Would you take part in a mass naked lie down demo to highlight the erasure of women's rights?

There's a small rumble on Twitter suggesting this as a way of women showing our vulnerability and refusal to be pushed aside. And a shock tactic obviously. Would you take part?

@AvocadoBathroom

This is a joke right? I tell you what I'd be prepared to do. Write a banner in my period blood.
@AvocadoBathroom I salute you Grin

How come when men protest oppression and exploitation, they show up fully clothed and even armoured and with weapons and provisions to keep themselves safe and defended, but women's protests are suggested to be naked or lying down? As a rule, if men aren't doing it, and if it's something that men already like women doing, it's probably not in our best interest.

Where’s Willy?

I'm with @AvocadoBathroom. Use a mooncup now, so it's easy to collect the blood. Next period due in about two weeks, shall I start collecting? Grin

Good point Suffrajester.

No. I think there’s something weird about naked protests especially about women’s rights issues. It’s like “I’m going to fight the patriarchy by giving men exactly what they want!” Maybe it’s wrong of me but I thought that naked protestor in Portland was not “brave” but actually a bit narcissistic - it was like she was trying to detract attention from the issue at hand and refocus it on herself.

@KarenKarendson

Why the hell should we get naked to be listened to? Our rights are enshrined in law. We don't have to take our clothes of in order for our legal rights to be applied. No fucking way. This is insulting.
This.

There is a thread about Naked Portland Woman. It is not wrong of you; several of us share your views on her.

I think this would do as much for women's rights as when the Sun started putting little 'intelligent quotes' next to the page 3 girls.

Will trans women be welcome to strip off for the menz too?

Unless the quote was ‘I have an MBA and earn £100k a year doing this so that I can save enough to set up my own consultancy firm’...

Now I don't think that would appeal to the menz fantasies!

SerenityNowwwww · 05/08/2020 11:54

You think the mez read the copy below ‘blonde busty Betty, 17...”?

IAmFleshIAmBone · 05/08/2020 12:00

They don't? Well, I am shocked.

When I worked in a pub, the papers got delivered before the customers came in, and I used to scribble over the boobs so the dirty old buggers couldn't leer over them. Angry

SerenityNowwwww · 05/08/2020 14:02

Hahahahaha! They do that in Saudi magazines and packaging done they (well over the whole women)?

Suffrajester · 05/08/2020 14:53

About a year ago, I saw a bloke in the canteen at work with his newspaper open at page 3. To give him the benefit of the doubt, I think he genuinely didn't realise how it looked and was just so used to getting a side of sexualised bare breasts with his news that he didn't think.
So of course I loomed over him and crowed "Aaaaahahahahaha this boy brung his titty mags to work!!" and he hurriedly flipped it shut and kept his head down and ate his lunch in shame while we all laughed at him for being a porn saddo. I'm not usually a fan of public shaming as a way to change behaviour but when it's for a good reason it works!
