Transphobic attitudes contradict the good feminism does everyday

Why is there such a large portion of the feminist movement so against trans culture. Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups. Why is it suddenly okay to for feminists (a formally oppressed group) to oppress trans people (currently oppressed group) why?

School's out for summer early?

What do you mean by 'trans culture' exactly? Feminists are or should be against transgender ideology because it is scientifically unsupportable, misogynistic and homophobic and it is hurting women and children right now.

Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups.

Really? Hadn't noticed. Have noticed a great many of them being responsible for the worst abuse against women I've seen online and some violence IRL not to mention crushing young women's dreams of sporting success.

Why is it suddenly okay to for feminists (a formally oppressed group) to oppress trans people (currently oppressed group) why?

How exactly do you think feminists are oppressing trans people? Do you see us telling trans people to die in fires? Do you see us policing how they speak? Displacing them in sports events and cheating them
out of medals? Depriving women and girls of their privacy, dignity and feeling safe by demanding access to their spaces? Please enlighten me.

Turquoiseeyes · 08/04/2020 22:35

It's Blancmange and formerly oppressed.
Do one

Lord! I have seen the light!! THANK YOU OP you have set me on the path of righteousness for righteousness' sake and I will be delivered unto Him and His ways are mighty.

"Trans culture", hmm? I wonder if OP realizes what they just inadvertently admitted there.

FloralBunting · 08/04/2020 22:39

Interesting question, Datun. I thought there were only a handful of us who didn't bend the knee. I'm not sure how I feel about called a large portion, but, you know...

Datun · 08/04/2020 22:39

Um...

Transphobic attitudes contradict the good feminism does everyday
FloralBunting · 08/04/2020 22:40

Yes, theres much to unpack there, in the little throwaway goad. People always reveal more than they mean to when they're not on the level...

flowery · 08/04/2020 22:41

You think oppression of women has finished?!

I and the rest of the world must have missed the memo...

PersonaNonGarter · 08/04/2020 22:43

Formerly

I guess you are a man. Move on.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/04/2020 22:43

Also "allegedly oppressed groups". We could do this phrase by phrase.

isabellerossignol · 08/04/2020 22:43

Why Datun, what fair maidens in those portraits!

Danceswithwarthogs · 08/04/2020 22:46

I can’t understand what good the OP thinks feminism does everyday... unless it is fighting for new things for male people to appropriate.

MrsTerryPratchett · 08/04/2020 22:47

a formally oppressed group

Winesalot · 08/04/2020 22:47

Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups.

I am very interested in hearing about these things that trans people have advocated for women (an actual oppressed group, not alleged at all).

LemonRedwood · 08/04/2020 22:48

I find I'm informally oppressed quite a bit too.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/04/2020 22:53

But lo! What light through yonder window breaks?

It's Karen White, and Jessica Yaniv. Yay.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 08/04/2020 22:53

I was formally sober, but I found a bottle of nice wine that I forgot I had, so I’m slightly tiddly.

However, I shall identify as sober and you can’t disagree with me!

Winesalot · 08/04/2020 22:53

A bit more reading while you tell us also how feminism is oppression transpeople.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/04/2020 22:54

I rather like the spelling 'blamonge'. Sounds pink and squishy as it should , 'blancmange' never made sense for something so lurid.

(If you weren't a child in the 60s or before maybe you're lucky enough not to have ever been served this substance)

Soontobe60 · 08/04/2020 22:54

Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups

In my experience, the only people that trans people have been advocates for supporting is themselves. An 'allegedly oppressed group'.

Errol

I was going to ask OP what it was like living on the ceiling...

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 08/04/2020 22:56

I've heard of blancmange but never actually seen it in the flesh, as it were.
