He’s trying to push Lisa Nandy as to whether any man can self identify and compete in woman’s sports. He’s actually trying to talk some sense and saying it’s unfair to woman’s rights. Making really good points about trans rights overriding woman’s rights.
She will not give a straight answer to anything.

Victoria Derbyshire asked her wht there had been no female Labour leaders.

Lisa waffled. My simple answer would be that the female candidates speak loudly about women's rights when it affects them but are bloody hopeless when standing up for other women.

Domestic violence is awful, wrong - we need to protect women. Yes, women should fight 'former' men in a boxing ring.

Completely off topic but, if anyone's interested, Wild Swans is 99p on kindle this month

What a cowardly performance that was by Nandy. She looked hugely uncomfortable throughout, and kept accusing PM of creating a straw man argument when he was giving real examples. All she could do was deflect, muddy the waters further, make ad hominem attacks and play at taking the high road. What a joke. And to think I had high hopes for her when I saw her on Andrew Neil.

What a car crash...extraordinary viewing

Piers Morgan may be many things but he is an experienced interviewer, understands popular opinion and articulate.

Nandy looked very tense all the way, just watch the way her lips kept quivering, and then it got worse and worse.

The deflections were grim. Morgan's questions were clear. His audience views would have completely understood "is it fair..." Nandy's deflections were all over the place. What is a "straw man" etc. Yes they may be currency amongst those who spend their time debating obscure issues, but they don't work here nor would they work in the pub.

The big take away from this is that she does not have the right political instincts to carry a party to an election victory.

Yes, what an earth was she trying to say about the sex of her baby being on her wristband?

Was she wanting to imply that if it wasn't written on the wristband, she wouldn't have a clue?

Cos, I'm not being funny or nuthin', but that wouldn't surprise me.

She really deserves it to be career ending. Complete and utter traitor who should be ashamed of herself.

Report
Mockerswithnoknockers · 10/03/2020 12:53

She also said the wristband only said 'Baby Nandy' and did not say which sex the Nandysporg idenitifed as.

God that clip was unbearable to watch. I really had to steel myself to watch the entire thing.

Nandy has completely boxed herself in and she's deluded if she thinks the majority of viewers agree with her and not Piers.

Report
feelingverylazytoday · 10/03/2020 12:56

So if her baby's wristband fell off she wouldn't know if it was a boy or a girl?
Pull the other one, Lisa. We're not fucking stupid, so stop treating us as if we are.

Just watched it ... and it was far worse for Nandy then I imagined. She's read the mood of the general public wrong if she thinks she is representing their views and Piers isn't.

Even if she's realized that she's wrong, how can she back down now? The rest of the party would eat her alive.

The story about the child in her constituency didn't even save her this time did it. You could physically see the " oh shit " moment as it ignored and the original question re asked.

She couldnt get a lesbian thrown out this time for extra credit..

Collidascope · 10/03/2020 13:05

That story she keeps telling about the "trans girl" in her constituency really does sum it up. The rights of a majority, and even the right to debate, being thrown away for this tiny but oh-so-fragile minority.

Nandy did try a bit of backing down at a hustings recently, saying to a female Labour member that Nandy’s mum had helped her to understand that women only spaces and services were important to women of the older generation, but it just made Nandy sound ageist as well as stupid.

Add to the mix a heated exchange over the place of trans-athletes in sport and the chat on this morning’s show well and truly exploded.

So much so, Lisa called for Piers to apologise publicly to viewers by the end of the debate

Just wow. How much cognitive dissonance does it take to be this blinkered?

Report
SarahTancredi · 10/03/2020 13:08

I dont even think its that. It's just a "let's all get then to feel sorry for someone and they will forget that I haven't answered a single question , nor can i" situation.

When the bullshit suicide stats and sob stories are ignored and they carry on asking questions the interview usually falls apart.

They have nothing else

Report
TheProdigalKittensReturn · 10/03/2020 13:10

Why should he apologise to viewers for saying what almost all of them believe? Not that he would anyway, which she must know, making the demand a particularly silly piece of performance art.

'babies are born, they are designated a biological sex, when they grow into adulthood that often becomes problematic. I don't see what's so difficult for you to understand'

For 51% of the babies, that's true!

Oh she didn't mean that did she.

Idea that old school cunty women who don't opt for a special label are 100% happy with the role and rules and value society assigns to us.

You'll be surprised then OvaHere at how much support Nandy got on twitter over that interview. It's mainly against her but it's a long way from being one-way traffic.

She has done very well in keeping hold of support from the "he was very mean to Lisa" community.

I remember when I read Wild Swans that one of my abiding impressions was the pitilessness of the children and tweens in the Cultural Revolution. Of course they had been deliberately indoctrinated but it really chilled me how they were weaponised to turn on their own parents and teachers

Yes substitute the red guards for their glitter family; it’s not a huge stretch

Has Keir Starmer been on GMB as leadership candidate? I want him to face the same direct questions. Nandy was dire but I think it only fair to see how KS would manage the fence sitting. I worry the female candidates are being given enough rope but he's getting away with flying below the radar on this topic.

Report
Lamahaha · 10/03/2020 13:17

I kept silently yelling, yes or no, Lisa! Yes or no! Is it fair or isn't it?
And she just waffled on.
