Did she run it past Daniel Radcliffe for his approval first? It would be really awkward for him if he has to apologise for her again Hmm

pearlypidge · 10/06/2020 17:57

What an incredible piece of writing.

JK, if you are reading this thread, THANK YOU a million times.

LatinforTelly · 10/06/2020 17:58

I am so moved. My god, she is brave.

JemimaShore · 10/06/2020 17:58

Ooh there's two threads running on this Grin

She's wonderful and courageous. That is all Thanks

(I say 'that is all' but I don't really mean it, I'll be talking about this all night Wink )

OceanOrchid · 10/06/2020 17:58

I’m so grateful to jk for so clearly articulating herself so well, and for refusing to back down. I’ve been a Potter fan since I was a teen - clearly I’ve always had excellent judgement Grin

FloatOn · 10/06/2020 17:58

This is amazing! JK is really fantastic. Thank you.

MorrisZapp · 10/06/2020 17:59

Absolutely stunning and literally brave.

No words.

ButterflyBitch · 10/06/2020 17:59

That was breathtaking and everything you could want written down to try and make people understand. I officially love JK now. She’s amazing.

JemimaShore · 10/06/2020 17:59

Has Twitter imploded into itself with rage yet?

MrsGface · 10/06/2020 17:59

What an amazing piece. It honestly feels quite calculated, that she deliberately provoked the MRAs so she could show everyone how much hatred and misogyny lies behind the movement. And if it was calculated, then Brava Ms Rowling. Well played.

SirVixofVixHall · 10/06/2020 17:59

Made me cry too.

Namechange2020onceagain · 10/06/2020 17:59

She is so brave, brilliant and right. Thank you JKR

NoSquirrels · 10/06/2020 18:00

Speechless. Bloody HELL. No words adequate.

Ness1234 · 10/06/2020 18:00

What an amazing woman. Thank you JK

stumbledin · 10/06/2020 18:00

Shame there are two threads about this as it is so important it would be good to have responses in one place.

zanahoria · 10/06/2020 18:01

This is perfect for when anyone asks what it all about, an elouquent piece bus well respected author.

Reading this makes me realise, once again, how so much of the media, even the so called quality papers is just complete shit, either lies, badly written or both.

BlueBooby · 10/06/2020 18:02

I've been dying to say this for ages: JK Rowling, you are a true Gryffindor. (And yes, I am a true loser and huge fan).

I'm not usually emotional but when she mentioned autistic girls I welled up.

dudsville · 10/06/2020 18:03

That's very well written

twanwan3 · 10/06/2020 18:03

Wow. Another lurker here. What an utterly brilliant and brave piece of writing. Thank you Jo. We owe you a debt of gratitude.

ComDummings · 10/06/2020 18:03

Brilliant essay from her, if you’re reading this Jo THANK YOU, you’re brilliant, truly brilliant.

teawamutu · 10/06/2020 18:03

@JellySlice

I'm not playing a violin for you, jK Rowling, not even a teeny tiny one. I'm playing the biggest, most beautiful, most awesome great CELLO for you. A concerto of life, joy and respect for an awesome, articulate woman.

Harry Potter did not make me cry. This did.

Thank you.

This. Thank you, Jo.
PhoenixBuchanan · 10/06/2020 18:04

And that's why she makes the big bucks as a writer. Clear, logical, intelligent, passionate. Thank you, thank you JKR.

Hidingtonothing · 10/06/2020 18:04

No time to read it all right now, got about halfway through but I actually feel like sobbing I'm so grateful she's written this piece. And so, so gutted that she's had to, and for all the abuse she's had to (and will continue to) endure. You're amazing Jo, I hope you know it.

QueenOfToast · 10/06/2020 18:04

I've just posted it to my Facebook. Happy to lose a few "friends" if people don't like it 😆

MountainWitch · 10/06/2020 18:05

As if getting through the final chapters of The Deathly Hallows tonight with my kids wasn't going to be hard enough. She's such an eloquent writer, and such a principled person. I have so much admiration for her bravery and courage. Flowers
