself otherwise. And if you don't believe me look what just happened to Boyz. Look what happens every time there's a concerted attempt to divide LGBT people. All it does is make the solidarity we feel for each other stronger, because everyone, LGB or T recognises that when conservative forces come from one of us they will come for all of us eventually as now seems to becoming all too apparant.

The "asexual rep" gatekeeping gay men out of the LGBTQ+. 🙄 I don't know why I'm even surprised any more.

littlbrowndog · 27/11/2020 11:41

Interesting wee bisom

To hear that gay guys have gone underground

OvaHere · 27/11/2020 11:44

Nobody needs to smear Tatchell. He's been quite open in his words about views on age of consent and sexual relationships with minors.

Gay men's magazine bullied into grovelling
Datun · 27/11/2020 11:46

Haha jj! More of the tedious finger wagging screeds?

Go tell it to datalounge. They're getting the right nark.

Stop erasing homosexuality.

yourhairiswinterfire · 27/11/2020 11:47

On Reddit’s “ask gay men” a lot of trans men have started turning up and asking if gay men would sleep with them and... let’s just say the responses are far more blunt and rude than here

I've seen this too. I don't frequent gay subreddits, but they've been linked to on other sites I'm on as a 'spot the difference in treatment' type thing.

Lesbian subreddits have to pretend that of course they love, and always have loved, penis and it's their most favourite thing in the world, else they're banned.

The men on the gay sub get away with being very 'fuck right off' if they're asked if they'd sleep with a transman. They're aware it's TRAs deliberately trying to get the sub in hot water, because it's the same posts over and over again.

But yes, the men are allowed to have their ''genital preference'' Hmm The women aren't.

MaudTheInvincible · 27/11/2020 12:09

Gosh, that was a long scroll-past I had to do!

Imagine being so pleased that you'd managed to make a gay magazine publicly grovel for absolutely zero reason. Imagine what kind of person would be proud of that.

NewlyGranny · 27/11/2020 12:17

Imagine calling Tatchell and Jones well-respected...

SophocIestheFox · 27/11/2020 12:19

Haha jj! More of the tedious finger wagging screeds?

That is JJs sole contribution to this board.

I’ve never seen a post in solidarity with women on any issue. Not once. Not on any topic- not abortion, porn, prostitution, street harassment, work issues, everyday sexism- not once.

There is no solidarity, only the eternally wagging finger.

DeaconBoo · 27/11/2020 12:21

It's shocking, moreso that it's so open.
Datun · 27/11/2020 12:25

There is no solidarity, only the eternally wagging finger.

It's an end in itself. Why do people like JJ and MBD give a single fuck if there is a group set up exclusively for lesbian and gay people or a magazine exclusively for gay men?

What on earth's it got to do with them?

And yet they're fuming over it.

The outrage against the exclusion is so strange to me. Lesbians and gay men are natural allies, but it’s long been accepted that lesbians can have their own spaces, bars, events, publications etc away from gay men. I never once saw anyone have a hissy fit because lesbians chose to do their own thing and have their own campaigns away from gay men. Some of their interests overlap, but also many do not. And as a bisexual woman I was always nonplussed when lesbians wanted to have lesbian only groups and exclude bisexuals. That is their prerogative. Why must the T inevitably be joined at the hip of the LGB if their interests do not align?

SophocIestheFox · 27/11/2020 12:38

Not totally off topic for the thread, prawn Grin
