Never posted on this board before, but nervous, but I’m furious.
Just bought some towels from Superdrug and the first line on the back of the packet is ‘A person who menstruates..’ I’m a woman ffs!
I shop in Superdrug all the time for their cruelty free stuff but no more!

You didnt mention a 13 year old girl.

You were talking about the person having issues that they are a woman.

That's on them to tey and fix their issues not get everyone to pretend they are right so it doesnt upset them.

People dont die in menstruation huts. Women and girls do.

People arent missing school due to period shaming and/or period poverty, girls do.

It's a useful way of being able to pretend something isnt a problem when you erase the victims out of their own suffering instead of being able to identify who its actually happening to.

@FurbabyLife

I’d much rather be referred to as a person than a woman. Then everyone is equal. Why does everything have to revolve around what’s between your legs?

Oh for Christ's sake! Not Superdrug as well. I am getting sick to death of this shite. I'm already boycotting The Body Shop because if this. There will be nowhere left on the high street to buy toiletries at this rate Angry

FurbabyLife · 18/06/2020 17:44

I think you’re all ignorant and have too much time on your hands to be honest!

Thisismytimetoshine · 18/06/2020 17:44

Define ignorant.

DandyMandy · 18/06/2020 17:45

Unbelievable but not really at the same time. So if I started identifying as a man didn't this second (never gonna happen because no thanks, but for talks sake) my period would suddenly stop arriving every month, right? Because I'd love it if I didn't have to deal with hormonal acne every month!

LST · 18/06/2020 17:45

@Sarah correct I didn't mention a 13 year old 'girl'. Because that 'girl' doesn't want to be a girl. You have just proved my point beautifully. Thank you

When it’s tampons it’s kind of does revolve around what’s between your legs doesn’t it?

If women were asking for the words ‘women’ and ‘girls’ to be removed because they felt that their in some way demeaned them, that’s one argument.

When men and women demand they are erased in case they hurt the feelings of a female bodied person who would rather be seen as a man (and doesn’t wish to be reminded that they are biologically female) or a male bodied person who wishes they had the plumbing to have a period, then that’s just pandering nonsense.

You reckon? Confused

SarahTancredi · 18/06/2020 17:47

But she is a girl. Her life wont be any better pretending shes not.

And if we cant define a problem and who it affects we cant solve it.

LST · 18/06/2020 17:50

Wow the ignorance is astonishing. They can choose to be whatever they wish to be. Support helps. Having the word person instead of woman could help them. But nooooo that offends to many wetwipes on mumsnet.

They could have a sex change at 18 and then they won't need to be told what they are by ignorant strangers.

LST · 18/06/2020 17:51

Bless you @this.. are you a tad confused?

littlbrowndog · 18/06/2020 17:51

It’s language it matters

They are trying to make this normal so tha5 in future young girls will think it’s normal that they have no name for themselves

We will just be defined by the word people

Men and boys will still be men and boys

We will just be people

Thisismytimetoshine · 18/06/2020 17:52

Not remotely. You might be if you truly believe "they can choose to be whatever they wish to be".

littlbrowndog · 18/06/2020 17:52

It offends me lst. Offends me a lot

littlbrowndog · 18/06/2020 17:54

And am not a wetwipe either.

You are so rude with no decent argument

Who has periods ?

SarahTancredi · 18/06/2020 17:54

Support? Since when is lying to people support.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 18/06/2020 17:54

Odd isn't it?

All Lives Matter is a racist response to Black Lives Matter

But Menstruating People's Lives Matter is not a misogynist response to Women's Lives Matter.

If you can unravel that sensibly I'm here, listening...

LST · 18/06/2020 17:56

I am not rude. When you actually have to support someone close to you through this and try and grasp that there are people out there telling them, even though if has no impact on their life whatsoever that they cannot choose to be identified how they like. Then you can come back to me and tell me I am rude.

littlbrowndog · 18/06/2020 17:56

Women and girls being erased to please who ?

We are now just people. A subset of who the fuck knows. Martians. Aliens 👽

Mumoblue · 18/06/2020 17:57

@FurbabyLife
Calling me a person who menstruates is by itself making everything about what's between my legs. Not even from a gender perspective, it's still dehumanizing.

formyboys · 18/06/2020 17:57

Last time I ever shop at Superdrug.

MrsPeacockInTheLibrary · 18/06/2020 17:57

Where is it possible to email or contact them, please?

LST · 18/06/2020 17:57

It isn't lying. I am a person. A person that bleeds.

Lottapianos · 18/06/2020 17:57

Anyone who sheds uterine lining and blood through their vagina is a woman, or a girl. Its that simple. Biologically speaking, it's one of the most female things you can do. I feel like I'm explaining that the sky is blue - its blindingly obvious, everybody knows it and absolutely no one used to question it because we all know that its TRUE
