Pro-woman is just a euphemism for transphobic

Littlemeadow123 · 10/06/2020 12:54

Exactly that.

Transgender people are not eroding our rights as women. Although, the people making such spiteful and ignorant comments and talking about trying to stop them getting recognized as women are eroding their rights to be accepted, respected equal. Do you all honestly think that by speaking out AGAINST transgender people, you are going to be declared as heroes?

And what happened to be kind?

Thank you everyone for proving my point about how transphobic mumsnet are.

What you actually mean is that many people challenged your male supremacist thinking in a way you were unable to respond to with any logic or line of argument, and left you feeling threatened that female people believed female rights were important and would not agree with you. So you're hiding the thread and running away. I have some sympathy, you must be struggling a lot with the cognitive dissonance of 'I'm a kind person who believes in equality - but not for female people who don't think like me'.

'Transphobia' in your stated opinion here and evidenced by this thread in plain sight, means nothing more than female people not accepting their subordinate role to male people.

Z0rr0 · 10/06/2020 17:57

@LastRoloIsMine No, I was just trying to point out how ridiculous a stance it is. As many of us - including JKR - have said, we are happy to support trans men and trans women and keen to find a way to help them live safe and happy lives.
But for some weird reason they will only accept complete capitulation and surrending of our sex-based rights, otherwise we're bigots.
It is possible to want one thing and also the other. Same as it's possible to like football and also rugby.

FatalSecrets · 10/06/2020 17:59

Thank you everyone for proving my point about how transphobic mumsnet are. It's validated why I don't bother discussing the topic on here. I'm hiding the thread now

I'm sorry you don't understand comments such as "I would really like a genuine discussion".

As that is the case I think its important for you that you hide the thread.

FantaOra · 10/06/2020 17:59

Yet again the main accusation of transphobia just ignores all the facts.
Transphobia has to be the most pointless word of all time. It's been made pointless by its most prolific users.

I'm deeply saddened at how prejudiced and intolerant people in this country are. I thought things were improving but it feels like we are going backwards.

LastRoloIsMine · 10/06/2020 18:02

@Z0rr0

Sorry it wasn't a negative comment against you. I was agreeing as I am pro rugby and anti football but that doesn't mean I hate or have a phobia of footballers Grin

Wow, what a clear articulate argument, what a mic drop! 😂

And yet again no actual evidence supporting their assertion of transphobia.

It's almost as if the poster was talking out of their arse.

Z0rr0 · 10/06/2020 18:05

LastRolo. No I know it wasn't negative. I was just explaining in case the nuance was lost on others!

FatalSecrets · 10/06/2020 18:06

Me too. That's the patriarchy for you.

I know @Wonderrwall.

Over 100 years since women first said no more! Us Females matter.
Yet here we are again fighting for the sex based rights we thought we had already won!

Trying times

RedDogsBeg · 10/06/2020 18:08

The lack of response to all these serious, well thought out questions and points and the knee-jerk "you are all transphobic" with no explanation of what being transphobic is, is pathetic. Even easy questions such as why the simple, straightforward and easily implemented extra third Mixed/Neutral space is so awful and transphobic are ignored.

Law and customs are trying to be changed and the basis for doing so is what? No evidence supplied, no thought or consideration, no well structured argument as to why, or how these changes will not impact on others, how these changes will not lessen the rights of others, how these changes will not endanger others, how there will be safeguards, how the rights of others will be respected and upheld, just a big fat nothing with accusations of transphobia and being nasty added for effect and that is the sole basis for such a dramatic and far reaching change to the Law that will have an adverse impact on others, fabulous, truly fabulous.

EileenAlanna · 10/06/2020 18:08

@GreytExpectations A transwoman is a male-to-female transsexual. Pretty common knowledge. No, it's a pretty common misconception. A transsexual has had full surgery to make their genitals appear to be those of the opposite sex. "Transwoman" means nothing of the kind, these men keep their fully functioning penises & simply insist the world now call these female genitals.
This is the first time I've commented on a Feminist post I think, but I'm extremely active in the "real" world spreading the word on this. Virtually everyone I talk to believed as I initially did that it was transsexuals who were being discussed, for whom they all had sympathy/empathy & are all as horrified as I am by the reality. I'm part of a group that we individually made thousands of women - and more than a few men - in our city aware of what's happening & awoke
militancy in them. We continue to do so.

I'm too long in the tooth & have neither the patience nor inclination to pander to anyone's personal fantasy at my expense. Men aren't women. It's the most basic fact of life there is & will continue so until/unless our species evolves into a different species where that isn't the case. While we remain a dimorphic species separate provisions for men & women are necessary & will remain. End of.

Reposting the link again, because it was such a well thought out and insightful piece of writing Star

MrsKCastle · 10/06/2020 18:16

I just want to say to things.

  1. I am constantly amazed by the articulate, intelligent women on MN who take the time to explain and discuss this issue. It really is wonderful how clearly you present the arguments. It is so obvious which posters have considered the issues in depth and which have not.

  2. It gives me a lot of hope to see how the mood has changed on MN. More and more people are coming to realise the implications of replacing sex with gender. The more light that is shone on the demands of TRAs, the more it becomes clear how ridiculous their demands actually are.

Michelleoftheresistance · 10/06/2020 18:16

Wonderful JK Rowling Flowers

I really need to write and thank her for continuing to stand up to this new wave misogyny seeking to exclude and disenfranchise female humans as some subordinate, lesser class. Particularly those females who dare to question or stand up for themselves.

LillianBland · 10/06/2020 18:17

let tranwomen into female spaces if that's where they feel most comfortable, and if you don't, then try on your clothes elsewhere

Brilliant. We can have a third space. I’m down with that. What shall we call it? Since male bodied people who identify as trans, want to be in the places labelled ‘female’, we could call it something like ‘born female’. Of course women can discuss any number of options for the name. So all the women that don’t feel that their dignity and feelings of safety is being maintained in the formally female spaces, we can use the new space. Great! So I assume the male bodied people who identify as trans, will continue to use the spaces originally designed for females and stay out of the third spaces, won’t they? Is that acceptable to you?

popehilarious · 10/06/2020 18:18

Greyt you have been transphobic on two occasions now that I've seen.
Do you wish to apologise?
Once you referred to 'pregnant women'.
Now you say transgender people are transsexuals. Conflating gender with sex means you're not listening to people whose gender differs from their sex.

I'm sure you won't respond, because you didn't before, but do you acknowledge that your views are transphobic?

JellyFishSquish · 10/06/2020 18:22

JKR is amazing: no hate, just clear well thought out and heartfelt writing

Translates to “I can’t answer your questions honestly, so I’m going to hide for a bit, keep checking in the page and hope I find some actual transphobia to screenshot, then name change and come back shouting at the not nice, women”.

Winesalot · 10/06/2020 18:28

Well, I think it is gin for me now. The crickets are calling.

Datun · 10/06/2020 18:35

Burgundy1844

datun you’ll always find extreme examples if you look hard enough.

Lol. And there you were, not a moment before, saying you disagreed with it.

This isn't an extreme example, its policy.

Anyway, J. K. Rowling has just changed the world.

And I'm bored with all this misogyny.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 10/06/2020 18:36

Good on you OP for speaking out against the MN anti trans nutters.

Hmmm. Bump into a nutter on MN and ..... you bumped into a nutter. Bump into a whole load of nutters on MN and ...... it's highly probable that you're the nutter!
