How is this anything other than a men's rights movement?

We were having this discussion yesterday. With the world being in the merde, people are going to take a hard look at general nonsense and call time on it all.

The grown ups are returning to the room.

boatyardblues · 07/04/2020 09:13

Shocking that it takes a global pandemic for people to pull their heads out if their arses, but there you go. 🤷‍♂️

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 07/04/2020 09:16

What's interesting is that the usual TRAs seem to have not the slightest awareness that the way their complaints are being received is shifting.

DuLANGDuLANGDuLANG · 07/04/2020 09:25

Bleating about your cosmetic surgery being pushed back at a time when others are having time-sensitive-cancer surgeries delayed is the absolute height of aresholery.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 07/04/2020 09:29

Which is surprising really as some seem to have managed to get enough surgery for them to speak out of their arseholes in the first place.

My favourite theory is that insomnia in menopausal women is so we can stay up all night guarding the fire/on watch. Bastards.

Owl-ness the same. All the best-part-of-the-day moralising from the larks gets right on my nerves. Who guards you through the scary dark hours when you turn in by 8:30pm, you dawn-loving lightweights? Hmm

Lordfrontpaw · 07/04/2020 10:32

My mum used to say that women lived longer as a reward for having to put up with the menfolk. I think she was joking.

Well, if the Misogynist Monitors are reading the thread (waves) maybe they’ll pass the message on.

UYScuti · 07/04/2020 12:40

That sounds very worrying about your friend Scrimpshaw😔

AutumnLeavesSeptember · 07/04/2020 12:42

That Twitter thread reads like parody. Definitely NO cis women involved in care work of ANY kind Confused

Is it possible that Titania McGrath is not a one-off?

Oh wow. You think Fae might be in deep cover?

ISaySteadyOn · 07/04/2020 14:50

On the subject of menopause, I just read a fascinating thing in a nature magazine I get. Orcas are one of the five mammals who go through menopause and calves born into pods of orcas with post menopausal females have a better survival rate. Not sure it's relevant to the thread but interesting.

Do elephants?

Thanks JF for the interesting thread. Credit where credit's due. TW are certainly pulling their weight in the thread inspiring stakes.

Well, tbf I suspect women who identify as Cis are more likely to work in media, gender studies academia or whatever.

@ScrimpshawTheSecond

My mum is a carer in a care home and she has been at her wits end, working double shifts with no PPE and very little staff. As of last week she has been in isolation with suspected coronavirus. She is so ill and they wouldn't test her for ages despite her having cared for very ill and very elderly people before the onset of her symptoms. When all is said and done I think the death toll for women will be much higher than expected and that's before you take into account the deaths resulting from domestic violence and other reasons. I suspect the death toll as a result of the depression will be bourne the most by women and children Sad

BatShite · 07/04/2020 15:16

Bleating about your cosmetic surgery being pushed back at a time when others are having time-sensitive-cancer surgeries delayed is the absolute height of aresholery.

I remember reading a year or so ago, some account of a transman proper kicking off as their mastectomy had been cancelled but the hospital was still doing mastectomies for cancer patients. As apparently removing said healthy breasts is just as likely to 'save a life' as removing diseased ones.. so should be just as priority Hmm

Patience will be running massively thin if they are still bleating about hormones and pronouns. Silver lining, I guess.

BatShite · 07/04/2020 15:17

For sure, I don't even dare try to find stats at the moment, when I know how many women and kids are killed under 'normal' circumstances, it must be astronomical now.

Lordfrontpaw · 07/04/2020 15:18

I’ve seen retweet’s (so could be fake of course) of people saying that they will have their cosmetic surgery after granny pops her clogs with covid. God I hope they were fake.

HermioneWeasley · 07/04/2020 15:26

Prick News ran an article just recently about “life saving” trans surgeries being delayed due to CV.

Absolutely tone fucking deaf.

I hoe they continue to jump the shark, and I hope that one good thing to come out of th8s whole terrible situation is that nobody will have the money or time for this bullshit any more.

Lordfrontpaw · 07/04/2020 15:27

The grown ups are watching... and getting impatient.

The latest ICNARC report shows that only 27% of people admitted to Intensive Care with Covid 19 are female.

What's interesting is that the usual TRAs seem to have not the slightest awareness that the way their complaints are being received is shifting.

This has been interesting me for a while. Even before COVID, as women began to raise awareness, the situation was beginning to shift. There seemed to be no acknowledgement, or even awareness, that the hyperbolically lamented “rise in transphobia” was actually a direct result of their overstepping the mark, both in demands and in the threats they made wherever they met resistance.

I think there are a few transactivists who do have the subtlety to see it, and try to push for a more softly, softly approach. Indeed I suspect a number of them are mature female transitioners. But some of the loudest voices are those of Male bullies who are wholly deaf to others’ needs. The end result will be self-defeat. Just a pity it’s such a painful process.
