How is this anything other than a men's rights movement?

Horse, cheers. I'm trying to work out if I like being called LadyQP or should go back to FloralBunting. I'll decide later, need a nap now.

nocoolnamesleft · 04/04/2020 17:07

I know a metric fuckton more female frontline HCPs than male.

cinammonbuns · 04/04/2020 17:08

Or perhaps it’s because women are generally more healthy than men and smoke and drink less?

Datun · 04/04/2020 17:11

Enjoying your posts today, LadyQP

Me too.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 04/04/2020 17:46

Floral, is that you?! Shock

LadyQuarantinaPluckington · 04/04/2020 19:17

Scrimp, it is I. I used this name on the sadly deleted thread using lots of humour about male persons who equate certain aspects of stereotypical femininity with actually being a woman, but obviously, as 'twas sent down the memory hole for lack of appropriate naiceness, my transition was overlooked. The bloody violence of it.

I quite like being called LadyQ, but it is surprising how attached you get to a nickname and I miss being called Floral 🤣

Lordfrontpaw · 04/04/2020 19:19

Have we all been elevated to the House of Lords after naughtiness then?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 04/04/2020 19:29

I just mangled my username in a terrible confusion over defrosting prawns. Can't face fixing it.

Could you not add Floral into Lady Q, it seems to flow quite naicely?

Doesn’t know what a woman is.

bellinisurge · 05/04/2020 08:53

'U.N. Releases Report on Socio-economic Effects of Coronavirus'
(extract)
"UNITED NATIONS, Apr 3 2020 (IPS) - As the number of coronavirus cases continues to grow, concerns are simultaneously growing about the current and long-term effects this will have on certain demographics — specifically, women, the youth, migrant workers, and many employees around the world.

This week, the United Nations launched a report “Shared Responsibility, Global Solidarity: Responding to the socio-economic impacts of COVID-19” that detailed how these communities are affected disproportionately by the current pandemic and quarantine.

A burden on women
At the centre of it remains one demographic that likely bear the strongest brunt of it: women.

“The fact that women make up 70 percent of the global health workforce puts them at greater risk of infection,” read part of the report. “The current crisis threatens to push back the limited gains made on gender equality and exacerbate the feminisation of poverty, vulnerability to violence, and women’s equal participation in the labour force.”

But just because women make up almost three-quarters of global healthcare professionals, does not mean they’re given the proper respect. According to a March 2019 report by the World Health Organisation, despite having such a crucial role in the public health industry, women continue to face various kinds of abuse or negligence in society, including but not limited to being attributed to a “lower status” or engaging in paid and often, unpaid roles, and being subject to gender bias and harassment. Women = adult human females

UYScuti · 05/04/2020 13:29

Despite the fact that they are at greater risk adult human females have a lower rate of death compared to adult human males.
Adult human females (also known as real women) are made of strong stuff!

NeurotrashWarrior · 05/04/2020 13:42

Sorry not rtft.

Dammit, there was a marvellous article I read about the difference between the sexes and oestrogen likely to be playing a part re Coronavirus, but warned men NOT to take oestrogen as it wouldn't work.

I feel like it was in the independent. Or maybe Time or NY post.

Wish I could sling a few quotes back to JF.

Eeyoresstickhouse · 05/04/2020 15:10

But surely Jane is a woman, so she is not pulling her weight is he she. And if biology makes no difference whatsoever to what sex you are Jane won't be alarmed that more men are dying as Jane isn't one.

Please note the sarcasm.

AnyOldSpartabix · 05/04/2020 18:59

This might be related, Neurotrash. It appears oestrogen receptors may be as important as oestrogen itself. As many of us have pointed out, you can fill a man with oestrogen, but the cells that are responding are still male.

’The research team took samples of nasal cells from men and women, and exposed them to the influenza A virus. They were also exposed to oestrogen and oestrogen-like compounds.

They found the oestrogen compounds reduced the virus’ ability to replicate in the nasal cells of women. But they could not control it being replicated in mens’ nasal cells.’

Men wash their hands less
Men have not been following social distancing rules as much
Women are more likely to work part as doctors than men. Any prizes for guessing why?
Who has been mainly looking after the children and homeschooling them during the crisis?
The crisis has exposed the vanity of identity politics to a degree. Are you going to donate your charity money to a food bank or support for those out of work or to an LGBT charity?

The T as an issue is a luxury issue which relies on people being comfortable and having no real issues as its selling point. It just lost its importance, relevance and selling point.

It's a libertarian movement which props up insurance based and private health care. There is going to be a massive examination of that over the next couple of years.

People complaining about their mental health because someone got the wrong pronoun isn't going to go down very well with so many people losing jobs, businesses, homes and family as well as there being a rise in mental health related issues due to isolation.

Coronavirus doesn't care about your pronouns. Just your sex.

This sexism is glaring and the trans fashion trend is just about to hit a bloody big road block.

I think if I could sum up how I feel about this idiot it'd be along the lines of offering a biscuit and shouting 'diddums'.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 05/04/2020 19:10

I am pulling my weight like every other woman I know. I am working like many others. Some women are at home working away.

This person is too busy pulling their plonker to see the wood for the trees.

If they were actually a woman they would realise they’d made themselves sound like a gert knob.
