Bit like blackberrying, with added derailment, sealioning and general JAQ-ing off. I'll copy and paste the opening post of the last thread.

The useful Bunbury Guide to Spotting Community Disruptors is constantly evolving.

The best research and advice is not to engage with community disruptors and trolls. As ever, if you suspect troll activity, report it to MNHQ.

Remember there are people out there who would like to silence us by fair means or foul.

This is a continuation of the Public Service Announcement thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3944572-Bunburys-guide-to-community-disruptors-part-5?pg=40

If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging. AS is your friend.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted.. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we always have community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

Some helpful links can be found in the ‘Break it Down for me’ and ‘It never happens’ threads but in essence FermatsTheorem recommended “that in the absence of a block/hide poster button, I suggest the following strategy (given that you're talking to the lurkers).

Do not name check the sealion. Instead, respond to a depersonalised paraphrase:

"It is sometimes erroneously suggested that blah. Blah is wrong for the following reasons (short and pithy). If you need more information re. debunking blah, here's a link."

Then (this next step is important to combat derailment) go back up thread to the last useful contribution to the discussion, make sure you do name check that contributor, and pick up the discussion from that point.”

Go well Witches gin

yeah the fact the acronym can't be mentioned is very weird. Its a scientific debate. That does feel a bit like censorship (esp when juxtaposed with the trans widows threads)

CivilCervix · 17/09/2020 20:21

The acronym 'doesn't exist' is a mantra similar to the other well known acronym. Search Twitter. It's a campaign.

DannyGlickWindowTapping · 17/09/2020 20:26

I'm assuming that with all the things we can't say, both known and unknown, "trip trap" is on the list somewhere? I'm going to have to find the "hide" option on on my phone. At least the 2 totally random supporters turned up right on time, so that's nice.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/09/2020 20:39

My aubergine vegan cheese substitute recipe today did not work out.

Did you seriously expect it to? There are many fine things to do with an aubergine that don't try to pretend it's something it's not.

(And having just re-read that... I honestly had no double entendre in mind.)

MichelleofzeResistance · 17/09/2020 20:44

Well I hoped, Errol

Anything vaguely like cheese would be good, I miss cheese having become severely allergic to it, even to the point of being willing to mess around with aubergines.

This is bringing back dire memories of a really bad short story I read once that involved persimmons. I couldn't see the word for years without laughing.

ArabellaScott · 17/09/2020 20:46

A cheese allergy? How absolutely awful. Sad

ErrolTheDragon · 17/09/2020 20:52

I came across a recipe for 'vegan mozzarella' which iirc involved cashew nuts and aquafaba which sounded vaguely plausible. More likely than aubergine, anyway.

Mammatino · 17/09/2020 21:00

Aquafaba? I don’t know what that is, I just know it’s some kinda faba! The other thread is being mocked all over Twitter. I fancy a crunchie as it’s almost Friday.

DialSquare · 17/09/2020 21:03

Thread gone now. I had a crunchie earlier. Could eat another one though.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/09/2020 21:05

Aquafaba is the liquid from a can of chickpeas. I feel vaguely guilty every time I drain a can, but I'm not sufficiently convinced to try using it (I'm not vegan and have no shortage of eggs)

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquafaba

ErrolTheDragon · 17/09/2020 21:07

Kind of hard to maintain a thread is fine once it's been declared to be trolling on twitter.

fatblackcatspaw · 17/09/2020 21:09

3 letter acronym? oh dear the inner sanctum of mumsnet... now a thread I posted on in the last hour has .. DISAPPEARED! is this the Bermuda Trans Triangle?

MichelleofzeResistance · 17/09/2020 21:18

What was the deletion message?

fatblackcatspaw · 17/09/2020 21:22

@MichelleofzeResistance

What was the deletion message?
no deletion message....

MichelleofzeResistance · 17/09/2020 21:26

Interesting. Thank you.

ArabellaScott · 17/09/2020 21:33

I made meringue from aquafaba once. They looked beautiful, but the kids said they tasted like 'horses', and tbh they were right.

CaraDuneRedux · 17/09/2020 21:34

I've got quite a good aquafaba chocolate cake recipe, but it's bloomin' sweet - needs good sharp raspberries with it to cut through it a bit. And whisking aquafaba is a bastard, takes forever.

Mammatino · 17/09/2020 21:39

I HAVE chickpeas, I am going to be draining them up and adding them to stuff. No Crunchie though, so I’m just going to have rice crispies and make sad faces at the empty chocolate cupboard. I wonder if my last crunchie went the way of the disappearing threads?

midgebabe · 17/09/2020 21:41

Last crunchie....ah.....I thought we shared on here

QuentinWinters · 17/09/2020 21:54

I got a deletion message, assuming same thread. The "peace" one?

MichelleofzeResistance · 17/09/2020 21:57

Thanks Quentin

Redshoeblueshoe · 17/09/2020 22:20

I'm pissed off. I reported that thread before 7pm. I said they were not posting in good faith. But the response was we don't think they are a troll or a PBP.

I got a deletion message, assuming same thread. The "peace" one?
yes wonder why I didn't get a message... owning up to being a rad fem?
CaraDuneRedux · 17/09/2020 22:26

I think if you've hidden the thread, you end up hiding the deletion message too.
