By the way, I didn't like Object UK referring to that teenager's suicide in the way that they did, because I don't think anyone should speak about anyone's suicide in that way, particularly young vulnerable people.

Who exactly is funding the LGB Alliance?

Me! As an old lesbian feminist I was delighted when the LGB Alliance formed, and have been dipping into my tiny stack of widow's mites each month in support of a much appreciated initiative.

It breaks my heart that young lesbians have lost the wonderful women's spaces that welcomed me in the eighties and nineties, and that baby butches are being brainwashed into believing that their strong, beautiful bodies are wrong, and need to be messed around with binders, hormones and surgery.

So, even though I am disabled and on a very limited income, I am delighted to lend all the financial support I can afford to such an important cause.

Anyone saying that lesbians, gays and bisexual people should be forbidden from organising around their own special issues is homophobic and unworthy of my respect and consideration.

Also, wall of bollocks and and another prick in the wall? Please, for the love of all that is decent, show some consideration! Some of us are no longer in the first bloom of youth, and challenged in the urinary sphincter department. Will nobody think of the furniture!?!

If it’s not acceptable for LGB to have organisations that only represent them, and not the T, then why is it acceptable to have organisations (Mermaids, GIRES etc) that only represent the T and not the LGB? If the former is transphobic, how is the latter not homophobic? On what grounds can the separate provision be justified only for one sub group of an otherwise indivisible group, and utterly prohibited for another?

That apology made me very uncomfortable. And it still wasn’t enough? Troubling.

Am still wondering about this...are trans only organisations “seeking to divide”? If not, why not?

MBD, let's just clear all this up very quickly. What is your definition of a homosexual or lesbian? Is it based on sex or gender?

LGBA (and others), openly seek to divide the LGBT community, and yesterday they failed spectacularly.

Lol, Boyz were very happy enough to promote the ''homophobic'' LGBA in the first place mate. They only backed down because the pitchfork mob, otherwise known as a lovely ''community'' came for them and they lost their nerve. Even now, apologies aren't enough and they're calling for sackings.

I agree. Trans activists won't go after straight men. Because the most vitriolic of them ARE, er, female-attracted males.

I've just finished watching the webinar, it's taken a while as I've been dipping in and out.

It's really quite laughable how much outrage this caused because the four panelists are incredibly non offensive. Everything was couched in a very generous and kindly way, they respected pronouns and clearly want good outcomes for the trans community. All these men have a much higher tolerance for bullshit than most women could muster right now.

I have to wonder how many transitioners have a realistic idea of what life is going to be like. Do teenage girls claiming to be gay men watch any gay porn or in any way try to get a realistic idea of gay men's sexuality? It seems not.

I fear they form most of their beliefs about gay male sex from reading slash fanfiction on Tumblr and Archive of Our Own. The fact that this is largely male on male erotica written by straight women for an audience of straight women seems to have sailed over their heads (it's the female erotica equivalent of VHS classics with titles like "lipstick lesbians get it on while the plumber watches".)

Yes, I like a bit of slash myself but I've always seen it as a reflection of female sexuality rather than male. It seems to be the anime stuff that's turned people's heads.
