Never posted on this board before, but nervous, but I’m furious.
Just bought some towels from Superdrug and the first line on the back of the packet is ‘A person who menstruates..’ I’m a woman ffs!
I shop in Superdrug all the time for their cruelty free stuff but no more!

Exactly, I'm not erased out of existence because we're becoming more inclusive

"Inclusive" of what or who, exactly?

Only females menstruate. There are zero exceptions to that rule. Pretending otherwise isn't being 'inclusive', it's indulging in a distortion of reality.

Thisismytimetoshine · 18/06/2020 20:39
@stackthecats you have no idea what you are talking about and you sound foolish.
Haha! Pot and kettle 🤣. You poor thing...

midgebabe · 18/06/2020 20:39

Just because you don't feel erased, I am going to make the assumption that your sense of women is something more akin to a gender identity of woman ..sex and gender aligned ?

The people being erased are those biological females who don't gender identify as women. Who abhor gender boxes and have spent their lives breaking down gender barriers

FlamingoAndJohn · 18/06/2020 20:39
@FlamingoAndJohn maybe they had a word count limit?
Then they could have done away with all that horse shit about the moon. Of you are going to be inclusive then be inclusive.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 18/06/2020 20:40

The myth of gravity.

The myth that ice is cold.

The myth that anyone other than a small core of very odd sexists actually believes this gender bollocks.

(Spot the actual myth)

stackthecats · 18/06/2020 20:40

yakkad -- where am I wrong, dear? I have doctorate in psychology, do tell me.

stoned got the word wrong. It isn't Dysmorphia, its dysphoria. Dysmorphia has a different meaning. But a very telling one. Do you know anything about BDD?

Eo91 · 18/06/2020 20:40

@yakkad

I'd have disagree to with you. There's making compromises to be kind and then there's censorship of language.

I'm trans and I'm painfully aware that I'm biologically female. I can use whatever language I need to keep myself as comfortable as possible but I can't enforce other people's language.

The term 'person who mentruates' lumps us all together by a biological function rather actually acknowledging us as people.

I'd be pissed if people tried to remove the term transman - it identifies me as what I am an adult human female with gender dysphoria.

Women are allowed to be angry that some brands think it's better to just replace the the word Woman with a bland term that amalgamates us all together without actually recognising any of us.

yakkad · 18/06/2020 20:40

@midgebabe no it isn't and your GCSE level Science doesn't qualify you to talk like an expert on a subject that's actually complex.

yakkad · 18/06/2020 20:41

I'm genuinely shocked by the ignorance and transphobia on this board.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 18/06/2020 20:42

Inclusive" of what or who, exactly?

Really?
Starting to think you must be being obtuse on purpose - what is the thread about, again, what have we been talking about on this thread?
I just.... OK.

justanotherneighinparadise · 18/06/2020 20:42

I am happy with the erasure of the term women as long as we erase men on all products as well. Fair’s fair and all that.

SarahTancredi · 18/06/2020 20:42

Please report the transphobia.

Biology isnt bigotry.

JellyFishSquish · 18/06/2020 20:42

Winederlust
I don't get why trans people are allowed to get so worked up about a word on a product that the company feels forced to change it, but women are unreasonable if they take issue with 'just a word on a packet'.

This. And all PP who say "why do you care? Just be kind!" do not care about women, are not kind to women, tell us to fucking work on our people skills. "It's just inclusive language". Well, it is language which excludes "women". So inclusive for some. The irony.

stackthecats · 18/06/2020 20:42

Tell me yakkad -- what's the difference between BDD and "gender dysphoria"?

How many people have you treated with BDD?

I'm waiting Grin

Thisismytimetoshine · 18/06/2020 20:43

a subject that's actually complex.
It appears to be too complex for you, that's for sure.

FlamingoAndJohn · 18/06/2020 20:43

Please report any transphobia.

I just.... OK

Yes really.

No male person has ever menstruated and none ever will.

Only women menstruate. It's really very simple.

What is there to be 'inclusive' about? You still haven't answered my question.

Eo91 · 18/06/2020 20:46

@JustJayne69

It does, it just takes a while, for some it stops really early on, for others it can take over a year - if you're in the latter group it can be quite distressing because the physical changes are starting to take place and some dysphoria may be being relieved but you still get a very sudden crash to earth when biological reality hits each month :/

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 18/06/2020 20:47

I'm genuinely shocked that people are still trying performative outrage as a silencing technique after it's been proven that it doesn't work.

Walkingtheplank · 18/06/2020 20:47

Thank you for pointing this out. Another 1 to cross off the list. That's quite a few brands and shops but happy not to fund these companies.

Thisismytimetoshine · 18/06/2020 20:48

@LemonadeAndDaisyChains

I just.... OK.

Take the time to garner a coherent arguement, why don't you?
Shiteing on like this whilst calling people obtuse is not doing you any favours. Your earlier response to me was bizarre, to say the least.
yakkad · 18/06/2020 20:49

@Eo91 I'm a cis female and I don't feel erased by the term person/people. I am a person and I menstruate.

FlamingoAndJohn · 18/06/2020 20:49

@Eo91.

As a transman what would you prefer to see on the packaging?

RufustheRowlingReindeer · 18/06/2020 20:51

I would be very interested in hearing where stackthecat got it wrong as it certainly made sense to me

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 18/06/2020 20:51

No male person has ever menstruated and none ever will

Nobody on this thread has said otherwise! No, biological men don't menstruate.
'Cos, science.
Trans men do though (ie, biological women transitioning to male) (no, acknowledging that doesn't mean I think they biologically change)
