Without meaning to sound like Nikki on Big Brother Grin who even is Aiden Comerford? I’ve literally only come across him as a spiteful TRA misogynist on Twitter (where his profile just gives a link to a self-published ebook?) why does anyone care what he says/thinks, who actually is he, why does seem to think he has any kind of power or influence?

I’m most disappointed, although not especially surprised, by George Takei this evening. But then Buck Angel has stood up and disagreed with him, good ole Tranpa!

(Buck calls himself Tranpa, before anyone piles on).

Wow I will be so so impressed with Tom Felton if he has. He will get a lot of hate.

Enderthedragon · 12/06/2020 20:26

Did people see Lin Manuel Miranda getting told off the other day because he said 'non-binary people are valid' Shock when of course what he should have said was 'non-binary people are non-binary'

It made me Grin

Emma Kennedy was saying some supportive stuff yesterday on twitter. I can't find it now of course.

@deepwatersolo

I‘m dismayed about Glenn Greenwald. He has supported Navratilova in the past, when she questioned the fairness transwomen in women‘a sports. But now it‘s just ‚Rowling playing victim‘ and ‚I wonder why Britain is to exceptionally transphobic in its discourse....‘ Very disappointing.

(I happen to be very critical of much of Rowling‘s politics and admire GG‘s critical analyses. But in this instance GG is plainly irrational.)

I was shocked by what GG wrote. To say JK revealing a lot of her personal issues is 'narcissism' is vile.

He was being thoroughly taken to task though by his caricature of British politics. What a plum. It was like something a fifteen year old might have written.

Enderthedragon · 12/06/2020 20:28

Sorry he said 'non-binary people are themselves' - even worse apparently!

borntohula · 12/06/2020 20:34

I thought Ricky Gervais had, last year?

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 12/06/2020 20:35

I saw the Witch finder generals list of “wrong thinkers” and it made me feel physically sick. How he spoke to Alison Moyet was completely disgusting and his casual misogynistic “past it” comments are horrific.

To add to this list:
Gary Lineker
Nicola Adams
Basically anyone involved in sport

MujeresLibres · 12/06/2020 20:37

The Conservative MP Ben Bradley has tweeted in support of JK Rowling.

What I’m really hoping might be going on is a HUGE swathe of personal messages of support to her from lots and lots of celebs who may one day publicly support her. We must respect that it is career suicide for many and a burden of guilt shouldn’t be laid at their door.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 12/06/2020 20:37

He back pedalled. He was tweeting a lot about Jessica/Jonathan Yaniv, but when pushed he parroted the TWAW line. He does support Blair White though, who is a transwoman who is entirely sane about the whole thing, which is something.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 12/06/2020 20:38

Oh this thread moves fast! My last was referring to Ricky Gervais.

AllTheUsernames

Jameela was told yesterday by Paris Lee that her approach might be do more harm than good in the long run.Someone should to tell Aidan Comerford the same.

No one is going to be able tell a man what to do though. Especially one who hates women and gets to publicly abuse them while still claiming the moral high ground. He’ll be the last to fall.

1066vegan · 12/06/2020 20:59

Some really nice people on this list, but Julia Hartley-Brewer is vile. If I was JKR (or anyone suffering public shaming or online abuse) I wouldn't want her support.

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 12/06/2020 21:01

1066 vegan

I get your point but she is still a female who will have experienced female oppression and misogyny. She still deserves a voice.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 12/06/2020 21:03

1066 I don't like Julia H-B but I actually think it's vital that we don't categorise people into 'someone who's opinion is valid' and 'someone who's opinion isn't valid'. It's a purity spiral, and it's unhelpful. The key thing about this topic is that, actually, the overwhelming majority of the human race do agree that there are only two sexes and that human beings can't change sex, because that it an unalterable material fact. It shouldn't be a case of 'good people think this'.

Tom Felton liked a JKR post back in May. Nothing since so I don't think he can be counted.

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/06/2020 21:10

God I love Emily Maitlis!

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 12/06/2020 21:17

He did Bore but it’s gone now

Argh sorry I meant he did like her “fucking yes” tweet but the like has gone now

NChat · 12/06/2020 21:21

BoreOfWhabylon
He (Tom Felton) also liked JK's "One of my best mates just called me." Tweet, I think it was up for about a day, but since unliked. Maybe a middle age moment?!
