Never posted on this board before, but nervous, but I’m furious.
Just bought some towels from Superdrug and the first line on the back of the packet is ‘A person who menstruates..’ I’m a woman ffs!
I shop in Superdrug all the time for their cruelty free stuff but no more!

It has an effect t on all women and girls.

Like when that woman lost her discrimination case cos men breast feed now too Hmm

Melroses · 18/06/2020 17:58

What is wrong with "women and trans men"?

It would make more sense since they make up the smaller part of the population who are ever likely to menstruate. Otherwise there would be a lot of people going around thinking "WTF is menstruate?"

You may have to add on "and some non binaries" which could get a bit wordy.

However, they could always use the "umbrella term" of "women"

littlbrowndog · 18/06/2020 17:59

You are rude. You called me a wetwipe.

Your friend can identify as what they like

But I will not as a woman be erased neither will my daughter

It has an impact on all women’s and girls lives

Stop erasing us out of all language

Thisismytimetoshine · 18/06/2020 17:59

@LST

I am not rude. When you actually have to support someone close to you through this and try and grasp that there are people out there telling them, even though if has no impact on their life whatsoever that they cannot choose to be identified how they like. Then you can come back to me and tell me I am rude.
You can't force someone else to redefine themselves to suit you.
Swapname · 18/06/2020 18:01

How is this a feminist issue btw? Given the women here believe trans men are women, and feminism is about supporting women, why are so many keen to put trans men back in their box with no regard?

littlbrowndog · 18/06/2020 18:02

What box are you talking about ?

titchy · 18/06/2020 18:02

Why does everything have to revolve around what’s between your legs?

I think you'll find the design and efficiency of sanitary towels would be utterly useless if they weren't based around what's between your legs. Hmm

Your comment is a bit like telling a shoe manufacturer off for being obsessed with foot shape.

Thisismytimetoshine · 18/06/2020 18:03

Wanting the word woman on sanitary protection packaging is not an attempt to put anyone in their box.
Removing it, on the other hand...

CuriousaboutSamphire · 18/06/2020 18:04

LST that's the ludicrous lie though, isn't it?

Anyone can identify as they choose. If they are lucky and have nice friends and family most people they meet will accommodate their chosen persona.

But that support won't change basic biology, ever!

We all make life choices. Some set us outside the norm. We have 2 choices: embrace that difference or fight it.

Embracing Trans Identity would make more sense that trying to rewrite biology.

SarahTancredi · 18/06/2020 18:05

Gender is the box. The restrictive box that tell people that theres a wrong and right way to he a man and woman. Using harmful stereotypes

Woman is a sex category. So is man. And the single "entry requirement " is being born one.

littlbrowndog · 18/06/2020 18:05

Omg please don’t say that bad word “woman. “

Ffs what next 😝😝

LST · 18/06/2020 18:05

You're all completely laughable! I hope that your children don't need you to get them through any identity issues that's for sure. Poor kids.

midgebabe · 18/06/2020 18:05

It is not putting transmen in a box.

It's being biologically correct and hoping beyond hope that they can recognise that their sex remains female even if they have a strong male gender identity . Surely they , of all people p, can understand that your sex does not determine your gender

CountFosco · 18/06/2020 18:05

I think we all need to write to superdrug.com as requested on the packet photographed by the OP.

Mumoblue · 18/06/2020 18:06

@NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace I'm not telling you what to say, I'm suggesting a better wording for a brand that clearly wants to include people who believe in gender (which I personally do not).

@Melroses
Yeah I think they're saying that as an attempt to be the most inclusive. But even when I believed in gender and was questioning mine, "person who menstruates" never felt comfortable for me. It's just defining us by a biological function in an attempt to apparently not do that. It makes no sense.

viques · 18/06/2020 18:07

I wonder if condom manufacturers are under as much pressure to make sure that their product packaging doesn't accidentally use language that upsets men who would prefer to pretend that their penises don't exist.

littlbrowndog · 18/06/2020 18:08

You do you LST And help your friend

But that does not mean at any point the erasure of women and girls so that we the women and girls are now just people

littlbrowndog · 18/06/2020 18:09

It’s all utter and complete nonsense

CaraDune · 18/06/2020 18:11

I'll believe this isn't rampant, raging misogyny when superdrug label all their male shaving products, aftershave, etc. "for ejaculators".

"Gilette: the best an ejaculator can get."

Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, does it/

Kit19 · 18/06/2020 18:11

Astonishingly Viques I doubt it!

Amazingly TRA dont make demands of men. It’s almost as if they know men wouldn’t put up with their BS & wails to “be kiiiiiind”. Almost as if they know which sex gets guilted into being the ones to budge up & make room to keep men happy....

SuckingDieselFella · 18/06/2020 18:14

Madness, madness, they call it madness...

MrsPeacockInTheLibrary · 18/06/2020 18:16

Has anyone seen their products aimed at men and if they use the same language?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 18/06/2020 18:16

Happy to give you a giggle, LST. But that won't change the fact that I do not, ever, refuse to acknowledge trans identity. Far from it, having just been asked to stand for a transwoman at her civil ceremony.

But, whilst she lives as she nobody is under any misapprehension that she was born male. Least of all her, himself. And he has a GRA, has had for about 15 years!!

Laugh away...

littlbrowndog · 18/06/2020 18:16

Yep after I might get offended by this use of the word man on a razor advert

After all I might want to use a razor.

Actually I feel offence coming right on

SarahTancredi · 18/06/2020 18:17

Almost as if they know which sex gets guilted into being the ones to budge up & make room to keep men happy

Course occasionally they will give the credit to a trans man to try and prove otherwise . Kinda undone though by say the likes of Always when thousands if women complained about the scented pads giving them rashes/reactions and the fact that the labelling was so rubbish the lads were always bought by accident. And when they sold shitty pads to women and girls on Africa cos clearly they arent deserving of the same quality Hmm And nothing . It's perfectly fine to ignore those women. Then they remove the venus symbol cos a transman complained akd they didnt want to fave the wrath of the tras.
