Why is there such a large portion of the feminist movement so against trans culture. Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups. Why is it suddenly okay to for feminists (a formally oppressed group) to oppress trans people (currently oppressed group) why?

Should you only say "treacle" to refer to dark treacle then?

ItsLateHumpty · 10/04/2020 17:41

Ahhhh chocolate sponge with (green) mint custard. T'was what Tuesday's were made of.

Bastard cross country in giant PE knickers first tho.

Loving the 70s throw back - long live the (dead feminist) revolution ✊

Well, flapjacks are made with golden syrup not treacle, unless they are made with sweetened condensed milk.

Treacle toffee is dark and tastes of molasses, if it's the real sort, so I expect that is made with treacle.

They do come in different tins: treacle is in a red and gold tin and golden syrup is in a green and gold one.... www.lylesgoldensyrup.com/our-range

Shredded wheat makes a more realistic but far less tasty, chocolate nest.

Wondering about weetabix...

That’s how I’ve always used it. Only ever made one thing with actual treacle in, and that’s parkin. Mind you, it has golden syrup too.

I’ve never eaten any kind of treacle tart that actually had what I call treacle in it, always golden syrup.

Does gingerbread have treacle in it? I have a sort of memory of mum making it with treacle. Very sticky indeed, hers was, and very dark.

Sudden thought: is treacle the same as molasses really?

Don't.

popehilarious · 10/04/2020 18:11

I make a ginger pudding that has both Golden Syrup and (dark) treacle in it. Yummmmm

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 10/04/2020 18:11

Please may I have the recipe? I le-e-e-erve ginger pudding!

Sexnotgender · 10/04/2020 18:21

I got 3 cooking apples in my veg box this week, going to have a crack at an apple crumble on Monday.

popehilarious · 10/04/2020 18:27

Asking I got confused! It's actually this ginger cake with lemon icing that uses the treacle:

This ginger and pear pudding (it says cake, but I always seem to undercook it, and have it hot with the brandy syrup) is what I was thinking of, but there's nay treacle in it - I usually do it at Christmas time

I've never been able to figure this out either. I think molasses is lumpier but may be imagining that bit.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 10/04/2020 18:45

Thank you for those, popehilarious. I can see a baking day coming on, next time I get some flour.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/04/2020 18:47

Was doing some reading yesterday and there was a note that treacle was molasses.

Golden syrup is different from treacle

ErrolTheDragon · 10/04/2020 20:13
  • They are, but for some reason, in the 70s, pretty much everything named ‘Treacle _’ was actually made with golden syrup.

Except for treacle toffee. That had to be dark treacle. That was one thing DM got right. She always made some on Guy Fawkes night.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/04/2020 20:34

Also treacle scones, I remember making those and it definitely wasn't golden syrup.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/04/2020 21:04

Yes I thought treacle was the black stuff.

Treacle tart is made from golden syrup. It's lovely but overpowering enough as it is. I think it would be inedible if made with actual treacle.

I use treacle occasionally in dark gingerbread loaf /cakes.

I've only come across molasses as a cattle feed. Cattle love it.

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime

Feminism is dead thanks to stupidity and hostility in this post

Out of the mouths of the hard of thinking. It's the post, not the thread, asserting that feminism is dead.

It needs to be made with a lot of lemon juice mixed into the breadcrumbs.
