Mermaids' faux sympathy at the start of their letter makes me angry. As though they are only sympathizing with her because whilst she experienced some instances of abuse, they know trans people have it worse and they are being generous by recognising she may have possibly had a bit of a sad time in her life.

Me too, and yes.

ArcheryAnnie · 15/06/2020 16:14

No I haven't assumed that.

Yes, you did. With me.

If I am to assume you are a cis woman, You have no right to speak for anyone in the LGBTQ+ community especially not trans people as you haven't walked the walk.

That's what you said to me.

Ava, you are making all sorts of assumptions all over the place. You are taking fiction as fact. You are repeating all sorts of slander without evidence. Have you, by any chance, been working for Mermaids? You'd fit right in there.

Yes, this forum is for men and women, and you don’t even need to be a parent.

Shocker I know 🙄

If anyone wants to see a response to Mermaids (and JKR) coming from a different point of view, have a read of this:

www.bayswatersupport.org.uk/j-k-rowling

It’s a bit long but gives a look at how we came to be where we are.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 15/06/2020 16:19

I have no idea why you deleted me mumsnet. I did not break talk guidelines. HmmConfused

Yep, can’t quote a deleted post. MN are all over this. Swiss cheese already.

Way to shut down a thread. 🤔

Getting back on track. Thanks for posting this, I'll have a read.

Crikey. We are attracting a lot of attention after the government decided that we're right.

tabulahrasa · 15/06/2020 16:32

@SirVixofVixHall

They want to give the impression that that there would be no males in female spaces, as they call transwomen female. Also that male transpeople are not a danger to women. When almost half of the transwomen in prison are sex offenders. (That is the ones we know of, the ones with a GRC may simply be recorded as women.)
I’m aware...

What I mean though is, I have no issue with who is using toilets as toilets - just going about their day.

So while I do understand other people have different views on that.. and I do understand why, that’s not something I’m particularly concerned about.

It is though IMO an issue if wider access also makes it easier for sexual predators to have easier access to victims.

How is it nothing to do with trans people, if they’d also now be sharing toilets with the sexual predators trying to get access to victims?

You’d think, it would be a shared concern...

AvaMonroe · 15/06/2020 16:34

Where do you all I've that there are so many lurking sexual predators?

LastRoloIsMine · 15/06/2020 16:37

Not sure there is a specific area.
The majority of sexual predators are male so where ever males are I suppose. Obviously that's not all males but seen as they don't wear a "i am a serial predator" sign we have no idea who is or isn't. So we put things in place yo reduce risk.

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 15/06/2020 16:37

Absolutely.

The use of offensive language is deliberate to illicit a response that can be used as evidence of unpleasant behaviour from women.

Of course, it won’t work, simply because we’re not unpleasant or unkind or any other name you may call us. We are just correct.

It won’t be long before you sock puppet your own responses and use that anyway.

We still won’t back down.

Where do you live that it’s not something you have to ever worry about?...
Datun · 15/06/2020 16:39

AvaMonroe

Where do you live that you're not aware?

The MeToo campaign ran to 11,000,000 posts in under 24 hours.

20% of women will be sexually assaulted/raped during their life.

There is not a woman alive who hasn't been either grouped, cat called, ordered to smile, or witnessed male dominant behaviour.

It's unsurprising that you wouldn't know that, though.

Datun · 15/06/2020 16:40

groped !

Why do we have to educate you?

This board is full of legitimate stats, read, you may just learn something.

FloralBunting · 15/06/2020 16:42

Where there are men. It's been quite a thing for the past few millennia here on planet earth.

I mean, belittling the idea of being wary of sexual predation. Much empathy, so feminine.

AvaMonroe · 15/06/2020 16:42

I am female, the way the world is going now gender specific bathrooms will probably be a thing of the past. I agree with having cubicles and not urinals but I really don't see this thing of a sexual predator having access to hurt people as a given the way a lot seem to. 99% of people just want to pee and get on with their day, It is our job as humans to fight off these predators together if and when these situations occur, Maybe there could be a rule where there can't just be two people in a bathroom? as either or could turn on the other, Let's not forget there are female predators too.
titchy · 15/06/2020 16:43

Or girl. It starts going Sad

Ava and any other TW - ask your female (biologically female) friends and family about it. I guarantee they'll all have experienced something in Datun's post.
