Would you take part in a mass naked lie down demo to highlight the erasure of women's rights?

There's a small rumble on Twitter suggesting this as a way of women showing our vulnerability and refusal to be pushed aside. And a shock tactic obviously. Would you take part?

Given the traction that CNN tweet is having on twitter (I’ve seen it coming up in unusual twitter communities) could there not be some campaign to highlight every instance where language has been amended to erase women?

We know it’s not just CNN.

DuDuDuLangaLangaBingBong · 02/08/2020 15:18

Nope.

ItsLateHumpty · 02/08/2020 15:41

Maybe transwomen could go first 🤷‍♀️

Me, I’d keep my kit on thanks.

PhoebeSnow · 02/08/2020 15:45

No it’s a weird thing to do to be honest.

Wolfgirrl · 02/08/2020 15:49

Yes.

We need to get back to seeing real female bodies. How they differ from men's, from our hips to our hands & feet. How they're not something to be ashamed of, or covered up even when men stroll down the road in just a pair of shorts and flip flops. We need to show our natural boobs. We need to make it bloody obvious that our bodies are incredible things that fulfil many functions and cannot be replicated with silicone, padded bras or high heels. You can see the true difference between women and men when they are unclothed.

And why shouldn't we? Because we feel shame? Letchy men? It will make transwomen feel bad?

Fuck that. I would take part if the motive was right.

SpeedofaSloth · 02/08/2020 15:51

No.

Bluntness100 · 02/08/2020 15:55

Every body we see is “real“ for gods sake. And there are plenty of ways to see “real bodies” from beaches to tv programs, to swimming pools to even bloody readers porn. Any google on line shows natural bodies as much as it shows enhanced ones.

We all know what “real” bodies look like. We don’t need to get our kits off again as some weird protest. And for every man walking down the street in just flip flops and shorts is a woman in flip flops and a vest top. Of all ages and sizes.

Getting your tits out proves nothing.

squeekums · 02/08/2020 15:55

Not a chance in hell

ChaToilLeam · 02/08/2020 16:04

It’s also absolutely counterproductive because women who would participate in another form of protest will not do this. We need an Iceland-style mass walkout.

There is nothing empowering about getting your tits out in a culture which expects this of women as a matter of course.

unwashedanddazed · 02/08/2020 16:09

Nope

JellyFishSquish · 02/08/2020 16:13

suggesting this as a way of women showing our vulnerability

Suggested by men, one assumes. Hell no.

SerenityNowwwww · 02/08/2020 16:14

In my case it would be “behave yourself or I shall be marching around like this and you will never sleep or eat well again...”

Ereshkigalangcleg · 02/08/2020 16:14

No. Who suggested this?

nasiisthebest · 02/08/2020 16:16

Wouldn't it be far more effective, and protected, to start a new political party that protects women, womens characteristics and womens rights?

Muttonindistress · 02/08/2020 16:21

Well, I think that’s a no from us then. I’d be up for a protest wearing an adult, human, female t -shirt with a good sturdy bra underneath.

BatShite · 02/08/2020 16:25

Not a chance!

Antibles · 02/08/2020 17:17

No way.

Who suggested this? Hmm

Far better to unionise and go on strike in some way. Sex strike perhaps. The polar opposite of getting my bits out for the lot of them.

Campervan69 · 02/08/2020 17:26

No.

FlorenceFlounce · 02/08/2020 17:28

Clearly someone laughing behind their hand at silly wimmin must have been behind this suggestion Hmm

MannymanMunroe · 02/08/2020 17:49

No for all the reasons given.

I am very in favour of an en masse downing of tools. Women could stage a sit in in their town centres or march.

There needs to be some unifying symbol, though, otherwise how will the morons in the popular press know to cover it as a coordinated protest? Hmm

It also needs to be distinguished from the Women's March, that stupidly accepted being dictated to by men. And it needs to be free from hi-jack by the TWAW crowd. A unifying colour + The Adult Human Female definition could work as a powerful symbol (as a sea of pink pussy hats once did pre-hijacking).

MsSafina · 02/08/2020 18:52

Are mass demos allowed right now and why provide titillating views of women? Unlikely to gain any support from sensible people. Just another example of far left idiocy.

MsSafina · 02/08/2020 18:57

I am very much in favour of en masse downing of tools
I sometimes wonder what would happen if men decided to down tools. I have never seen any women working outside in the street on road repair or bin collections. None of the people who come to my house to repair boilers, do plumbing, electricity or building work are female. Be careful what you wish for.

Dances · 02/08/2020 20:44

What The Fuck?

That some women think that they most effective way to get their point across is taking their clothes off is simply depressing.

How about using words and arguments?

Tits out for the Lads on Steroids. Except the women are suggesting it. WTF

MaybeDoctor · 02/08/2020 21:14

Um, when I read the OP I thought 'perhaps' and was hoping to bagsy the nice clean white line in the middle of the road rather than the gutter....then I read the rest of the responses and slunk away, casting my flesh-coloured knickers and my mask in the nearest bin Blush!

Perhaps a silent, standing protest of women wearing identical tee-shirts? They could say: 'Woman. Adult human female. End discrimination against biological women.'

MaybeDoctor · 02/08/2020 21:15

Women never really down tools though, do they? Because if they do then children and vulnerable people suffer.
